I know, I would definitely be excited to see them.

The only bad thing is that its in August, right? That means almost the end of summer.

Yea, so much time to wait :upset:

Well, I have the Allmans, Widespread Panic, and possibly Rusted Root earlier in the summer.

Alright so suddenly there is like a battle of the bands coming up, auditions are next week. So I threw together some friends and signed up. We only need one song, although I wouldn't mind doing a couple, and then playing the best one at the show.

One of my friends asked to play keyboards, so now I have to choose songs with keyboards (not that it's a real drag). So far I've decided on us playing either Time or Light My Fire, I may or may not think of some more. If you guys were to play just one song at a battle of the bands...what song would you choose? (try to think of one with a keyboard...just in case I wanna use your idea)

Erotomania by Dream Theater.

Lazy by Deep Purple

Leper 04-29-2005 01:23 AM

speakin of concerts, i'm also goin to George Thurogood and the destroyers! Or as we refer to him, in Winnipeg at least, George thoroughlygood. Nothing compared to Deep Purple though.

blue3 04-29-2005 01:37 AM

I think Deep Purple is great live.. but they never played Lazy at the concert I went to

Leper 04-29-2005 01:43 AM

ahh i guess when you've got such a wide open library of songs as deep purple does, you're gonna alternate and some songs will be left off. Metallica didn't play for whom the bell tolls when i saw them in concert...i was crushed lol.

Hahaha I would be too. When they tour, do they play lots of new ****? Because, I'd want to see them if they didn't.

Did you get/like those Johnny Winter songs I posted for you?

I was just wondering because you haven't commented and I thought you might have not seen them.

Against Miik! 04-29-2005 03:02 PM

I like the Stones now, but I still don't like The Who....

I was never big with The Who, Sure, they're great musicians, but their music kinda bores me.

TheDMV 04-29-2005 03:50 PM

I'm the opposite. I have always been more of a Who fan, never really got into the Stones. I think They announced there farewell tour though and I REAAALLY want ot go.
I was never big with The Who, Sure, they're great musicians, but their music kinda bores me.
Same thing happens to me. Never liked the Who, I tried, but I just couldn't.

Pete Townshend couldn't really get a hold on me with his guitar playing. Sure, he has some great songs, and some great classic (My Generation), but at the same time... I find them boring.

Woodstock 04-29-2005 03:58 PM

He's more of a guitar God through his compositions compared to his actual guitar playing. Which is ok with me.

Illmatic 04-29-2005 04:00 PM

Have you noticed that most Led Zeppelin fans use the same tired reason for their assertions that Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest bands ever:

"Jimmy Page is the best guitarist ever, John Bonham is the best drummer ever, Robert Plant is the best vocalist ever, and John Paul Jones was a great bassist"

Woodstock 04-29-2005 04:02 PM

Yep, it's #1 on the n00b arguement list.

TheDMV 04-29-2005 04:06 PM

Led Zeppelin does get a lot of credit that they perhaps don't deserve due to Stairway, but I can respect their riffs. They have apparently stolen so much music, it's hard to give them credibility anymore.

thickasabrick 04-29-2005 05:00 PM

Well I'm not trying to start an argument...but each of the members Led Zeppelin were great at their respective instruments. Not the best, but you can't say any of them aren't great. I don't think they were the "best" band ever, but they are definitely a good band (in my opinion).

I just got Wheels on Fire on vinyl for 10 bucks.

I envy you. How is it? I was thinking about getting Disraeli Gears instead.

I agree 100%.

I never said they weren't, just that for most people it is their only argument for Led Zeppelin being great.

You need both.
