lol that was like said 30 minutes ago.
|
i thought you were talkin about the subliminal message thing...my bad
|
i thought we were too.
|
I didn't say they were good subliminal messages, I just said they were there.
But those are all reasons that go against it. |
oh man. how could you think they were satanic... they were just on drugs.
A good portion of us here are on drugs. But I'm not satanic, nor am I going to put satanic messages on my albums. |
im not on drugs, but i probably should be
|
A good portion of us here are on drugs. But I'm not satanic, nor am I going to put satanic messages on my albums.
I think if they were intended subliminal messages (and indeed if they weren't) Page at least had a good laugh over it. |
im not on drugs, but i probably should be
agreed. |
A good portion of us here are on drugs. But I'm not satanic, nor am I going to put satanic messages on my albums.
I bet you don't take as many drugs as Zeppelin did. |
I think if they were intended subliminal messages (and indeed if they weren't) Page at least had a good laugh over it.
i know. but really u can't call them subliminal messages. but if ur goin to do something like that, the least u can do is have fun with it :D |
I bet you don't take as many drugs as Zeppelin did.
lol no. i wasn't alive in the 70's to take as much as they did. look, all i'm saying is that possibly, and if, they did put messages in their songs, it was probably because of all the drugs they did to distort their vision of reality and basic understanding of the law. thats it. lol there. we can drop it. |
I bet you don't take as many drugs as Zeppelin did.
Is it really relevant? The point was made and I don't think there is anything argument. |
sigh, someone should come up with a new topic.
|
anyone heard the new yardbirds cd
|
anyone heard the new rush cd? the one that's all covers
|
sigh, someone should come up with a new topic.
I tried, and was scolded by all the Zeppelin fans in here. |
anyone heard the new rush cd? the one that's all covers
yeah. i love their cover of the seeker by the who. anyone see their 30th anniversary concert? |
refresh my memory. what was this topic about?
|
no, they came to my town and i can't believe i didn't go
|

|
anyone heard the new rush cd? the one that's all covers
I've heard two of the songs, and they weren't bad but i liked the originals alot more. |
the concert was amazing. neil peart is a drum god.
|
rush. i think.
i was referring to the guy above you |
I've heard two of the songs, and they weren't bad but i liked the originals alot more.
yeah the originals are better. i don't know about you guys, but i tend to like the original songs better only because theirs more feeling in those. |
Zeppelin stealing music
EDIT: to jp |
we did that topic
|
we did that topic
Did I say I was trying to bring it up again? |
A good portion of us here are on drugs. But I'm not satanic, nor am I going to put satanic messages on my albums.
I'm stoned :smoke: I like how Kerry King put it: "I don't believe in God, so I don't believe in Satan. But Satan is more fun to write about" - Guitar World, August 2004 |
Hmmm, by that I assume you mean the only three songs people tend to know about: Reaper, Godzilla, Burnin' (in short hand).
Out of those Godzilla is the best, but I've heard stuff that can bury these. Yeah, I unfortunately have their greatest hits CD, and have heard two of my dad's LPs (Agents of Fortune and Fires of Unknown Origins) which both were okay. But I must say that their pre-Reaper stuff kicked extraordinary ***. Cities on Flame, Flaming Telepaths, and Astronomy....oh my god! Especially Astronomy, one of the single greatest rock ballads of all time. Even some of the later seventies stuff was pretty decent that know one knows about (In Thee, Black Blade). However, I must admit after Albert Bouchard was kicked out, they really started making ****ty music. Anyway, I don't see whats really great about Don't Fear the Reaper (except that middle heavy section was pretty cool). But BOC does have plenty of hidden gems. Plenty. I plan on getting Secret Treaties as soon as I have CD money again.
You're pretty much spot on. After they kicked Albert out, the worst thing they did was Club Ninja. But that did have 'Perfect Water' on it, which is beautiful. So it wasn't that bad. And I have a rare live bootleg with some Club Ninja material on it, and that stuff kick a*s live! Then they did nothing except tour for a decade, but, they released two studio albums (Heaven Forbid, and Cure Of The Hidden Mirror) with Danny Miranda on bass, and Bobby Rondinelli on drums. Great albums, especially Heaven Forbid. And they released a live DVD and CD called 'A Long Days Night' which proves they've still got it. And Buck Dharma is better than ever. Amazing guitarist. Buck's Boogie (live) from the DVD/CD If you get a chance to see them, go for it. I saw them in June, it was awesome. |

I like how Kerry King put it: "I don't believe in God, so I don't believe in Satan. There is some stuff in there, yeah. Even Stairway played forwards has its messages.
I work with born again christians who study this stuff...they've told me the symbolism behind it, and it does make sense what they say. Not that I care, Zeppelin still owns. I trade Zepp bootlegs with one of those guys. He's a cool christian :) |

Yeah they had their messages, but the music still rocks. Jimmy Page was not a satanist, but he was very interested in the occult. He bought a noted satanist's house for whatever reason. It had no stairways in it, to heaven or otherwise. Aside from that, they were nothing more than the greatest band of the age. |
I Have Always Listened To Classic Rock Sence Well I Cant Remeber I Started Listening To It At School And Now All My Friends Love It. :naughty:
|
One of them told me he was going to pray for my soul
|
I don't know how popular they are outside of Canada, but does anybody like The Tragically Hip?
|
There's a difference between writing about satanism and believing in it. I dislike how people call the Eagles' satanic because Hotel California, for example. They wrote a fictional piece, that if anything condemns satanism and it bothers that people see certain symbols and immediately brand songs and artists as satanists.

Looks like I missed some amazing discussions...
Led Zeppelin used some songs from other artists but changed them enough to make people not realize. I've lost a little respect for them musicly but at the end of the day all that matters is what comes out of the sterio (sp). The fact is they made brilliant music (a lot of it which was 100% original) and that's all that really matters. On a side note the clasic rock radio station in my city played some Jeff healey. Therfore that makes him classic. Now you can put that in your bong and smoke it, badmoon :) (and the other non believers *shakes fist*). |
Not trying to start this again, but Zeppelin had a lot of great original songs, but we only mentioned the very few that were "Stolen".
And there is the myth about Led Zeppelin making a deal with the Devil to get their instant sucess. The only one who didn't make the deal was John Paul Jones. People who believe in this use Bonzo dying and Robert Plants Son dying as proof. The lyrics to "Nobodys Fault But Mine" also testify to this rumor. |
Rock, how come you keep getting banned?
|

Probably just some idiot with nothing better to do making up junk. I agree with the fact that they had great original songs and the songs that they "stole" they made even better than the originals. Saying "zeppelin stole songs" is like saying Hendrix stole all along the watchtower. I keep getting banned either for 1. Making threads that are fine but some idiot reports them to the site forum and basicly if anything get reported to the site forum it gets closed and the person gets banned. 2. Just plain spamming. I'm making an effort to stay out of the pit ;) |
