Ray, write something bluesy. Somehow include a gong solo, a bagpipe, and a guest appearance by John Coltrane.

Haha, I was thinking of something blues-y or folks-y, but I can't write lyrics for shit. |

Ah. Well, I guess you could get the music down for now and write the lyrics later. Man, SRV - "Lenny" is such a cool song. |
Just wondering. I know a couple people who go there. A senior named Cassidy Stark and a junior (Scotsman) who just started there this year Colin Strang.
Ahaha, huge school, I don't know em. I'm only a sophomore too. |

I have no idea what type of tune the songs I write would take, mostly because my improvisation on guitar is terrible, so I don't even bother. |

I'm a John Coltrane , can I help? |
Do any songwriters in here actually have a tune in mind for a song they're writing, while writing it?
|
Do any songwriters in here actually have a tune in mind for a song they're writing, while writing it?
Yes, I have every piece I write fully orchestrated in my head when I start, and then I try to match it as close as I can. |

I usually have some riffs in my head, its in transferring them onto the guitar that the song comes together and takes its form. The band I am in is my natural guitar playing style, so writing for it is easier than if I was in like a punk or Soft rock band. |

What do you mean? Do mean a melody? Or do you mean tuning? |

That's amazing..I have enough trouble transfering what's in my head onto paper. |

Watch the double post :-\ But yeah, I usually have a melody in my head...when I try to write lyrics I need a melody that I came up with. Even then I phail miserably :-\ EDIT: I don't think I can accurately describe how infuriating "Underclassman" is. |

Same here  |

The movie or the students? |

The movie. It's bad enough that the music looks legitmately terrible, but personally I'm even offended by it. The last thing we (speaking as a black man) need is Nick ****ing Cannon shucking and jiving through a terrible, ugly, demeaning, stereotypical "Oh snap! I'm black!" role |
Well you shouldn't take him seriously as an actor in the first place.
|
Does that really make a difference?
|
I guess all the white girls like it
night |
I write music a little different than most. I usually write some very detailed lyrics. Next I sit down behind my kit and try to put the emotions that the song is dealing with in music. It is complicated to explain. You would be amazed tho once you start thinking and creating in this mindset how much great material you create.
|
I just sit behind my keyboard and depending on my mood, I just play stuff.
if I like it, I keep it |

We'll be listening to music (HIS music) on the way there too. But no smoking. :( |

The last thing we (speaking as a black man) need is Nick ****ing Cannon shucking and jiving through a terrible, ugly, demeaning, stereotypical "Oh snap! I'm black!" role
Seeing as there are too many stupid people (black, white, or whatever) who will buy into it? I remember hearing somewhere that a study was taken to show the effects of the recording industry's media on the younger generations, and the results showed that a large portion of people who listen to corporate packaged rappers (i.e. Snoop Dogg et al) either try to become criminals or lie about having committed crimes in the past. They also have taken up a mindset of misogyny, refusing to affiliate with any woman who isn't braindead. In counterpoint, there is a growing number of women in lower class neighborhoods who are trying to work their way up the economic ladder to eke out a better life and are treated with disdain by the above-mentioned dipshiits. Now, on the one hand it's a shame that MTV has succeeded in taking a legitimate musical form and turned it into a watered-down sack of crap that results in a "counterculture" that effectively does absolutely nothing. But... on the other it's probably better that these idiots stay the hell away from intelligent, ambitious women because if they really are going to let a dumbass of a rapper tell them how to live their lives, they clearly aren't the best genestock anyway. |
Soulseek is confusing me. I want to download, but it won't start :(
|
Soulseek hasn't worked for me for a long time, on any computer or connection.
