The Gordons - Future Shock EP
I got an album by this band (the NZ band right?) on a post-punk blog some time ago, and it's fantastic! It's just called 1st Album, which at first I thought was just incorrectly tagged - but apparently that's the actual name. Some INCREDIBLE guitar work, in a noisy, dissonant kinda way. They led to me getting into Bailter Space and The Dead C as well. I need to listen to more Flying Nun bands, because those three are all really great and made some pretty radical music.

Alcest - Souvenirs D'un Autre Monde
Unwound - s/t
Native Nod - Today Puberty, Tomorrow The World

Alcest are beautiful, I'm digging this pretty heavily just now. I feel it might get old if I keep listening to it as much but whatever. Unwound and Native Nod are good as always.

ATM 10-18-2007 06:28 AM

Yea, that Alcest album is really good.

Bukowski 10-18-2007 06:32 AM

apparently their earlier stuff was black metal? I have no idea whether I'd like that genre because I've never tried getting into it.

have you heard Amesoeurs? They're pretty similar, I think I like them ever more than Alcest. Theyve only got one EP out so far, but it's awesome.

Neoteric 10-18-2007 08:03 AM

Black metal is good.

Anyway:
Squarepusher - Feed Me Weird Things

Anxious 10-18-2007 09:01 AM

Native Nod have 9 really great songs. Just like Indian Summer...I see a pattern.

AlienEater 10-18-2007 09:24 AM

Awesome Colors
Fatso Jetson
QOTSA - s/t

Awesome Colors are a pretty cool band. I'm really digging Fatso Jetson right now. It happens fairly frequently. They are just so awesome.

Yea, their earlier stuff is black metal. The only other album I've heard from them is their EP Le Secret.

I'd say black metal is the least accessible of all of the metal sub-genres but you might like it if you give it a shot.

Amesoeurs are pretty great, too. I wonder if there will be a full length release soon.

Eliminator 10-18-2007 01:19 PM

alcest is too sugary

Leonard Cohen-Best of

Anxious 10-18-2007 01:51 PM

Bukowski you should get Two Hunters by Wolves in the Throne Room. Its the black metal album that everyone who doesn't listen to black metal likes.

Neoteric 10-18-2007 02:09 PM

Is Two Hunters better than Diadem of 12 Stars?

Anxious 10-18-2007 02:11 PM

Yeah.

Neoteric 10-18-2007 02:13 PM

Alright cool cause I've only heard Diadem of 12 Stars.

A Dead Modernist 10-18-2007 02:42 PM

Botch - An Anthology of Dead Ends
Off Minor - Innominate

Yea, I think it's better.

Eliminator 10-18-2007 06:10 PM

they keep getting better

their second demo is really good too, even though two of the songs are on diadem.
