The End by the Doors live, so much free verse.

Acctually alot of Doors songs live.

MBS 08-24-2005 01:52 PM
Led Zeppelin Whole Lotta Love Medely, actually. He adds lines from old blues songs and a few of his own that he never used in songs.
The Whole Lotta Love Medley on HTWWW is really cool, I haven't listened to it in forever.

"I say hello marylou..."

Yep. With a guy as creative/drugged up as Jim, a lot of songs got changed around. Especially The End.

halaluya 08-24-2005 02:07 PM

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but, does anyone know what amp jimmy page used during Zeppelin's early days?

BludgeonySteve 08-24-2005 02:10 PM

It's a decent guess, but you would find more info in the offical led Zeppelin thread. http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148902. Ask in there.

MBS 08-24-2005 02:12 PM

He used Fenders in Britain when they were first playing in clubs and such.

He switched to Marshalls when he went to America.

I think.

BludgeonySteve 08-24-2005 02:13 PM

That sounds about right. On HTWWW it shows Marshall amps for sure. I thought he meant what kind of Marshall amp.

thickasabrick 08-24-2005 02:21 PM
That sounds about right. On HTWWW it shows Marshall amps for sure. I thought he meant what kind of Marshall amp.
Yeah, I read somewhere that when he went to America, he wanted to upgrade to Marshall amps, but didn't have the money. He had 2 Fender amps. One was blown out and old and worn and the other was practically new. What he did was he took the speaker out of the old one and put it in the new case, and took the speaker in the new one and put it in the old one. He then traded in the "new" one for a Marshall and some extra gear because Fenders were worth more in America.

Pretty sly, if you ask me.

Edit: I'm uploading 2 songs for your listening pleasure.

Livin' Thing - Electric Light Orchestra (I forgot to include this song on my write up)

It's catchy as hell I swear. You'll have the line "I'm taking a dive" stuck in your head all day. I know I do now. :( Oh, and the chorus is pretty catchy.

Grace - Jeff Buckley (I'm hooked on this guy.)

classicrockman 08-24-2005 03:21 PM

I love ELO. There music is so great. :)

Broken Arrow 08-24-2005 03:27 PM

I I found some ELO in my dad record collection along with Spirits s/t album.

MBS 08-24-2005 03:36 PM

Which album is it, Livewired?

Broken Arrow 08-24-2005 03:43 PM

One of the albums is called "Time" and one of them is called "On the Third Day".

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-24-2005 03:44 PM
Random thought I had, but is there any recorded history as to what happened to Townshend's SG after he tossed it into the crowd at Woodstock?
I not only know what happened to it.......I've touched it. :D

It's in Houston's Hard Rock Cafe along with Clapton, Hendrix and Prince guitars. They have all sorts of cool stuff there. Like all four of the Beatles' hair, ZZ Top guitars and bunch of other cool stuff.

I'm not a big fan of ELO but I'm willing to hear more. "Mr. Blue Sky" has been growing on me a little cheesy but meh it's catchy as hell.

PinkFreud 08-24-2005 03:45 PM

so for a late graduation present, my parents friends gave me a mint condition, original album cover framed of the doors - la woman. its so cool. and a hundred bucks.

MBS 08-24-2005 04:27 PM
That Jeff Buckley song is beautiful though. :)
That whole album is a work of art, I'm suprised that not many people have heard of it.

TheDMV 08-24-2005 04:40 PM

I would like to vote for Phish in the latest poll, but I'll wait and if it doesn't look like they'll get through, Ima go with Primus.

That's cool. I remember in a store in Hawaii, they had like gold/platinum albums by a bunch of bands, they were framed along with the album cover which was usually signed by the band. They were so expensive though, they had some Doors ones and Pink Floyd ones and Zeppelin ones. That's sort of all I remember.

edit- And I voted Phish in the poll :thumb:

JonG 08-24-2005 05:57 PM

Whiskey In The Jar off Shady Grove is so good :)

Love the vocals.

jpj 08-24-2005 06:14 PM

Yep, that's what I did.

I'm really digging Comes a Time by Neil Young.

I'm kind of a sucker for rock/folk songs with any type of orchestral arrangement composed along with it.

NP: I Live For You - George Harrison

Jeff was awesome too. I keep saying awesome today.

Same here. One of the things I like about Neil is how he doesn't just do folk, he dips into country and stuff. He did some pretty experimental stuff in the '80s, like when he made a full-on country album, and when he did a '50s rockabilly album.

White_heat 08-24-2005 06:40 PM

**** that song is ****ed up.

That's tough. Someone stole my Aoxomoxoa at school, and I wanted to know who did it so I could congradulate them on their good taste, and then slap them for stealing it

Thanks anyways but I've steal got it on my computer luckily.

EDIT:^Hah, one of the funniest typos I've done in a while.

I have this weird neurosis where I have to own the CD not just have it burned or on computer..that is a very expensive neurosis. My friends think I'm crazy for not just downloading.
