cbmartinez 01-17-2006 02:23 PM

You already knew that people tried to get img tags before. It never worked. You should have just let us enjoy it instead of whining.

Don't come in and be a douche to the regulars. You should've not been lazy and just listened, it would've taken less effort than it did to type that post.

Different Dom.

Proper Uses of Rock, Paper, Scissors:
Keep the fun out of our community!

Rock, Paper, Scissors is a game that has been played for ages and continues to be a force to be reckoned with. It’s easily the top game in decision-making; nothing else can really compete. Some would care to argue (cough coin flippers society cough), but the truth is that rock paper scissors is so mainstream that it is almost played unknowingly. This is where people stray from the purpose of RPS.

According to the World RPS Society:

“According to English laws dating back as far as 1842, RPS matches may only be played to make a decision on something. However, often-frivolous excuses are made up in order to play. Due to the ensuing public outrage, the law was later amended to include RPS games for "honor”.”

More and more common these days, I have noticed that RPS is losing ground, not in popularity, but in purpose. Do people still remember the true purpose of RPS? When there’s only one slice of pizza left I can only hope people aren’t grabbing for their wallets for that lone penny, or even worse, thinking of a number between 1 and 100. Rock, paper, scissors isn’t just a fun game, it’s a tool; reserved for decision making. When you and your friend can’t agree on what two-liter bottle of coke to buy just give the good old RPS a round or two.

What is disappointing is when I see the young kids playing rock paper scissors for what appears to be… fun?? They sit there at their tables playing off rounds of RPS like it’s some sort of card game. Round after round after round, and all for no purpose. This is a problem; a problem that must be ended. These uneducated players are abusing the game, the same way a junkie abuses painkillers. Rock, paper, scissors is not meant to be played for fun, it is meant to serve as a device. It is meant to win decisions, as intended by all previous civilizations. Somehow when it got to our day and age, it declined. It may be that these days decision-making is over rated, who knows, but still that provides no right to abuse the rules of RPS.

Rock, Paper, Scissors is a great decision making tool. It’s easy and commonly known. It’s fair and gives equal opportunities to both players. Playing for fun belittles the entire community. It’s degrading to those who have trained for years. It’s degrading to those who understand the basic fundamentals. The truth is, there is no purpose of playing for fun, it is just a disgrace, a stain in the underpants of the RPS community. The way I have dealt with this now, is that I inform all people I see casually playing, that they are not welcomed, and that if they don’t have anything to decide on, at least put some honor on the line. RPS matches played for honor are completely respectable. Some of the greatest competitors out there still have a good match or two for honor. If you can’t play RPS without a decision or for honor, do us all a favor, and don’t play at all.

[QUOTE=shane italian]Nah, it was only 50 today. They keep saying it's gonna get colder but I don't even care anymore.[/QUOTE]

Yeah dude, that's freezing. I hate the cold.

And I cannot believe that no one posted those GTFO pics. Ohhh, waiitttt

and yes, to whoever ask, Final Fight are amazing. If I wasn't too lazy to do my top five thing, they would be in like every category. Some of you guys say they are talked about too much on here, I say they are talked about too little.

shane italian 01-17-2006 09:35 PM

50 isn't too bad for winter up here. I'm sure you've seen stuff on the news in past years about ice storms up here.

Yeah, I have. I could never live in Dallas, seriously, Houston isn't far south enough for me, I can't stand the cold. I was made for warm climates, but Houston weather is just crazy.
