:D Your welcome.
Did you watch the video that was posted a few pages back? They open with Godhead.
I know of one video that was about an hour long show. Is that the one you are talking about or is there another? If so, link me please. I hate searching through the pages in these long threads :(

Special Brew 08-22-2005 01:31 PM
You're gonna have to import this one. They released it on a British label (Peaceville) and it hasn't been released stateside. I heard they were planning a state release on a new label, but until then, get to ordering...

I actually imported a copy of Still Life for $14. $11 + $3 for overseas shipping, I got quite the deal

Edit: Maybe there is a US release I don't know about, but what I do know is it's the only album of theirs that I haven't seen in stores.
Well fuck. I hate importing albums but I will do it if I have to.

Also, anyone notice that the title of this thread has changed? It is no longer the ***OFFICIAL*** thread, what is up with that?

Darkness 08-22-2005 01:34 PM

All the official threads got changed... see if you can pick out the Tool one.

So, whats everyones favourite riff off Ghost Reveries? Mine, at the moment, is the one about 2 minutes into Baying Of The Hounds. The one played just before and under the 'everything you believed is lie' part.

Deth 08-23-2005 06:21 AM

Here's the video for the person too lazy to find it.

I am in love with the intro to 'Beneath the Mire'. It is mostly keyboards though. I love the intro to 'The Ghost of Perdition' as well. I can't even begin to decide my favorite riff right now.

Yeah, that is the one I was thinking about. I wish we could get some more good live footage somewhere.

"Ghost Of Perdition" has a sweet intro and main riff.

We have all asked and tried but so far, I don't think anyone has figured out how to do it.

Lateralus23462 08-23-2005 12:48 PM

If someone could make it a hyperlink, then we could just do the right-click/save as thing.

I tried that awhile back. Doesn't work, as Darkness just found out.

There is absolutely no way that anyone's favorite riff can be anything but the main one on 'The Grand Conjuration.' That thing practically displaced Gravity Eyelids as my favorite metal riff ever.

Special Brew 08-23-2005 09:54 PM

I wouldn't consider anything by Porcupine Tree as metal though :p

Jude 08-23-2005 10:20 PM
I wouldn't consider anything by Porcupine Tree as metal though :p
Someone has not heard any of the following songs:
Blackest Eyes
Gravity Eyelids
Wedding Nails
The Creator Has a Master Tape
Strip The Soul
Shallow
Arriving Somewhere But Not Here
Open Car
Futile
Orchidia

Special Brew 08-24-2005 12:04 AM

I have heard most of those songs, and I still wouldn't call them metal. They have some metal/rockish riffs but I haven't heard one song that I would consider fully metal.

Det_Nosnip 08-24-2005 12:12 AM

*shrug* More prog rock with metal influences...or you could just call it music.

Alot of the riffs at the end of Grand Conjuration are really ****ing cool.

NP Aghora - Immortal Bliss. Malone+Reinert =

Indeed.

Yes this post is worthless but I'm outside in San Francisco at 1 in the morning and its really cold, so cut me some slack.

The Flabbit Rides High 08-24-2005 02:49 AM

/slack

I just heard after a long waiting period the infamous Black Rose Immortal.

meh..kinda dissapointed. I say anything before MAYH was kinda below par. But I guess it was a different genre back then. Anyway.

The new album rocks btw, At the mo I REALLY dig TBOTH and Harlequin Forest. Awesome riffs. I guess I like it so much because alot of the riffs on the new album remind of MAYH...<< my fav Opeth album ever.

horseypie 08-24-2005 03:54 AM

i just got blackwater park and still life and i reckon BP pwns completely over still life....i just reckon his voice is heaps better and...just better

Dannyboy15 08-24-2005 04:04 AM

I like Still Life better. It has Benighted and Godheads Lament. That's why. All the other songs are great though.

horseypie 08-24-2005 04:09 AM

benighted is an awesome song, but i reckon BP is mad.....bleak is teh best song ive heard..i loves it sooo much

PeEpHoLe_10 08-24-2005 05:14 AM

Congrats. Good to see even more fans of this amazing band.

Slapping Penguin 08-24-2005 06:42 AM

Godheads Lament is godly.

Blasphamy! It's my favorite song of all time!

penelope_weird_hands 08-24-2005 07:48 AM

'lo folks.. recently converted opeth fan and even more recent (as in now..1st post!) musicianforum'er.

my ears never really agreed with any form of metal until i heard opeth. the growls took a while to get used to but i love them now.. and the musicianship.. well.. it goes without saying.

i have yet to buy any albums but i have downloaded still life, blackwater park, da*mnation and (couldnt help it) ghost reveries. fkking brilliant. i'm well on my way to becoming obsessed ;p

fav tracks thus far, though they change daily (2 off each album i have heard)
moonlapse vertigo
the moor
the leper affinity
BWP
ghost of perdition
beneath the mire
closure
windowpane

anyway..! sorry for the n00b post..
opeth owns
opeth fans own
that is all.

_HiGhVoLtAgE_ 08-24-2005 11:33 AM

can someone recommend me some opeth
i know of a couple songs and they are ****in awesome
blackwater park
bleak
a fair judgement

i would of posted in the music recommendations thread but i cant find it

Wedding Nails and Orchidia and CHAM and Strip the Soul are fully metal. Shallow too. The rest may not be all metal, but the riffs are still metaller than most other metal I've heard.

I really don't think they are, they sound more hard rock to me.

I'm seeing Opeth on the 7th September in Manchester, can't wait

from what i've heard:

off Blackwater Park
The Leper Affinity
The Drapery Falls
The Funeral Portrait
Dirge For November

off Still Life (all of them own..but)
The Moor
Godheads Lament
Moonlapse Vertigo
Face of Melinda

off Damnation (much more mellow than previous albums)
Windowpane
Closure
Hope Leaves
Death Whispered a Lullaby

off Ghost Reveries (coming out on the 30th)
Ghost of Perdition
Beneath the Mire
Atonement
Reverie/Harlequin Forest

and for anything off of Orchid, Morningrise, My Arms Your Hearse, or Deliverance you'll have to ask the veterans i haven't heard all that much of either of those,..
