You're talking about the fast version of Revolution, right?

dr._feelgood 09-10-2005 11:41 AM

There are two versions? (I'm a Beatles n00b, I apoligize.) I'm talking about the one with the roaring guitar intro, then the scream, and it just slows down to normal speed, and the lyrics start.

Jacaranda 09-10-2005 02:07 PM

Ya, there is Revolution 9 which is like 8 mins long and made up of like just noises, then Revolution 1 which is slow but the same layout like the fast one.

magicbus 09-10-2005 02:12 PM

The fast one you're talking about is just called Revolution, and it was released as a single. Revolution 1 and Revolution 9 are both on the White Album.

dr._feelgood 09-10-2005 02:27 PM

Oh, is Revolution 9 the one where he starts going "Number Nine, Number Nine" over and over again? What's with that? Isn't that the "Paul is dead" backwards message song?

Krabsworth 09-10-2005 08:58 PM

I always thought I was a real Beatles fan, I have all there albums, the anthology thing, etc, but on the radio today, I heard a song that had to be the Beatles, but I don't know what it is, the words are like this, "If you want it, here it is, come and get it", so what is this song called?

Leper 09-10-2005 10:27 PM

Don't worry, that's not the Beatles. That's by a band named "Badfinger," and the song is called "Come and Get it." They were around about the same time as the Beatles, and do kind of sound like them, so it's understandable.

DeusExMachina 09-10-2005 10:32 PM

Well, Badfinger were discovered by Paul McCartney. And McCartney wrote Come and Get It. Also, Badfinger comes from "Badfinger Boogie" which was the working title to a Beatles song (forget which one).

Seafroggys 09-10-2005 11:04 PM

Yeah Badfiner was also produced by Paul, at least for their first album, so the similarities is really close.

I saw the Magic Christian (with Peter Sellers and Ringo) and it was the first 'album' by Badfinger, and thought the music was really good. I've always wanted to invest more into them.

Krabsworth 09-10-2005 11:13 PM

I had that avatar back in the day :D

DeusExMachina 09-10-2005 11:14 PM

Yeah, I'm not really familiar with Badfinger. I should be.

I believe that was the working title for I get by with a little help from my friends. Def Leppards new single No Matter What is a cover of the original which was by Bad Finger. I decided to check out bad finger once i read McCartney signed them and everything, and they werent anything to special. But No Matter What is a good song...but Def Leppard sounds like some crappy college band when they sing it..its not Def Leppard's style at all.

Iron_Weed 09-10-2005 11:32 PM
Its an amazing song. Come Together is about the Beatles each verse describes one of them.
That did occur to me at one point actually, but I ended up dismissing it.

blue3 09-10-2005 11:34 PM

I like the song No Matter What. I didn't know it was by Badfinger until my dad told me when I was listening to Def Leppard's version.

-=Led_Hed=- 09-11-2005 12:55 AM

What has 9 arms and sucks... you guessed it Def Leoppard... heheh
anyway, just wondering, in I've Just Seen a Face is Ringo or Lennon singing

Seafroggys 09-11-2005 02:45 AM
Your set? Did you play a show recently or something? That would be very cool.
My drumset ;)

I wish my set. If I was to do a classic rock set with a band, this is what it would be:

Sgt. Pepper's/Pepper's Reprise Medley
White Room
Flight of the Rat
Lucky Man
We're Not Gonna Take It (See Me Feel Me onward)

DeusExMachina 09-11-2005 09:23 AM

That would be an awesome set. I wish I could play drums/had a drumset. I'm pretty limited to string instruments, unfortunately.

I'm 99% sure it's Paul actually.

Edit- I think Badfinger is really good. I've listened to their greatest hits, but don't own it. I saw it for just 5.99 though, which is really, really, cheap where I live, so I think I'll buy it next time I go to Sam Goody.

Krabsworth 09-11-2005 10:24 AM

Wait, so Come Together is about the Beatles themselves? If so is this how it is:

Ringo:
Here come old flattop he come grooving up slowly
He got joo-joo eyeball he one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker he just do what he please

George:
He wear no shoeshine he got toe-jam football
He got monkey finger he shoot coca-cola
He say "I know you, you know me"
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
Come together right now over me

John:
He bag production he got walrus gumboot
He got Ono sideboard he one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knee
Hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease
Come together right now over me

Paul:
He roller-coaster he got early warning
He got muddy water he one mojo filter
He say "One and one and one is three"
Got to be good-looking 'cause he's so hard to see
Come together right now over me

DeusExMachina 09-11-2005 01:09 PM

I don't see it. I'm not really sure how they are specifically about the membres of the band.

sandman420 09-11-2005 01:55 PM

I think if you changed around George and Ringo.

El_Goodo 09-11-2005 01:57 PM
What has 9 arms and sucks... you guessed it Def Leoppard... heheh
anyway, just wondering, in I've Just Seen a Face is Ringo or Lennon singing
Thats very sad...its neither.. It's Paul McCartney. And I dont think Come Together is about the beatles...it was made as a song for some guy running for office but then he was arrested and so John kept the song for himself.

DeusExMachina 09-11-2005 04:45 PM

Does it have any meaning besides politics?

I've recently fallen in love with the track "Happiness is a Warm Gun".

I gotta keep my out for white albums greats. When I first got it (about 2 monthes ago) Dear Prudence, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Birthday, and Helter Skelter, and Wild Honey Pie, really hit me hard.

But now I'm starting to dig further and further and realize this is really a great CD.

Only Bealtes song that I feel is really, really bad and pointless filler.

haha although I see your point, I love it, it's so weird and short..and weird.

The Pixies do a sweet job of covering it if I do say so myself.

Yeah they covered it live, if you have any file sharing software I really reccomend giving it a listen. They really add their own style to it.. You'll see what I mean..

Krabsworth 09-11-2005 08:33 PM
I think if you changed around George and Ringo.
I don't think so, the, "Got to be a joker" part has to be Ringo.

MBS 09-11-2005 08:47 PM

The spanish guitar bit at the end of "Wild Honey Pie" is rad.

Happiness Is a Warm Gun is a really great song. Used to be one of my favourite songs. I love songs that just go right into the singing :)

My bet's on George, but I don't know.

Flaminghotchino 09-11-2005 08:55 PM

Yeah I would think it's george as well..but I also thought perhaps it wasn't a beatle at all.. Might just be a sound effect..or someone else completely different playing..

But yeah if it was a beatle it was most likely George.

Illmatic 09-11-2005 09:28 PM

My opinion of The White Album dropped considerably when I listened to it on vinyl for the first time.

Back in the U.S.S.R., Dear Prudence, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Blackbird, Sexy Sadie, Helter Skelter, Revolution 9, and Revolution 1 are all great songs.

But there is just so much crap on there.

I kinda get what you mean.. a lot of it seems to be filler..

Thats why I personally think I love Sgt. Peppers so much.. not only did I grow up on it.. and not only are the songs so great.. But there is absolutely no filler. It's just a perfectly wonderful listening expierence through and through.

I don't even like Sgt. Pepper's though. "A Day in the Life" and "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" are the only really good songs on there, IMO.

Abbey Road, Revolver, and Rubber Soul are all perfect albums though, I think. And MMT is a great album too.

Flaminghotchino 09-11-2005 09:36 PM

I havent listened to abbey road much.. Revolver and Rubber Soul are wonderful..but I don't really listen to them straight through..

I can do that with MMT but I still think theres a bit of filler (Your Mother Should Know, Baby Your a Rich Man)

Idk I guess it's just weird for me to see how so many don't like Sgt. Peppers.. at first it seemed like a fad or something..or like people felt more unique too not like it... But I know your too intelligant for that..

I guess it may also have something to do with my love for psychedelic music.

I really think Sgt Peppers. Is one of the greatest records ever..

blue3 09-11-2005 09:38 PM

Really? I think Sgt. Pepper's is an awesome album. Rubber Soul and Sgt. Pepper's are my favorites right now.
