Against Me! has one girl song on all of their albums.

lynch_me 10-06-2007 04:56 PM
he says they kinda knew it would happen but didn't really care. the music is still good, just in a different context. there is only like what, one girl song on new wave? he's still challenging the process and things, its still rebellious just not on the same scale as it was before. Anyone who cares to listen can pretty much get the whole story from their music, 'unprotected sex with multiple partners' basically says why they switched to a major label and to me kind of hints at an intent to revert back to their old selves when its all over, this is just so that they can indeed go on making music. I dont know if you anyone here has ever been in a touring band but i can only imagine how tough it is to make **** meet, especially playing in 'churches and laundromats'. i feel its kinda justified as long as it stays credible, intelligent and continues to question things.
I wouldn't care if they hadn't stressed the DIY thing so far. However, I do think it's a shame, and just because of it some people are over looking a pretty decent album too. Whatever, tom has lied in interviews before.

Go on?

lynch_me 10-06-2007 07:59 PM

1) Said that they got free food at KFC because Colonel Sanders had a relative die of starvation, so they were obligated to give out free food.

2) Said that they got trapped on an elevator while on tour in Canada when that really happened to Adam from Bombs over providence. There's an interview with Adam, i'll look for it.

What a silly thing to fib about..

Flagjacket 10-06-2007 08:09 PM

"Hey guys I'm Tom Gabel as you can see I live a hard life, which includes getting free food and standing in an elevator."

lynch_me 10-06-2007 08:12 PM

Those are some pretty offensive lies. Whats next? He drank a margarita out of paris hilton's ear when it was really Witney houstan's ear?

Flagjacket 10-06-2007 08:56 PM

It's spelled Houston you could find it on any world map if you weren't against art you Philistine.

lynch_me 10-06-2007 09:04 PM

Ha, yeah. Sorry, I don't buy Elle magazine to read about her and Booby Brown to know how to spell her name. Where do you go to subscribe again?

Flagjacket 10-06-2007 10:34 PM

The only magazine Whitney Houston would be in anymore is the National Inquirer.

No way does someone really own all those...

And to Kevin: that was a funny post. I'll give you that much credit.

Twin Human Highway Flares 10-08-2007 09:54 PM

A couple dudes on VLV have an insane amount of AM! records.

Henrik 10-09-2007 12:46 PM

I saw Against Me! last night. It was actually really really good. Only thing I didn't really enjoy was when they played "The Ocean". That song is not really good and it is very boring during a great fast live show to listen to such a song.

We Laugh At Danger (And Break All The Rules) at the end was amazing. Plus they played TSR which is one of my favorites.

I got to talk to both Andrew and Warren after the show, and they seemed pretty nice.

tom79 10-09-2007 12:48 PM

They play Ocean a lot as a closer before the encore, and sometimes they drag it out a bit but I think it's one of the better songs on New Wave.

Henrik 10-10-2007 08:04 AM

I think it might be the worst IMO.

tom79 10-10-2007 10:55 AM

Nah. Animal, Borne on the FM Waves, and Stop! are all worse in my opinion.

Anarcho Poser 10-10-2007 04:48 PM

I like Borne on the FM Waves. maybe that's just because I related closely with it when it came out. Animal and Ocean are pretty terrible though

obese_breasts 10-10-2007 06:08 PM

Animal is the hands down worst song on that cd.

I like Ocean

asdf 10-10-2007 06:09 PM

I had no interest in seeing Against Me! again, but I just found out that World/Inferno will be with them when they come to my hometown, so I'm going.

And I mean what the hell, I've always had fun a against me shows, so why not?

obese_breasts 10-10-2007 06:54 PM

I saw them a month ago and it was really fun, you'll probably enjoy yourself

Brewing Up With 10-11-2007 09:56 AM

I'm seeing them this Monday in Vienna. Hopefully they play old stuff...

Henrik 10-11-2007 10:53 AM

Don't get your hopes too high. They didn't when I saw them last monday.
As far as I can recall they played Pint Og Guinness, Walking Is Still Honest and We Laugh At Danger as the only RAR songs.
Then they played TSR, Sink Florida Sink and I'm pretty postive that they played Rice And Bread And Cliche Guevarra too.

The rest was New Wave and Clarity stuff, but it was still a good concert. Up The Cuts was good live.

tom79 10-11-2007 11:04 AM

Really, New Wave songs sound pretty good live, except Borne of the FM Waves kinda kills the mood for a bit. Obviously there will be lots of NW, it's the NW tour. I've seen 6 RAR songs live before.

Cliche 10-11-2007 12:03 PM

I do have to say that the New Wave songs are a lot better live. But I disagree with you saying Borne kills the mood, if anything, The Ocean kills it.

Henrik 10-12-2007 09:08 AM

Borne On The FM Waves Of The Heart is a way better song than both Animal and The Ocean.

Brewing Up With 10-12-2007 03:25 PM

Ocean>FM waves>animal

animal is worse than most popular music

i like that under my umbrella song bettere than animal dude

PS: That song hasn't been hot for like three months now
