I believe he is. They are also working on getting pulse released on DVD.

magicbus 03-10-2005 03:01 PM

I don't think you need a capo to play Hey You. In fact, I'd learn it without one even if you do, because I like being able to play stuff without extra parts, like capos.

That is pure sex. Dear god.

As for Hey You, I don't play it with a capo. I've seen versions that call for the capo, however. Gilmour, you need to win the R&Mer of the month competition! I voted you number one.

Kingofdudes 03-10-2005 05:17 PM

Hahaha im not gonna win, maybe I will when 99% of the other eligible winners win a month.

Next month I will be playing my first live show. Me, my brother(guitrguy) and this other dude we know are are gonna cover Wish you Where Here. My bro is gonna do the 12 string, while I do the leads. I gotta switch guitars halfway through so I can do the first bit on standard tuning, and switch over to Open G so I can do the slide solos. I havent palyed much slide before, so I hope I dont mess it up :-/

I thought Brian was the singer? Ah well. I'm sure you'll have a blast. Next thing, you should tour to Australia.

Snaps. Good luck! guitrguy is your brother? Man... he was the pretty much the main poster in my Beatles thread for awhile. That's cool. Your family has good music taste. I'm going to play the Battle of the Bands at my school for three different bands, and am going to perform at least one Pink Floyd song. Probably Comfortably Numb, and something like Time or Money if I can convince them. Although I'm playing with an acoustic group... Wish You Were Here would go nicely with that one.

magicbus 03-10-2005 07:38 PM

Good luck at the show Gilmour! I really want to play a PF song at our talent show (in addition to Sunshine of Your Love), and until now I figured Comfortably Numb, but Hey You would be a good choice too. I can sing these songs so they'd make a good pick.

NP - Hey You. This solo rules.

pigonthewing82 03-10-2005 07:51 PM

You know I never realized this before but Roger Waters' lyrics are really Beatles influnced. I mean its really interesting to see the effect the have on them. For example the phrase "inciting and inviting me" is used in Echoes, and Across the Universe (whitch Roger has covered)

Well, I just bought Amused To Death, by Roger, and it is amazing how much some of the lyrics remind me of The Beatles. However, a lot of it (as a whole) reminds me of Animals.

PeenkPhloide 03-11-2005 10:36 AM

After buying all of Floyd's cds, my dad tells me he had all their albums down the cellar. Well, I finally went down and looked, and they were all there. The cover art for "A Nice Pair" was quite witty. and also awesome.

That solo and the lyrics after it is my favorite part of The Wall.

That sucks and rocks at the same time!

I prefer the later solo

PeenkPhloide 03-11-2005 02:46 PM

I'm doing Another Brick in the Wall at our talent show, mostly because our drummer only has 2 months of experience. We sound pretty good though. It also took me forever to get my bassis to play it, as he dudn't like pf. Eh.

You lucky bum. I'd definitely be willing to drop all that money to find all of the Pink Floyd records.

As for the whole lyrics thing, I can see it in some cases, but definitely not others. Lyrics like Time or Money don't seem very Beatles-esque.

Distant Echoes 03-11-2005 03:04 PM

Im a little more then halfway of purchsing all the floyd albums, not including bootlegs, which i do want to get. Im starting to get a diverse collection of DVDs too. For Floyd, by the end of the year, i want to own them performing dsotm live, Live at Pompeii (which i have), THe Wall, and a bootleg. im workin on it already

DeusExMachina 03-11-2005 03:08 PM

Good plan. I have quite a few of their CD's, but I definitely want to get the rest of them.

Yea whats cool is he gives them credit in "Let There Be More Light" "For there revealed in flowing robes was Lucy in the Sky"

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-11-2005 05:24 PM

So dudes. I just realized that the most underrated solo has to be out of Young Lust. It's beautiful. Anyone else feel the same way?

It's not bad, but the song itself is awesome, yet so underrated.

I don't think its the most underrated, but I greatly enjoy it. I really like the solo from The Thin Ice. In combination with the visuals in the movie, it kinda just explodes at you. I love that. The same thing goes for Mother.
