fixed

Tyler 04-22-2008 12:58 AM

So is the new Atmosphere worth checking out then y or n? I didn't like "You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having", enjoyed Seven's Travels to a point and really enjoyed Godlovesugly and the Lucy Ford EPs. Haven't heard this " Strictly Leakage" business either.

(*The Noonward Race*) 04-22-2008 01:18 AM

guys more like Los Angeles

ATM 04-22-2008 01:07 PM

The new Grouch album is pretty sweet.

Other then that, haven't heard any new hip hop in awhile.

The new album is one of their best. Def a lot better than sevens travels, which I didn't like.

new nas song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB7O_mSuzJA

not very good.

pulseczar 04-24-2008 10:49 PM

nas is coming to my town. i'm so pumped. lyrically i don't mind that song, but damn the beat is too repetitive for one that isn't that great in the first place. but really i can't believe nas is coming, i haven't been to a concert in such a long time.

iamrockzorz 04-28-2008 09:19 PM

anyway.... new roots is good as hell.

Rams 05-01-2008 07:21 PM

I love how dumb the lyrics to that Nas song is.

"Not mad 'cause Eminem said nigga, 'cause he my nigga
wigga, cracker, friend - we all black within, okay?
We all African, okay
Some Africans don't like us no way!
A killng happened in Johannesburg, yesterday
Slain artist named Lucky Dube, hijacked
Some say N-double A-C-P, keep us sidetracked
But I don't buy that, I buy Aston Martins
Faster cars than, NASA cars in, sparkin while ridin
Critics, eat a dick! Journalists see I'm rich"

This is like Kanye level laughable.

ATM 05-02-2008 12:26 AM

Holy ****

Rock the Bells lineup is amazing...

I will spend any amount of money to go

Win A Rabbit 05-02-2008 12:31 AM

okay, the only rap/hip-hop i can stand:

rjd2
sole & the skyrider band
j dilla
dj shadow
the roots (some)

who should i check out? i'm starting to overplay these.

StreetlightRock 05-02-2008 12:47 AM

If you like RJD2 and DJ Shadow, definitely check out Cut Chemist, who is an amazing turntablist as well.

I've only really just gotten into rap, but I really started off with alot of leftfield non-typical stuff like CLOUDDEAd, Why?, Spank Rock, Deltorn 3030 and Dr. Octagon. I'm actually currently digging Organized Konfusion, who blow almost everyone else I've heard out of the water in the lyric department, and Pharoahe Monch's latest album, Desire, is really good/accessible too (i think anyway).

And has anyone here heard of The Herd? There an aussie Skip-Hop crew, really damn cool stuff they got going, I'm probably gonna see them sometime next month for the release of their new album tour =D

sgrevs 05-02-2008 08:21 AM

I know The Herd, they're alright, but nothing special to me.

Rabbit, check out Deltron 3030 for sure, some Doom and Madlib like MadVillainy...and maybe some Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow. Those three are awesome albums.

ATM 05-02-2008 09:04 AM

Time 05-02-2008 12:37 PM

^jesus thats such a good lineup.

Tyler 05-02-2008 12:55 PM

yeah holy **** that sounds unfairly amazing

sgrevs 05-02-2008 06:06 PM

Good hip-hop rarely comes to Australia, which sucks. A lineup like that would be totally sweet.
We had Busdriver and Dr. Octagon in the summer. Busdriver was awesome but Doc Oc kinda sucked unfortunately. That said, it was at a festival and the crowd was small and shit, so I hardly blame him.

irishmanshibby 05-02-2008 10:23 PM

nice man have fun at rock the bells...i went last year in new york it was sick, not going this year tho

ATM 05-04-2008 04:08 PM

Amit 05-06-2008 05:20 PM

no it isn't!

Iai 05-07-2008 03:38 AM

I heard that Mos Def/Pharoahe Monch/Nate Dogg track from Lyricist's Lounge again the other day. That track really deserves to be way more famous than it is.

Happymeal 05-07-2008 11:33 AM

I've been listening to "Swishas and Dosha" by UGK everyday for the past 2 weeks.

Is it called "Oh No"? That song is dope.

Arucard 05-07-2008 01:10 PM

Anyone a fan of uk stuff in here?

Apocalyptic Raids 05-07-2008 11:36 PM

I like Dizzee. That's pretty much all I know.

Iai 05-08-2008 02:42 AM
Is it called "Oh No"? That song is dope.
Yeah. Wicked track.

Glitterati 05-08-2008 03:45 AM

I need to heard Dizzee Rascal.

The only UK stuff I listen to/know of is The Streets.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-08-2008 03:55 AM
I need to heard Dizzee Rascal.
Maths + English is awesome, definitely look into it.

Iai 05-08-2008 05:15 AM

Boy in da Corner is better.

StreetlightRock 05-08-2008 06:37 AM

No wai! Well, it depends, me and my mate always have this arguement, he likes the rawness of Boy in da Corner, I love the refinement of Math + English.

Iai 05-08-2008 06:56 AM

Maths is probably slightly more consistent but Sittin Here, I Luv U, Fix Up Look Sharp, and Jus A Rascal are all better than any one song on it.

StreetlightRock 05-08-2008 07:24 AM

I dunno... Sirens is pretty up there.... Heh, but yea, that's probably a fair enough way at looking at it. Jus A Rascal is awesome.

sgrevs 05-08-2008 07:36 AM

I don't really like Sirens. My favourite off M+E is Pussyole. Boy In Da Corner is better fo sho.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-08-2008 08:34 AM

Pussyole and Where Da G's are probably my favourites. Sirens is pretty good too.
