and someone tell me if Windir is any good. Been putting getting one of their albums for a couple years now.

yeah, nacht was the first one i got into so i've always liked that one, but recently i've been listening to s/t more and more and it ****ing rules so hard. i definitely agree with you about welt aus eis, so cold and bleak

Agreed, that song is how black metal should sound. It's not supposed to be pretty and over-produced and all that ****, cold, distant, bleak...trve kvlt black metal ritual.

Violins in that song are ughhhhhhawesome

Yeah I was skeptical before actually hearing the song but wow, yeah the violins sound just perfect in that song.

Yeah, you really need to re-give the album a listen. It's on par with Like a Blaze Above the Ashes for me

edit: definitely get 1184 as well. Journey to the End is amaaaazing

The first song on Winterkalte is his best song I think, maybe I just think that because I like that album more though

Listening to [I]Nacht[/I] right now, bleakest **** ever. More so than his other releases. Every time I hear that growling right before the guitars kick in on Nacht I I get chills.

EDIT: yeah Nate that song is very good, too.

i like winterkaelte but it's too ****ing long to listen to in one sitting, and i dont like leaving an album like that halfway

Agreed, [I]Nacht[/I] is mad long, too but I feel like it flows better and holds my attention better.

EDIT: the wind samples are croosh, noob.

they're okay but they definitely drag on far too long

and nacht is pretty lengthy but it's not as long as winterkaelte

[I]Winterkalte[/I] is only like 20 minutes longer than [I]Nacht[/I].

20 minutes is a quarter of the total space a standard CD can hold, so it makes a big difference
