gabey667 07-03-2004 11:15 AM

Hey Hey! I'm not sure if I'm Thrash enough to join, so I'll wait until I get my demo done and let you people decide (pretty wide array of music).

Is Lamb of God Thrash?

GraveRobbersINC 07-03-2004 11:19 AM

^Not really, they're metalcore, or just crap IMO.

gabey667 07-03-2004 11:28 AM

Sorry, I'm a noob: what is IMO?

how about Soilwork?

sensitiveorgan00 07-03-2004 11:36 AM

IMO = In my opinion

GraveRobbersINC 07-03-2004 12:12 PM

Soilwork is Melodic Death

Ratmevilempire 07-03-2004 12:12 PM

From the bands your listing I bet you aren't thrash enough to clean my ****ter. IMO hehe.

gabey667 07-03-2004 09:46 PM

I'm trying to think of someone new and just bordering on thrash... It's hard man... I could name off like ****in Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, Sodom, Kreator, Testament, etc. etc. or I could be ****in original and pick someone you wouldn't think of, but would force you to say "yeah, ok...".

How much vynil do you own???

I wouldn't call Soilwork death... but that still doesn't mean I'm cleaning your ****ter RATMEE. May Angela Gossow eat your children! (not really :) )

I'll try to find some Imajika, I've heard they're decent by your 'thrashnazi' standards  (I kid), but I'll check them out first

GraveRobbersINC 07-04-2004 06:28 AM

So I'm gonna pre-order 4 of the Megadeth re-releases so I can get one of those autographed Vic Posters. I was thinking Peace Sells, So Far, So Good, Rust in Peace, and Countdown to Extinction. What do you think?

Ratmevilempire 07-04-2004 09:57 AM

Why so far so good? And to gabey:I own lots of vinyl, not much thrash but I have a ton of vinyl.Anyone want to hear about Van Halen last night?

gabey667 07-04-2004 01:32 PM

Shady Ultima 07-04-2004 02:49 PM

Speaking of Vinyl, my uncle has a signed copy of Kill 'em all!

Too bad I've only seen it once and will never touch it

Griffin_Page 07-04-2004 08:07 PM

To Shady (From the Spam thread for band sites):

No, I'm talking about you guys. No offense, but I think it looks really really funny when short-haired people headbang on stage. Grow some hair if you want to thrash!! :P

Corporal Compendia 07-04-2004 08:25 PM

The days get closer and closer for the Gates of Hell, AKA, THE SHOW OF THE YEAR!

I'm going to Thrash up a storm at that show... I'm going old school. Sleeveless Jean jacket covered in patches(Hellhammer, Sacrifice, Razor, Obituary, etc.)... Fingerless gloves, SOD shirt... oh yes, I will own.

Let's see, what else has been in my thrash department lately... uh... I've been listening to the new Infernal Majesty quite a bit... I guess that's about it.

reidster90 07-04-2004 08:31 PM

Im in (AOS)

Corporal Compendia 07-04-2004 08:34 PM

I love this "Clan". Everybody just invites themselves.

naboo 07-04-2004 08:45 PM

lol, it's true... i saw a vid of me onstage after I shaved my head down to 1/4". It was the most pathetic thing I think I have ever seen! It's been at least shoulder length ever since.

Testament songs: Trial by Fire, (don't hate me for this!!!) The Ballad, The Legacy, Practice What You Preach, and Together as One.

Corporal Compendia 07-04-2004 09:28 PM

Well, well... it seems RAZOR are professionally recording their set at the Gates of Hell show for a DVD now. So that means I'm going to have to teach everyone a lesson in thrash! I will get myself on that DVD!!! Just you wait. :P

"See that guy that just got smashed and knocked over?! THAT WAS ME!!!"

I have an idea for a game. As we're all Thrash lovers and I expect many of us play Guitar....why don't we have a competition to see who can play the fastest out of everyone? I'm not bothered if anyone doesn't take me up on the offer, it's just an idea.

Kerry King talks about song writing for the new album

SLAYER guitarist Kerry King recently spoke to Metal Edge magazine about the songwriting process for the group's long-awaited follow-up to 2001's "God Hates Us All"

"We've got twelve new songs, and we were playing before [drummer] Dave [Lombardo] went back out with FANTOMAS, minimal lyrics, but we got twelve songs that are 90 percent done. We just have to go in and record them. Then we come to find out that [American Records head honcho] Rick Rubin's deal is up again with Universal, and I will lay million-to-one odds he ain't there in two months. So for us to put out a record doesn't make sense right now, because if we put it out on Universal, they would have it for two months and they wouldn't promote it. Then, whichever company would pick it up wouldn't promote it, because it would have been out for two months, so it's just as well. But there might be another DVD with Dave on it, we are talking about that right now."

With regards to whether Dave had a say in the new material, Kerry said, "I mean, when [guitarist] Jeff [Hannemann] brings stuff in, they are on a drum machine, but I still record my riffs the way I did twenty years ago — I just put them on that same jam box, with a Radio Shack mic, because I am too lazy to get into the digital eight-track, and the drum machine. I know it's fun, I know it's easy, but I would rather take a tape down and say, 'Dave, here you go.' He is like, 'Really, I got an idea for that there.' I am like, 'Show me what you got.' I will turn him loose on it, because he might think of something I never did — he is the drummer. If it is just not floating, I will say, 'Well, this is what I had in mind, try this.' One or the other is going to be pretty kick-***."

Asked what the major difference is between and Dave and former drummer Paul Bostaph's drumming styles, Kerry replied, "Dave definitely brings something else to the puzzle — the way he plays is more rootsy and organic, and he is the guy that could just get up in the morning and play anything. He doesn't have to work at it, ho don't got to practice, he is a natural. So he brings things to the table that are so rudimentary, btu so cool. You would never think of them because they are so simple. He will bring something up like, 'Why don't we do this?' I will be like, '****, never thought of that…' He is more punky than Bostaph as well. Dave is big-time into the old Southern Cal punk, like all of us are, so it's just a different vibe. I mean, it was good, and 'God Hates Us All', with Bostaph, is probably Bostaph's crowning achievement. The next one, I think, is going to be like 'God Hates Us All', with a twist of 'Seasons [In the Abyss]' mixed in it, because Dave brings something else to the table. It is going to take awhile."

triple post :D
