yeah the level layouts are different and sonic has an extra level (two depending on whether you have super/hyper sonic) and they fight different bosses in some cases. sonic is faster and can jump higher. knuckles can glide, break through walls and climb walls so he can get places sonic can't

idk ive always loved it, maybe its partially nostalgia for me but the game never gets old

see if you can get one of sonic 3 & knuckles. sonic and knuckles has this lock on technology so you can hook sonic 3 to it and play from the beginning of sonic 3 to the end of s&k. it has two sets of chaos emeralds (first one makes you super, second hyper) and you can play as tails and knuckles in all the levels if you want. sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles were intended to be one game that got cut in half to meet a release date.
