to you guys who record BM: how do I get a good production style/guitar tone using a program like audacity? Like, what EQ settings should I use? should I do direct recording or mic the amp? etc

Gonna be doing some hipster black metal with my fwiend.

I used to mic my amp, but now I plug my amp into my audio interface and send that to my computer. If you're gonna do this, you'll probably have to turn your treble down a bit and the mids up, but that depends on the amp, really. I wouldn't suggest altering the sound of the recorded guitar tracks until maybe at the last stage of mixing.

I'm too lazy to even re-record takes that I mess up on, I have no idea how I'm going to muster up the patience to figure this stuff out :|

Word, we're trying to finish everything with programmed drums before we get this one kid to drum, but his drumming is pretty Satan. I just probably need to buy him a bottle or some weed to get him to do it.
