I don't have nearly enough happy/hopeful music in my collection. Would someone recommend me something in any genre (besides power or progressive metal)? I normally listen to post/prog rock and singer/songwriter with random bits of other stuff.
http://www.last.fm/user/pizzatini/ for more accuarate interests. Or any general things that I should listen to, but don't. Thank you :) |

Could somebody recommend me a Mike Oldfield album. I need a place to start. Thanks.
|
Start at the start; Tubular Bells.
|
What Boris album is the best?
|
I've currently been digging Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Kayo Dot, Gong and in a similar vein, though off at a bit of a tangent, Screaming Headless Torsos. Does anyone have some more recommendations for cool Avant Garde groups?

bump
Arcturus. And Solefald. |
I named some bands for that at first, but then realised it was you with a different avatar, and my mind went blank.
What Boris album is the best?
Depends what you're looking for. They change about quite a bit. Akuma No Uta is an EP which has bits and pieces from most of their major styles, which is nice. |

Greg, my boy, let's start with what you like. I know you're not a stranger to electronica, so let's go for his newest album: Light + Shade, which is a very fine album. For rock: Tubular Bells or Five Miles Out. For folk: Ommadawn or Hergest Ridge. For a rock/electronica blend: most of his other albums will suffice, but I recommend Tubular Bells III. |
Well, I took Barkeep's recommendation last night and I dug it, so I'll pursue with what you've mentioned when I get the chance. Thanks. :)
|
You should have just emailed me. I'm hurt, really I am.
|
I was wondering when you would find his post :p
can some one say tome which is the best album of Eric Clapton?
Clapton's best solo album is Slowhand. But his work with Cream and other sideprojects in the late sixties and early seventies completely owns any of his solo work. Try a few of these: Cream- Wheels of Fire (or any other Cream album) John Mayall- Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton Derek and the Dominoes- Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs Blind Faith- Blind Faith Also there are a ton of live Cream/Clapton official live recordings and bootlegs out there and Cream is known as perhaps the greatest live band ever, so be sure to check out some live stuff. |
Bands I Like- Dream Theater, Chevelle, Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, etc...
can anyone give me some bands that fall in the lines of these bands? i'm in need of some new music. |

I reccomend their self titled one |
I'm looking for the catchiest songs you guys know. Any style (except rap and Britney Spears pop). Preferably older material (Pre 90s), but still post the best 90 and 00 songs you know if you find them really catchy. Its getting harder to get into new bands at this point so I need some help finding them.

Nevermore - Dead Heart In A Dead World Arch Enemy - Stigmata Dude above - I find songs from Lacuna Coil's Karmacode to be unbelievably catchy...but that came out a few weeks ago. :p Some Maiden songs I find can get stuck in my head for days at a time. Try The Trooper, Hallowed Be Thy Name, or Aces High for memorable, catchy riffs. |

There is a gap in my music listening era... I know 70s, then 90s and 00s... so... some relatively newer songs... I don't know about catchy but you should look into Thrice (not so much their newest album but some of their stuff has some pretty catchy songs) Uh... trying to think of bands that you may not know (since I have no idea what you have or haven't heard...) get back to me on that. |
