My brother went to WVU on Thursday, it made me wish I was going to college :( I don't know if any of you guys have been there, but Morgantown, WV is a cool place (though a little dirty :p)
|
That's cool, guitar jams are still real fun :thumb:
i wish i had more guitar jams :upset: , but my friends who play just arent as devoted to it as i am. |

My brother went to EIU on Thursday. |
Wow. Must be exciting. My sister's leaving next week to go to Ottawa for university, so I kinda know what it's like.
I got paid today for what little work I did at my summer job. $65. Added with what's in my bank account, and some money scrounged from around my room, I'm loaded right now. Next week, I've decided to blow a bunch of it on CDs
What school in Ottawa? I checked out UOttawa and Carlton during spring break, I really like the town. McGill is cool too, i would kill to go to college in Canada, but it's so hard to get any information on any Canadian schools (except McGill and maybe Queens) Know any? I've never been to WV, but I have heard the skiing is worth checking out |

I didn't like the campus on that one much, but they have alot of cool programs |
Late but... moe. > j00
I disagree...they're from the school of the Grateful Dead in that they noodle on forever and ever and you just beg for sudden death, for either you or them. Just IMO. The Allman Brothers Band are the only jam band I like, and they're not even a straight jam band. PinkFreud: College is AWEsome...I think I'm leaving on Tuesday. Either Tuesday or Wednesday. |
The Allman Brothers Band are the only jam band I like, and they're not even a straight jam band.
Thats about the way i am , but grateful dead is alright. |
The Allman Brothers Band are the only jam band I like, and they're not even a straight jam band.
The Allman Brothers live at Fillmore East is a great live album, and this is coming from someone who doesn't like live albums. |
Yep. Then again so is Good Charlotte :(. Some teenagers are more cool than others I guess.
Good Charlotte are crap in comparison to classic rock. |
I think I'm gonna go watch Gov't Mule's Deepest End DVD. It owns so hard, Jack Casady, Les Claypool, Roger Glover, Mike Gordon, Dave Schools, Victor Wooten, and more all at the same show. A recipe for awesomeness.
Good Charlotte are crap in comparison to classic rock.
lol |

Thank you so much for saying that. We had no idea people felt that way |
RIGHT ON!!!!!

I believe that was one of those first page quotes. Again.
I believe that was one of those first page quotes. Again.
It was. |

*cough* Mountain Jam, Elizabeth Reed, Whipping Post, You Don't Love Me *cough* You liking of the Allman Brothers kind of undermines your hate for the Grateful Dead's jamming. Surely, the Allmans jam as much if not more than the Dead. Unless you also dislike the Allmans' excessive noodleing also. And I'd say their as Jam Band as it gets. |
Well, I can barely listen to more than a few minutes of Mountain Jam, and I prefer the studio versions of Whipping Post and Elizabeth Reed.
But the Allmans have more self-control than the Dead do...they more easily reign themselves in. |
But the Allmans have more self-control than the Dead do
Oh, I certainly wouldn't say so. Each jam it seems like Dickey wants to pull out another couple of minutes of pentatonic and Duane wants to show off a couple more familar slide runs. But that's just my opinion. |
Well, maybe the Allmans are just as prone as the Dead to noodle too much, but the Allmans' material is much, much better and more interesting than the Dead's, which is something we will certainly disagree on.
|
I'm not sure what my position is on this arguement, though I seem to prefer the Allman's longer jams (Whipping Post, Mountain Jam, Elizabeth Reed) to the Dead's (Dark Star, The Eleven, Turn on Your Lovelight).
I can see where both of you are coming from though. |
i wish i had more guitar jams :upset: , but my friends who play just arent as devoted to it as i am.
Same here. I actually don't have any guitar jams because nobody around here plays. Mean Streets, eh Moon? |
Almost all of them play a little , but they like doin other stuff , for example , they play guitar about 2 to 3 hours a week , i play about 4 hours a day./congrats to this thread , its gotten half of my posts.
|
Same here. I actually don't have any guitar jams because nobody around here plays.
Mean Streets, eh Moon?
I used to have Acoustic Guitar Club, which was a blast, but I never see any of those guys during the summer (bah I was the only girl :upset: ) Sometimes my sister/sister's friend have some jams, which is funny because her friend's dad is setting them up to play at the Guthrie Center, (The Church from the Thanksgiving part of Alice's Restaurant is nearby) and they won't even practice, the fools I reckon Jam2Me is seeing ABB/moe. at this very moment. I'll have to tape it when I go |
I listen to classic rock like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppeling, Alice Cooper, Ect. And still listen to some newer stuff like Clutch, Turbonegro, and other bands.
|
Mean Streets, eh Moon?
Yea, good movie. |
I listen to classic rock like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppeling, Alice Cooper, Ect.
Alot of people on this thread are like that , thats why its called classic rock , but i dont really like the newer bands. |
Yea, good movie.
I'm seeing it soon, I hear good things. |
Yea, good movie.
I didn't think it was very good. Aside from starring Keitel and DeNiro, and being one of Scorcese's, I think this movie sucked. |
My review of Bridge Over Troubled Water
Replie'd. Simon & Garfunkel are cool. |

Many do, I'm not surprised that you didn't like it. The style at the time was quite original, but these days has been overdone, so the originality is almost lost. Many others seem to find much of it irrelevent also. And of course the more realilistic fighting scenes, which mean they're more cheesy and less professional. I thought it was pretty good the first time I saw it, because I was just plain into it. But it was the second time where I really like, because I knew concept and realized the troubles Keitel's character was going through. I was able to pick out more details and such. Perhaps you should watch it a second time. The acting is great also, but that's a given; anything with Keitel or DeNiro will have great acting. Though, I do not like how DeNiro gets most the credit, and even gets spotted as the main character. I was much more impressed by Harvey's acting and he is undoubtebly the main character. The sound track is really interesting too--Italian traditional folk/60's Pop-Soul/"Jumpin' Jack Flash". :p |

It just didn't seem like there was any plot at all, and the scenes didn't seem to tie in with each other. Maybe I'll try watching it again. |

I had the best night trip ever last night. I sat on my roof and listined to Sigur Ros' Ágætis Byrjun and watched the moon and the stars. It was one of the most rewarding expirences of my life. :D

Has anyone heard of the Church?
I have recently discovered that album. It's a great album to listen to when you can't sleep. Sort of monumental, profound and moving, just like every other Icelandic artist I have ever heard Speaking of stripping/shrooms, I found some cool ones in the woods today. Big white ones, little brown ones, indian pipes and tiny little clusters of orange ones I only got pics of the white ones before my camera died :upset: |

Wow. I just saw Eric Burdon over at the B.B. King Bar and Grill, and it was incredible. Who knew the Animals were that good? Burdon's voice still sounds great, almost as good as it did 40 years ago. Just he wasn't able to hit afew high notes, but still, he was amazing. The guitarist and keyboardist apparently held back on the recordings, for today they took long and very immperssive solo's. Even the drummer had one 12 minute solo. It may have been the best show I've seen. Who knew?
