this man knows whats up. |
Is anyone excited here for the new album.I see a lot of people saying it sucks, which is unfortunate. I LOVE the new Slipknot CD. It comes out August 26th on RoadRunner Records and it is sure to please all you maggots out there! It's (sic)!

lol
|
I think it's silly that people are saying Slipknot sold out with this new album.
Slipknot sells out every day |
If they sold out they would have made an album with actual hooks on it.
|
/likes the new hooks :(
|
no my joke was there are very few hooks on the album
|
I felt like there were a good amount. And they weren't really lame like the ones on Duality and Before I Forget.
it's whatever though |
In my opinion you can't sell out. Just make good music. And that's what slipknot does.
|
yeah bro stay (sic)

Your "logic" escapes me.
|
Their attempt at playing off of Meshuggah's sound begs to differ.
|
i'm totally remembering all of the threads and posts from when the last Slipknot album came out
god help us all |
That was so long ago, and right around the time I joined this site.
I like AHIG more than Vol. 3 |
Hey, yeah I know i'm new here. But my point is I think music is an artistic expression. And whatever you feel you want to do is valid. Meaning you can't sell out because it's art. I know it's not the "normal" with songs like snuff. But it still is a "slipknot" album. I'm a huge fan of them, but I won't say i'm a blind follower. I love this new CD as it's own and I don't plan on comparing it to their other works. I feel each album is it's own piece and deserves to be looked at as such.

lololol
josh, the original guitarist produced my bands first demo way back in the day js |

I thought S/T and Iowa were hook heavy
josh, the original guitarist produced my bands first demo way back in the day js
orly? Brainard was awesome on MFKR. |

I was talking in regards to the new album being evidence of them selling out. |
if heavy music is going to crack the mainstream why cant it be good heavy music that really annoys me
You really think that there is no appeal at all? |
Protest The Hero should be the new Nickelback.
|
pickelback
|
they wouldnt have gotten the press they have if it wasnt for the masks
you cannot be 4 albums into your career, with millions of fans and make shitty music seriously |
i think they keep changing them cause it would probably be completely boring and stupid to have the same thing on every album, if thats what they were choosing to do
and i've seen enough live videos to know, they're not bad one bit your opinion is flawed |
its also good to have your balls waxed
i hear |
i would
smoothe as eggs i tell you |
oh no i do get why they are so popular but i dont care what anybody else says about this but they wouldnt be as big as they are, or even famous at all if it wasnt for the masks
you know at the time, 1998 when they recorded the self-titled, roadrunner etc, it was different and people digged it
Meh, good for them for having a wise marketing plan.
well you can, though i dont think that some of the fans would even be fans at all if they didnt wear those masks its the thing that anybody associates slipknot with, fan or not (why do you think they keep changing the masks every album)
Mmm... c'mon, I don't think people are that shallow that they would listen to a band just because of their image. You're understating their music. As a matter of fact, I'd reckon Slipknot would have a whole different audience if they didn't have their same image. |
You're understating their music
understanding? i think you meant underrating or something along those lines lol |
yeah maybe but would they be making the same sounding music?
i dont think they would be as heavy without the masks and they certinally wouldnt have 9 people in the band so without the guy who hits trash cans and occasionally screams down a mic they would just be another 4 or 5 piece band and looking the way they do, i dont think they would crack the mainstream like they have done.
Well, at their MFKR stage, they already had the masks going on, the two percussionists and a sampler. The music between MFKR and S/T isn't too different. But again, if they had stayed away from the gimmicky stuff, perhaps they may have made much more 'heavier' music, without cracking the mainstream.
understanding? i think you meant underrating or something along those lines lol
un·der·state: 1. To state with less completeness or truth than seems warranted by the facts. 2. To express with restraint or lack of emphasis, especially ironically or for rhetorical effect. 3. To state (a quantity, for example) that is too low. edit: underrate = understate |
