Looks like I'm going to Paid Dues festival:

FELT (MURS [Living Legends] w/ Slug & Ant [Atmosphere]), LIVING LEGENDS, SAGE FRANCIS, BROTHER ALI, CAGE, MR. LIF, GROUCH & ELIGH, HANGAR 18, BLUEPRINT and LUCKY I AM,

Kyle 07-06-2007 12:54 PM

Oh that'll be great, Mr. Lif is ace.

I've been digging Mr. Hood by KMD recently, any fans? Wierd to see how different this early Doom production is.

ATM 07-06-2007 08:03 PM

KMD rules, really anything Doom is involved with rules.

Love that album, its real awesome. I've heard so little bad stuff with Doom that I've come to assume everything he does is brilliant.
Black Star rules all.
I second this.

gillygan 07-08-2007 08:43 PM

I just got Violent by Design by Jedi Mind tricks. Trinity, and the Deer Hunter are such tight songs.

so i need some help here. Has anyone seen the movie green street hooligans? I really wanna know the name of the song at 1:04:50, or at least who its by. Also, does anyone know of any good british hip hop besides foreign beggars?

**** is dope.
Pretty much everything by The Coup is dope

Pick A Bigger Weapon is my favorite, but all their ****'s tight

Apocalyptic Raids 07-09-2007 06:10 AM

JMT are okay. I was really into them for like a month but it didn't last. VBD is easily their best though.

Picked up J Dilla - Donuts today. It rules.

ATM 07-09-2007 07:28 AM

Donuts is pretty good.

Lately I've really been digging Aquemini.

sgrevs 07-09-2007 09:41 AM

Check out the avatar fellas.

But yeah seriously, Aquemini is way good and I listened to most of it today funnily enough. Rosa Parks...just...wow. One of my favourite hip-hop songs ever.

thunderzstruck 07-09-2007 02:31 PM

i saw brother ali last night at a free show

...it was amazing

gillygan 07-10-2007 12:25 AM

^ sheeit dude thats so tight. I've just been getting into him...

Tyler 07-10-2007 12:33 AM

Speaking of Dilla, Kanye claims that he's going to pay "tribute" to him on the new Common album by essentially biting his production style.

Interstate 07-10-2007 05:27 AM

Been listening to Skinnyman - Council Estate Of Mind recently. His voice is slightly annoying after a while and yet it's growing on me.

RosettaStoned 07-10-2007 06:54 AM

Oh god no his voice is way too annoying for me. I finally checked out Brother Ali, he's amazing. Does anyone know any other artists with an intellectual level similar to his?

Kyle 07-10-2007 07:27 AM

Aquemini is my favorite OutKast album, closely followed by ATliens.

Lethal Bizzle just got confirmed for some festival I'm going to, wooo.

Glitterati 07-11-2007 12:05 AM

Kyle, I remember quite a while you had "Pranging Out" by The Streets as your profile song on myspace and I really liked it, buuuut it's the only Streets song I know. Can anyone recommend me a good Streets album?

sgrevs 07-11-2007 01:31 AM

I like Original Pirate Material best, but I think most people like A Grand Don't Come For Free most. The new one is pretty average, I can't even think of the name off the top of my head. I'd say go for OPM.

Kyle 07-11-2007 04:04 AM

Yeah quite a few here will disagree, but I'd say start with Original Pirate Material and then don't hesitate to get A Grand Don't Come For Free if you like the first one. I kinda like doing things chronologically if there are only a few albums of an artist.

And yeah the latest one was kinda poor, minus a few songs like Pranging Out.

ATM 07-11-2007 06:52 AM

OPM is sweet.
Oh god no his voice is way too annoying for me. I finally checked out Brother Ali, he's amazing. Does anyone know any other artists with an intellectual level similar to his?
It starts out really annoying but it's grown on me after 3-4 plays.
Kyle, I remember quite a while you had "Pranging Out" by The Streets as your profile song on myspace and I really liked it, buuuut it's the only Streets song I know. Can anyone recommend me a good Streets album?
I'd recommend A Grand Don't Come For Free as his most accessible, but Original Pirate Material is great as well, I just prefer A Grand.. more though.

His latest one, The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living isn't that great, I've read alot of negative reviews about it so it's best to check this out after you've heard one (or both) of the above albums.

I think Forward Riddim has to be a contestant for both the best and worst lyrics ever written.

I actually don't know why I like Lethal Bizzle. I really don't. For anyone who doesn't know Forward Riddim...

Also am I the only one who finds Brother Ali's voice strangely relaxing. I think it's his accent or something.

Kyle 07-16-2007 01:13 AM

haha , Lethal B's a genius. It's funny reading his lyrics on a screen though.

You don't wanna bring no beef
Bring some beef and loose some teeth

MagicNinjaMatt 07-17-2007 10:21 AM

My fav rappers are:
Insane Clown Posse
Twiztid
The Fat Boys
Lords of The Underground
Souls of Mischeif(if you haven't check them out, they're fresh as hell)
Atmosphere
Run Dmc(duh)

Anyone share the same tastes?

Interstate 07-17-2007 02:18 PM

Don't know if it's technically classed as hip hop but I've been listening to Panic Prevention by Jamie T alot recently, it's really growing on me, the song 'Shelia' in particular.

Kyle 07-17-2007 02:45 PM

Jamie T is cool, I made a thread on him a while back but nobody really posted in it.

Back in the Game is my favorite song, but there's quite a few good ones on the album.

I guess I must have missed it. I got the album after a friend played a few of his songs in my car on a roadtrip a few days ago. The album is brilliant though. Was it released this year or last year?

My friend gave me the 'Sheila' single on vinyl because his dad bought it accidentally when he was in London. I dig the song, but the b-side called 'Meet Me On The Corner' (i think) is complete rubbish. I also know the song about money, it's pretty good.

bowl of oranges 07-18-2007 05:54 AM

I've just got into Dangerdoom - The Mouse and the Mask, any suggestions for similar stuff, where's the best place to start with MF Doom?

Also what are the best Hi-tek produced albums, i really dig the hi-tekonology albums especially volume 2, again suggestions would be great.
