Mr. Pickle 10-27-2006 08:01 PM

what's the worst thing i can say? it's better if i stay.

The Brad 10-27-2006 08:02 PM

Neurosis is too powerful.

PietroCrespi 10-27-2006 08:05 PM

Why does A2 (or Aadd9) have to be the most beautiful chord on acoustic guitar, yet nothing I've tried sounds good enough to go with it? It's cruel...

Mr. Pickle 10-27-2006 08:07 PM
So long and goodnight?
the big people are talking. hush...

The Brad 10-27-2006 08:12 PM

Yeah, I think I am going to stop coming here. :p

PietroCrespi 10-27-2006 08:18 PM

Ok, so would a G major arpeggio be:

G ------
D ----0-
A --2---
E 3-----

BenJammin 10-27-2006 08:21 PM
Ok, so would a G major arpeggio be:

Yeah. You could also play the open D as the fifth fret on your A string, too.

PietroCrespi 10-27-2006 08:23 PM

Sweet. Thanks. I'm trying to learn theory so I can add something to our worship band in some parts because we have like 2-3 guitarists and me on bass and it gets pretty boring with all of us playing the same thing.

Ahhh. Gotcha. :)

That's a general pattern that applies to any of your major scale arpeggios, so you can do it anywhere.

PietroCrespi 10-27-2006 08:28 PM

Ok, I know all these questions should go in the theory thread, but will the key affect how the arpeggios are played in a G-Em-C progression?

BenJammin 10-27-2006 08:29 PM

Woohoo! My cab is in Canada now. :)

I'm really not much help here. I'm a pretty big theory noob. :) Sorry. :p

PietroCrespi 10-27-2006 08:32 PM

Haha, ok, thanks anyways.

BenJammin 10-27-2006 08:44 PM

Brad, what the chances that my cab will show up before next Thursday? I mean, it's already in Quebec.

The Brad 10-27-2006 08:51 PM

Probably pretty good, if it's near you?
I ordered a DVD burner from Tiger Direct and they told me 3-7 days, I am not sure what day it was delivered on (of that number) but as soon as I saw it was near me, I knew it would be delivered that day.

I would guess monday if it's real close to you.

Jody LeCompte 10-27-2006 08:51 PM

Hmmm.

I went bargain shopping and was going to walk out of a music shop with 20 cds but ended up getting Halucino Genetics instead...

Schweet.

Yeah, Quebec is only 8-10 hours away from me.

The Brad 10-27-2006 08:59 PM

Maybe Tuesday then, because they will have a departure center nearer to you, say 20-90 minutes.

Jody LeCompte 10-27-2006 08:59 PM

Ugh, these are the wrong cigarettes.

Andrew :(

That makes me happy. Not that I'll have a whole lot of time to play on it, since I've got a half dozen papers to write by the end of November.

Jody LeCompte 10-27-2006 09:09 PM

This Primus DVD is so great. It makes the cigarette problem ok...

BenJammin 10-27-2006 09:10 PM

Anyway, I think I'm out to go do something maybe productive on this cold and lonely Friday night.

I just got back from the football game about 30 minutes ago.

Ting 10-27-2006 09:18 PM

Some reason these two album covers remind me of each other

Brilliant stuff.

User Name 10-27-2006 09:21 PM

Az_Holl 10-27-2006 09:24 PM

You cut me real deep Shrek. Real deep.

User Name 10-27-2006 09:25 PM

I'm trying to get into playing more electric stuff on guitar. Well, metal in particular. I can't really get into it.

Jody LeCompte 10-27-2006 09:27 PM

If you want to get into electric stuff on guitar go check out Buddy Guy and Chet Atkins <_<

Az_Holl 10-27-2006 09:27 PM

Just play whatever you want and put distortion on it, its pretty much the same thing.

Jody LeCompte 10-27-2006 09:30 PM

Since...electric = distortion?

<_<
If you want to get into electric stuff on guitar go check out Buddy Guy and Chet Atkins <_<
Nah, it's for a band I'm playing in. They didn't appreciate my Blind Willie McTell today at practice so I'm not sure blues would help, and Chet Atkins isn't enough like Metallica.

Jody LeCompte 10-27-2006 09:32 PM

And I'm sure learning blues and bluegrass would NEVER help you play metal?

User Name 10-27-2006 09:33 PM
And I'm sure learning blues and bluegrass would NEVER help you play metal?
I can hardly play with a pick as is. Bluegrass isn't on the top of the list.

Az_Holl 10-27-2006 09:33 PM

Yeah seeing as thogh metal came from blues and all.
