Man, I am trying to get the hang of Cool Edit Pro, but it is hard... :(
I'm trying to do a little mixing project, by combining two songs from wildly different genres. I need a sound engineer to help me out. |
im gonna go to bed. Its almost 4am and if i dont sleep im gonna kill myself instead
either way i get to sleep...ones just longer |
There was a guy who'd spent more than 80 years awake. But I think he died or something
i can't survive over two days without sleep, no matter how little the amount of sleep is |
I can survive for months with aobut 3-4 hours sleep a night

Well, I suppose I could. I'm going Cryptopsy and Ministry Of Sound right now. :) |
Morning y'all.
|
Hey there Barkeep. What happening?
Jason, you'll have to let me hear that when you're done:). |
Morning y'all.
Another dual-medium conversation, hey? My day has been good. Thinking about giving up on trying to mix songs... |

Hey there Barkeep. What happening?
Little. Just catching up on MX, then more than likely going to go play on the PS2, since I fixed it. I think I'm also going to put some music on, since I can hear..things from one of the other rooms. |
Morning 'Tender
My bro broke his ps2. The warranty ran out, so he bought one of those mini-flat ones. |

Urgh! I had an Interview today with a Marketing company. Went rather well and they wanted me back for a 'Group' thing. So I was all hyped, but it turns out it's from 12:00 till 8:30! On a Friday night aswell. Oh well.

Good pay? |

Yeah. The worrying thing is that her room is two doors over :-/ Maybe her boyfriend is just getting better. She's stopped now anyway. Cruel though it is, we know they've never lasted more than about four minutes. |

Yeah. I don't know him though, so I don't care what conclusions are drawn :)
I'm off to get food and drink, and play PS2, etc. So I'll see you all later. |

Sorry Riva, sound engineering is one of the few areas where I lack expertise. Just about anything else to do with music I can answer, but not the tech side.
|
See you.

Hit me up on MSN tomorrow. I'm going to watch some T.V. now. :) |
Will do, later.
|
Have fun watching... 'TV'
So, for everyone who's left hanging about on this here thread..... sup? |
Not much. Have a little over an hour of work left. Then its time to go make guitar recordings.
|
nice.
I'm ill. *sob* Oh well, it's not all bad. I missed triple Politics, with the bitchiest teacher EVER. And tomorrow.... I get new stuff for my drum kit :) Namely, a second bass drum and three more rack toms  |
Sounds good other than the sickness. But I can't say I'd mind missing a politics class. The second bass drum is a big plus.
|
Oh yeh. 10 piece heaven, here I come. My drum kit is already bigger than anyone other drummer's in my school, due to the amount of cymbals I have, and this is just gonna add to that :) I'll probably need a few more crashes, though. I don't reckon 4 is enough to place around the 10 piece, 7 or 8 will do me fine.
|
Heh, 7 or 8. Would you actually use all those or is it just to make the set complete and full looking?
|
Well, at the moment, I'm known to be cymbal happy, not just due to the amount of cymbals I have on my set up, but because afterwards someone said to me, "Dude, every time I looked at you, all your cymbals were moving" as in having just been hit. So, on my relatively small kit, if i'm constantly using 4 crashes, I reckon I should more than easily be able to use 7 or 8.
The problem I have is that I've kind of been forced to use all my cymbals and all my kit... everyone knows that I'm a self-taught drummer, and hence I'm under constant pressure to use all my stuff, or else people will say I'm just trying to show off or be an attention seeker :( So, I'm gonna have to start major fills that will use all my toms, or else face being berated :( Likewise, when I got my 24" china, I was told that I was just being greedy, that I'm not actually going to use it. So now my band has a song which is more or less entirley focused around that china. The problem of having the biggest kit in school :( |
Wow, good explaination. I guess it makes sense then. You'll have to take an updated pic of the kit when you get all the new elements.
|
Aye, tomorrow evening there should be pics of my new baby up. I can't wait!
I'm probalby gonna buy a mate's splash, and I heard that if you get a cymbal, and kinda push it inside-out, you can make a homemade china. I'm certainly gonna try that with a crappy 16" crash I have (I never use it, I only use 18" crashes or more. But for a china, i reckon a 16" could sound pretty nice). What's your weapon of choice, cjborton? |
IMO, you only need 4/5 piece kit with two crashes, hats and a ride to sound great. Anything more than that is a waste of money.
|
My weapons are my Ibanez SZ320 (favorite), Gibson SG, and my piss Peavey Predator Plus, which was my first guitar and doesn't get played much anymore. Right now I play though a 15W Marshall, but as soon as I get out of the Army I'll be upgrading that to at least a 60W.

Someone asked me what my idea of a minamilist kit is. I said, 5 piece, 2 crashes, ride, hats, china, double kick pedal. It seems to be the 'in' thing these days to have a 4 piece, hats and three crashes (2 'regular' size and a larger one in place of the other tom). The best drummer in my school has that, a four piece, with hats, a 16" crash, a 17" crash, and an 18" in place of the other rack tom. |

Army, eh? I should be doing that in a few months. But I'll probably put it of till I'm 25, so I only have to do 6 months + training as opposed to three years. **** IDF... **** Jews.... I HATE THEM SO MUCH! *shakes fist* |
How the deuce are you only gonna do 6 months? I've heard about an 18 month plan, but that's the shortest I know of.
|
Well, in the IDF, if you're over 25, the only make you do 6months service, + training. Then again, it's different in Israel. Once you've done that, you have to do 1 month army service a year until you're 45 or something.

Ok, drummer such as nicko who do ridiculous full kit fills are good, but think of the REALLY good drummers. Steve Gadd : 4 Piece Mike Van Dyne (Hes in Arsis, a death metal band) : 4 Piece DragonForce Dude : 4/5 Piece. Its just more practical really. But i know that massive kits are really fun. |
