You're lucky Walrus, I know only one person that I know that comes a mile within my musical plain. :-/

That Buena Vista Social Club song was awsome Moon. I can't wait til' I can download the entire album from the Other YSI thread. :)

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-20-2005 10:07 PM

You guys should hear the **** this Jazz book that I just got at my libary has to say about Rock. They say Rock musicians don't know anything about writing music they just know how to make music people will like. They say Miles Davis was a disgrace to the Jazz comunity for converting to Fusion because he just wanted to please the mainstream crowd and make some money "even if the music was horrible". Even if he slightly sold out; to state that the music is horrible as a fact should be a crime! I can't beleive this book!

Does the Jazz comunity really think that bad of Rock musicians?

thunderzstruck 08-20-2005 10:29 PM

I don't think to that extreme, even thought alot of them maybe slightly eliest (sp?)

Lunch 08-20-2005 10:30 PM

The tr00 Jazz Community probably does think rock musicians are all crappy.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-20-2005 10:42 PM

Generaly: Jazz musicians > Rock musicians

BUT you could be the greatest musician in the world and still not write an enjoyable peice of music. They're saying Rock musicians can't write songs which is COMPLETLY untrue.

My post count: 3666

So...yeah

PinkFreud 08-20-2005 10:48 PM

jazz musicians are generally more technically talented than rock musicians. but thats stupid. miles davis was just moving with the times. musicians who are so rigid in their style get swept away.

but yeah, i doubt every jazz musician is as elitist and close minded as that.

edit: moe can get on my nerves. its good that you enjoyed the allmans though. whatd you think of derek trucks?

Part of the beauty of Rock is that you don't have to be that talented to play it but you do need talent to write it. Just look at the Dandy Warhols. Very simple instumentals but very good good song writting. The Beatles too!

PinkFreud 08-20-2005 11:13 PM

true, but i enjoy music with prodigious chops present as well. and sometimes i dont even care if the songwriting is subpar. if the playing is top-notch, i can ignore it.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-20-2005 11:24 PM

I think songwritting is the greatest aspect in music.

PinkFreud 08-20-2005 11:29 PM

im inclined to agree with you, but there are definite exceptions.

to each their own though. diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.

MCA2112 08-21-2005 12:52 AM

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-21-2005 01:42 AM

I'm tripping so bad.

Mushrooms+++++

Badmoon 08-21-2005 01:51 AM

Speaking of mushrooms...

The last time I got high, I felt like I did the first time I did shrooms, but with less hallucinations; I was really freaking out, and scared as hell. That all came after some friends and I finished a fat blunt, four bowls, two cigars and three beers.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-21-2005 02:15 AM

That's recipe for a bad trip man. You should have just left it as just shrooms. No beer no bud just shrooms.

I just killed a roach as if were a lion. God**** I hate those things man~! :chug:

Thanks for the Buena Vista BTW.

Badmoon 08-21-2005 02:22 AM
That's recipe for a bad trip man. You should have just left it as just shrooms. No beer no bud just shrooms.
No, I mean that is the combination that made me feel like I was on shrooms. The first time I did shrooms I only did those. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for the Buena Vista BTW.
I'll try to upload the album tommorow. It's a fine piece of work, the film is pretty good too.

Illmatic 08-21-2005 02:25 AM

I can't believe someone on shrooms would waste his trip by posting on the internet.

Leper 08-21-2005 02:29 AM

Holy hell. I just saw 40 year old virgin. I haven't laughed that hard in a while. It's almost funnier than Anchorman. Plus everyone in this thread will love the ending when you see it. ;)

clown_phobia 08-21-2005 02:44 AM

has anyone seen wedding crashers?

Hey! I'm not a n00b!

(I idolize zeppelin a lot more than AC/DC)

Glitterati 08-21-2005 10:58 AM
how about i know more about ac/dc then you've ever thought of so dont tel me im a noob
...that's something to be proud of?

Anyway, Schyma, I agree that a good song lyric-wise is way better than a crappy song with a wicked guitar solo.

I might see that or Wedding Crashers today.

I was getting onto a bus the other day, and there was an ad for 40-Year-Old-Virgin on the side. There was this hilarious picture of Steve Carrell on the side looking absolutely clueless
So I saw The Allman Brothers Band live at the Tweeter Center tonight. The jam band moe. opened, and they SUCK. Their set lasted about an hour and I literally think they played three or four songs. It was brutal.
Wow. Must be exciting. My sister's leaving next week to go to Ottawa for university, so I kinda know what it's like.

I got paid today for what little work I did at my summer job. $65. Added with what's in my bank account, and some money scrounged from around my room, I'm loaded right now. Next week, I've decided to blow a bunch of it on CDs

PinkFreud 08-21-2005 11:55 AM

haha, i spent a lot on cds this past year. stupid discount.

magicbus 08-21-2005 12:03 PM

:upset:

I wish I was leaving next week. If I come up to Western to hang out with some guys I'll let you know. You're not bringing your drums are you?

PinkFreud 08-21-2005 12:08 PM

cool. do it. im not bringing the drums up right now. i might try to find a music room i can store them in or something later on but not right now. i'll have my guitar though. ha.

magicbus 08-21-2005 12:11 PM

That's cool, guitar jams are still real fun :thumb:
