Sigur Rós and Explosions in the Sky have similarities obviously. where does Slint and Moss Icon come in the picture? either way the former ones are somewhat ambient math rock bands and the latter are emo bands. let's leave it at that. it's soooo much easier and non-stupid.

Slint and Moss Icon like started the genre which is based off of uh everything from the 80s. I think even Wikipedia states that Slint invented post-rock or whatever.

post-rock to most people is math rock. usually ambient and/or instrumental math rock. but the definition of post-rock is "rock instrumentation used for non-rock". which is ironic since the tag usually is thrown at math *rock* bands lol.

Okay. sorry to respond to something a page ago. But "post-" is a classification that is all encompassing. it is just what comes after. It doesn't mean that whatever is prior to the "post-" has to come to an end, but it's just something that has progressed past whatever comes after that "-".

Post-rock, maybe not so much. But post-punk, post-hardcore, and post-modernism for sure.
