my school is more of a G-unit type of school. Metallica are forbidden.
You must get pretty lonely at times... My school is pretty half and half I think. Except for the ppl who think their hard core cuz they listen to heavy music... |
Metallica is my favorite band, but I'm wearing a G-unit hoodie right now...
You must get pretty lonely at times...
My school is pretty half and half I think. Except for the ppl who think their hard core cuz they listen to heavy music...
Most of the ppl that I hung out with were all into techno and it would bother the crap out of me. They always looked at me weird, especially when I would crank up some 'Tallica or slayer. |

My local radio show has been doing this since 1998, does anybody else have this on thier radio station;Ohio station.
(copied from radio website below) Every weeknight at Midnight, it's Mandatory Metallica. Matt King rocks a block of the Mighty Met! From Kill 'Em All to Some Kind of Monster, this is where you either relive or discover why they are...WHO THEY ARE! We can rock your block, just pick your favorite 3-4 Metallica songs and e-mail them to |

hey, anyone got any tips on playing the first lead part on FWTBT? not the bass intro, but the one that comes later and is repeated like 20 times?
here's how i play it e-------------------------------------- B-------------------------------------- G--12-9-11---9-11------------------------- D----------12---------------- A------------------------------------- E------------------------------------ but i can't get it to sound right. |

Edit- So on the slayer forums someone said that Metallica was going to be on one of the new episodes of the Simpsons coming up like in May. Can anyone confirm this? |
Yeah it was on one of the news updates on their web site a while back.

I thought the same thing at first then when I got it going better it sounded right We have mandatory Metal too. But it's with local DJ's and they play all types of Metal |
In addition to Mandatory Metallica they also have a block of 80's metal called The Hair Club for Men!!The best of the hair metal bands.
|

Play it slow, and as you get the hang of it, speed it up, and then speed it up, then eventually you'll get it. That's about the only help I can offer. |

That's how I learnt it. |

I'll be happy if my local radio stations played metallica like once an hour. They usually only play nu-metal, alternative, and something more mainstream. :upset: Although I always have CDs so who cares? |

Although I always have CDs so who cares?
You are lucky you even get that. The only station worth even tuning into is one that plays "Todays hits and yesterday favorites" which obviously are the top songs of today, and the top songs of years before. Every song that seems to play though is Greenday...and some lame pop songs. Like you said, you have the cd's so who cares? I have them all also, so it doesn't bother me at all. I rarely listen to the radio. |
I agree with everyone above, radio is complete and utter shit. I actually don't listen to it at all, unless it's on the school bus.
On another note (this is one I stole from the Iron Maiden Thread), what do you think is the worst Metallica song? |

Really? I didn't think it was that bad... Especially after seeing the Some Kind Of Monster Movie.
I'm tending to think about some of the worst as being the tracks towards the end of Load. I'm also not a fan of The Thing That Should Not Be. I just can't get into it for some reason... |

Odd, the Black Album is one of their best
I agree with everyone above, radio is complete and utter ****. I actually don't listen to it at all, unless it's on the school bus.
Agreed. But I'm getting an iPod for christmas so it'll be ok! 2000 of my own songs > the radio If at all possible if anyone has or can find out a way to get a recording of last night's :upset: or sunday night's :upset: show I would love to hear Orion. |
Yeah!
Metallica is the greatest metal band of all time. They have produced some of the greatest metal songs and metal albums ever.
Their best songs are (off the top of my rather large head): One, Blackened (...And Justice For All) Enter Sandman, Sad But True, Nothing Else Matters, Holier Than Thou (Black) Master of Puppets (Master of Puppets) The Memory Remains, For Whom The Bell Tolls (I can't remember) Kirk Hammett is the best metal guitarist of all time, and also one of the greatest guitarists of all time. James Hetfield ain't half bad either. I agree with what everyone is saying about St.Anger. It is complete rubbish. Their best work was definitely the Black album. It's just a shame they don't play Fender Strats.....lol |

I want to see what they do with the solo near the end with the harmonies and bass and everything :) Infact, that whole show sounds like its pretty cool :/ :smash: |
Best metal guitarist of all time?
Yeah, ok.
albeit he doubtlessly was not the best metal guitarist of all time, he is my absolute favorite, imo best metal guitarist of all time, just because i like his stuff. yeah when the greats play a solo i can tell its better than kirk, but he just utterly transfixes me. his solos inspire me and awe me more than anyone else's. i can really put my whole soul into them and just feel the music almost. and to what the kiddo said up there, they have really really awesome music both on the black album and after it. yes, it was different, however, metallica covers a wide range and if you don't like some of it it doesn't mean it's not good. i think some of their best songs were written black and post black, such as turn the page, fuel, outlaw torn, my friend of misery, of wolf and man, memory remains, sad but true, don't tread on me, god i could go on forever :thumb: |

Except for turn the page that they didn't write, all the others are greats. Except for outlaw torn, to which I'm indifferent. |
