This sucks. :(
Yea, I saw something about that on TV and read about it in Rolling Stone, sucks.

I hope you all exercise your right to vote for Widespread Panic, being the decent law-abiding CR regulars you all are :p

ATM 08-22-2005 08:44 PM

I listened to Peter Gabriel for the first time at work today.

Glitterati 08-22-2005 08:45 PM

That sucks about CBGB's :( A lot of history in that place.
I listened to Peter Gabriel for the first time at work today.
And? What'd you think?

Jam2Me 08-22-2005 08:48 PM

I went to Allman Brothers/moe. last night...it was obviously frickin' awesome. They played all their great songs, the highlights were a Derek and the Dominos cover of "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad" it's kind of an obscure cover but I just happened to be playing that CD on the way up so I was all over it. Then the guitarist from moe. Al Schnier came out and jammed with ABB minus Gregg they did an amazing cover of "Franklin's Tower" featuring Oteil on lead vocals. That jam last about 7 minutes they played some riffs from "Truckin' " in the middle of the jam and then flowed back into "Franklin's Tower." moe. was pretty awesome as an opener but they had a weak close..they played a watered down jam and they left it at that. As long as they played "Happy Hour Hero" it satisifed me so I was happy. All in all it was a sick *** concert with lots of pot and black and milds and the stars were out it was really awesome.

jpj 08-22-2005 08:51 PM
amazing cover of "Franklin's Tower"
Well, that show was obviously a hundred times better than the one I was at :upset:

If I remember correctly they opened with Statesboro Blues, and the encore was a very odd version of Southbound with Al Schnier.

bah! /jealous
It sounds like I have something to look forward to next weekend. I will miss moe. though. That's really cool that they played Franklin's Tower

Did you happen to see any girls with huge blonde (pink?) dreads? Hahah... My friend Jenny was the only one I know who got to go to it, as unlikely as that is

Jam2Me 08-22-2005 09:11 PM

I actually saw like 3 or 4 blondes with dreads so I probly saw her unknowingly.

I wrote down the set list kinda..

They opened up with Stand Back>the low point was when they played two songs from Hittin' the Note that I don't remember> they bounced back with Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad>Franklin's Tower>Midnight Rider>One Way Out>Drums Solo (15 minutes..it was eh ok)>Bass Solo (really good)>Black Hearted Woman>Encore>Whipping Post>Melissa>Little Martha They kinda had two encores because they all left then Gregg came back out with an acoustic and they played more. They were supposed to stop at 10:30 I think but they played 'til 11.

I'm not a big fan of "Whipping Post" live, including the version on Live at Fillmore...Gregg's vocals are so off in the chorus it just ruins everything...they crowd is singing along then he has his offbeat singing it just doesn't fit, it could be better.

jpj 08-22-2005 09:18 PM

I really like Hittin' the Note, they played Woman Across the River, Maydelle, Instrumental Illness, and they may have played Rockin' Horse I can't quite remember. All those songs are kickass.

yeah, Bob Dylan sort of did that with "Like A Rolling Stone", but you could hear the entire place singing/chanting it, so it was pretty cool

barrett420 08-22-2005 10:09 PM

Just bought a really cool Frank Zappa and a Syd Barrett shirt.

I'm so excited, don't get shirts too often. Can't wait till they arrive. :D

Oh yah sorry Schyma I spent our drug money on cool new shirts.

Mekkalayakay 08-23-2005 08:05 AM

Glitterati 08-23-2005 11:20 AM
so is this like the biggest thread in rock and metal
Probably. This is the only thread I go into regularly in R & M.

Lunch 08-23-2005 11:21 AM

It probably won't be that long before the community thread overlaps us again, but it will get closed and a new one will start.

Broken Arrow 08-23-2005 11:38 AM

Yeah, I dont think I even have a post in the new one.

As soon as the community thread reaches more pages/posts than us, it must be closed!

Broken Arrow 08-23-2005 11:51 AM

angusmaster 08-23-2005 03:43 PM

My brother is tryin to get me into Jack Johnson , but i really dont like that kind of music that much.

Jam2Me 08-23-2005 03:43 PM

Well AC/DC and Jack Johnson are polar opposites.
