Its an amazing song. Come Together is about the Beatles each verse describes each of them.
I don't think so. Timothy Leary, an LSD pioneer back in the day, was running for president or some other political office and he asked John Lennon to write him a campaign song around the slogan "Come Together" John couldn't think of anything so he just wrote this nonsense song around the slogan. I'm pretty sure that's what the Beatles Anthology said about it. I've also heard that the lyrics are just a sexual joke by John. |

I'd vote for him at least but I think Nixon threw him out or something because he took him as a threat.

Most of you probably already know this, but apparently Coca Cola filed a law-suit against the Beatles way back in the day for mentioning their product name in "Come Together." I couldn't believe how stupid they'd be the first time I heard that. You're getting free advertising from the biggest rock band in the world, and you don't want the song to be allowed on the radio?? Makes no sense whatsoever.

The Beatles were rock music, which was looked down upon by many and Coca-Cola probably wanted to promote a wholesome family type appearance. |

As Damien Rhodes says, Coca-Cola was trying to maintain a kind of "wholesome" image, and by the time Abbey Road came out, the Beatles were anything but wholesome. Speaking of Abbey Road, I think "Something" is my favorite Beatles song. |
Ya I guess that's true. Coca Cola's still pretty much that way as far as marketing goes. Completely unlike Pepsi (Britney Spears, Dave Chappelle, Beyonce marketing)
|
Sorry off topic, but That is just an "image" they want. Coca-Cola exploits workers in South America. Very "Wholesome"

No one here ever said that Coca-Cola was a wholesome and honest company, nor did we want to hear your Rage Against the Machine-inspired rant. |

1. I know. 2. I dont like Rage Against The Machine 3.Rage Against The Machine is about Government I am talking about a Corporation. 4. It wasnt really a rant :) |
It was slightly out of place though.
|
Ok then just forget about it. :)
Back to more Beatles chatter. :thumb: |
I like RATM.. Anyways, I learned Come Together and a bunch of other Beatles songs on guitar a few days ago.
|
Come Together is one of those songs thats just cool. It's not a bad song in particular, but it doesn't really invoke any feeling, it just has a cool feel to it.
I haven't really given AR a good listen so my opinion on it isn't the best I suppose.. All I need is..Sgt Peppers, MMT, Revolver, and Rubber Soul.. =) |

If you don't own, I can upload later, but I'm assuming you have them, because those are the best ones. I agree about Come Together. It's not an amazing song, but it's fun to listen to. |
What's your favourite song on Abbey Road Seafroggys?
Probably Here Comes the Sun. But other kick *** songs include Oh Darling, I want you, Polythene Pam, and Then End. Other absolutly fantastic songs inlcude Come Together, Something, Octopus's Garden, Mean Mr. Mustard, She Came in through the bathroom window, Carry that weight.... okay I"m gonna list the entire album, I gotta stop. |
I'm really not fond of Sgt. Pepper's :-\
I can respect it, but I just plain don't like it at all. I listen to Revolver, Rubber Soul, Abbey Road, Magical Mystery Tour, parts of The White Album, and I have to wonder why Sgt. Pepper's was such a huge miss (and, along those lines, how it got so big). |
It was slightly out of place though.
/uneccessary flaming I love the lyrics in Come Together. Of course you could probably tell /Should change name to Mojo Filter /Wanted to change it to China Cat Sunflower but the name was taken by my friend who only made four posts |
Ohhh, Mojo Filter is a good name.
|
Mojo Filter is a very cool name. I was thinking for a bit of changing my name, but I don't know what I would change it to.
Does anyone else think Her Majesty is a really cool song? I mean, it's short and simple, but I really like it. I think it's the perfect ending. |
My favorite song from AR is She Came In Through the Bathroom Window, such a great song I wish it was longer. But everything after Because seems to sound like a long song they flow really well.
|
Mine is Octupus's Garden or Here Comes the Sun. I think I might have already said that like a page ago though.
|
Ya I we talked about that not long ago but I was to busy being a Negative Nancy.
|
Never heard of Smokin' Mojo Filters. I've been listening to the Beatles a lot lately.

Here Comes the Sun is one of my favourite songs of all time, although it's probably not my favourite Beatles song. I love playing it on guitar except I lost my capo so it's not the same anymore.
|
I'm usually to lazy to grab a capo when I play Here Comes the Sun, so I use barre chords instead of open chords so I can stay in key.

Ouch. No capo, no HCTS unless you're really awesome at barres. |
Ouch. No capo, no HCTS unless you're really awesome at barres.
I don't have a capo. But I love barre chords.
|
I can play HCTS without a capo, but it doesn't flow as well.
DeusExMachina is definatly one of the better names on this forum
Thanks. Glad you like it. |
There was a Beatles block today on the radio, they played Day in the Life, Sgt. Pepper's, With a Little Help From my Friends, and Good Day Sunshine, and I jammed to all of those on my set. Man I seriously rock the house to Sgt. Pepper's :D

Your set? Did you play a show recently or something? That would be very cool. |
I know this sounds liek such a n00b question to ask, but how does Harrison get those effects on his guitar in Revolution?

If your talking about the intro guitar Im pretty sure that is John Lennon and he got the really distorted effect by plugging his guitar right into the soundboard. |
Oh ok, thanks. I didn't know whether or not that was Lennon or Harrison.
