Me its RTL and MOP in first and AJFA and KEA in second. So many of their best songs are on those albums IMO. I have trouble deciding which is my favorite.

The_Riddler 11-16-2005 03:07 PM
The thing that should not be is a an ok song IMO. I skip most of the time when I listen to MOP though.

And I dont agree with the Black Album being with one of their best albums...tha album gets boring to me after one listen about....except for a few songs.
I liked it when I first bought it. I still can't get enough of "My Friend of Misery" that song is one of my all time favorite Metallica songs. I don't know which one is their best, it's to hard to choose, and I change my mind frequently.

GenuineImitation 11-16-2005 03:08 PM
Oh God does the Black Album get annoying!

I usually TTTSNB too.

RTL is my favorite album
I dont think the black album gets boring. RTL is my favorite album also. It was my first Metallica cd and its the one I listen to the most.

Sadbutrue16 11-16-2005 04:07 PM
LoL Did anyone ask?

I'm gonna download the songs I want from that show. But I have to say
pretty much every Metallica performance from that era sounds exactly the same....Horrible!
Actually yeah someone did ask...so please dont post without knowing sh!t ;/ jk your actually pretty cool..someone did ask what the worst song was so yeah.

Kyle 11-16-2005 04:31 PM

I would second the boringness of the Black Album, I can get into St Anger more than I can get into the Black Album...scary.

Father_Jack 11-16-2005 05:09 PM
I would second the boringness of the Black Album, I can get into St Anger more than I can get into the Black Album...scary.
Yeah, but the stand out songs of the Black Album like Wherever I may Roam and Of Wolf and Man (my favourites off that album), beat the stand out songs on St. Anger. But overall atm I am feeling St Anger more than Black Album.

Off Topic, I was watching Spinal Tap last night, Black Album = Smell the Glove

Dude chill out....did you see the Lol in the front? that means I'm being sarcastic

Did I ask if I was cool?

Okay enough. I'll stop screwing with you.

It's not that the Black Album is "Boring" it's just that I can't take it big
doses and I can't take it too often

Aw3someman 11-16-2005 05:36 PM

uh he said JK dude. It's called sarcasm. (lol) Ah the irony. RtL is my fav. followed by MoP they just reached this "nirvana"(not the band the attainment level in buddhism) in those two albums. Then Jason came and w/ AJFA they were still awesome but not AS awesome. Jason's pretty kick *** though. he should have played bass rhythms rather than backing hetfields rythms. probably since it was his first album though he didn't go to all out.

vashts80 11-16-2005 05:43 PM

Hammett is definitely not the best guitarist in metal. Hello, Chuck Schuldiner, Marty Friedman, Jeff Loomis? Not to mention Hammett hardly writes anything besides the solos. And most of them are wah drenched slopfests anyway (the only wah solo I like is Outlaw Torn's solo)

Hetfield is a good rhythm player, I guess. Singing while playing Battery with 95% downstrokes = rad.

Yeah same here, i kinda regret of buying that cd. I rarely listen to it. And when i do listen to it, Ill listen to it for a short period of time before i get "bored".

Ok, enough with the negative, who is everybodies favorite Metallica instrumantal ?

Good would be an understatement. I don't know anyone (including myself) that can sing while playing some of the progressions that he plays. I get close on some songs but damn.

Yeah there are better soloist than Kirk, but I as a listener don't necessarily listen to a song because it's hard to play, I just want to know if it sounds good overall.

For the longest time it was the call of the ktulu for me, but I'm starting to like Orion more. It has a lot more emotion in it and the bass is just awesome.

Stormrider 11-16-2005 06:06 PM

Im glad to see you guys like it too...Its also my favorite. One of my favorite Metallica songs. Not only instrumental. Theres sometihng about it that makes it so good but i cant explain...

I wanted to do a cover of it in my GB class but we don't have a skilled bassist that is willing to do it.:upset:

Thats unfortunate. I have to start by seeing Metallica live first. Maybe ill get lucky and theyll play the whole song. My bro was at the concert when they played Dyers Eve...

Yeah I got to miss out on seeing them too. Apparently my older bro and sis got to see them during the Madly in Anger at the World tour, and just decided to NOT invite me. Even though I own almost all of their studio albums and was but a couple paychecks away from buying their boxset. ( I bought a new guitar instead)

6stringslinger 11-16-2005 06:22 PM

hopefully, they are excited and back in the studio working on the second part of ST.Anger.........NOT

Hopefully we get an album and tour in 06-07

Stormrider 11-16-2005 06:24 PM

Let me guess, a Les Paul ?

Ill look pretty stupid if im wrong....I only own KEA, RTL, MOP and the Black album. MY bro has AJFA though. Frankly, those albums are the only ones i want. Im not realy interested in the others like Load and Reload etc...

I didn't like LPs all that much either until I recently bought one. (not a gibson just a copy) The action is great and the grind you get while playing Blackened through a Line 6 spider II is just so damn evil.

Stormrider 11-16-2005 07:06 PM

Ide like to try one, see if I like it but there so expensive, im gunno look for something else as a second guitar...

Though I wanted to try one because John Schaeffer in Iced Earth has one :p

I've heard of Iced Earth but never listened to them. I've gotta expand my music tastes even more.:upset:

What's the hardest metallica solo that you've tried to learn?

Seriously get into some Iced Earth.

I havnt realy tried any Metallica solos. Except for the lil thing in Sanitarium and the first solo in Orion ( i love it !) . I honestly havnt played any Metallica in a while.
I know one or 2 Iced solos and like 1 from Blind Guardian. As rythm though, i love me some galloping.

Whats the hardest Metallica solo youve tried ?

Blackened. Playing harmonic minor sounds awesome but is a bitch to play.
Plus you have that whole speed picking sequence down the high e thing and that takes a while to play. Once you learn it, it sounds golden though.:thumb:

I also found the solo to RTL kinda difficult though there are others here that would disagree. I found that tapping exactly as was written in my RTL book is a pain and I doubt the book even got it right anyways.

.:Thrasher:. 11-16-2005 07:31 PM

RTL does anyone know how much albums that sold

lightningmetal666 11-16-2005 07:35 PM

The last song that I've tried to learn from them (I'm on a break from playing metal to get in touch with my blues side) was shortest straw.

Ill eventualy try out the RTL solo, that and the Creeping Death one. They both look hard though. I have the RTL, AJFA and the KEA tab booklets, tabs arent all right though...
