Weather Report are kinda jazz-fusion/jazz-funk/whatever, and Jaco is their bassist.

Your post reminds me of the elevator music they play on the weather channel's local forcast

Don't they play Yanni on the Weather Channel?

Different local forcasts I suppose *shrug*

thickasabrick 08-16-2005 06:25 PM

I love the music that they play on the channel where they show everything that's on. You know that channel? Great music. I like to sleep to it. I wish they told what the songs/artists were because I wanna learn how to play a lot of those songs, and I'd probably buy some of the albums.

White_heat 08-16-2005 06:31 PM

I love music they play in the Cine Max pron films

Illmatic 08-16-2005 06:36 PM
I love music they play in the Cine Max pron films
I prefer the wah-wah-addled guitar of hardcore p0rn.

White_heat 08-16-2005 06:38 PM

Are you kidding? Soft core **** music has more SOUUUUUUUL

ATM 08-16-2005 06:39 PM

P0rn music is so great.

Illmatic 08-16-2005 06:39 PM
Are you kidding? Soft core **** music has more SOUUUUUUUL
It's fake, just like the action on-screen, my friend. In hardcore p0rn, the music is as raw and untamed as the action on-screen.

White_heat 08-16-2005 06:47 PM

It sounds too much like Miami Vice music to me.

I hear real songs on there sometimes, like "Something" and "The Sound Of Silence."

Yeah a couple times I've heard instrumental versions of recognizable songs.

Anyone here listen to the J. Geils band? I just heard Centerfold on the radio, that's one of the few songs of theirs I've heard but it's catchy as all hell. Not exactly the definition of classic rock, but I like them.

Johnny B. Good 08-16-2005 07:04 PM

Centerfold is a good song, very catchy, cool organ work, witty lyrics

Glitterati 08-16-2005 07:16 PM

I love that song, but probably couldn't name many more songs by them. Fun song.

Jacaranda 08-16-2005 07:21 PM

Freeze Frame isn't that by them? They sorta dissappeared quickly.

White_heat 08-16-2005 07:34 PM

Has any one here heard gong? They are a great space-rock band. Kind of like Pink Floyd and King crimson Mixed together with 10 doses of acid included.

I like space-rock, but I've never heard of Gong. King Crimson are good too.

White_heat 08-16-2005 07:41 PM

I can upload some.

Early J. Geils is teh win. They were great before they got too poppy. Who ever played harmonica for them kicked ***.

It must be a Canadian thing.

It would be funny to have a band that was exclusively for p0rn soundtracks

White_heat 08-16-2005 07:50 PM

a lot of Berklee grads do p0rn music, so don't underestimate it.

JonG 08-16-2005 09:07 PM

"Full House" is a good album.

Leper 08-17-2005 12:02 AM

Many will probably find this post offensive, but i'm starting to like the new Stones song..

Seafroggys 08-17-2005 12:30 AM

Gong are an awesome Prog Rock/Canterbury band. I went around hunting for at least one of their albums in the city a few months ago and stumbled across "Shamal". The band was formed by an Australian guitarist as well which always induce's a bit of patriotism. This albums moves away from their more psychedelic music as the two previous leaders of the band, the "pot head pixies" had left. It is a great prog rock album, the instrumentals such as "Bambooji" are interesting and "Wingful of Eyes", "Chandra" and "Shamal" are superb tracks.

There is some information on this band at:
www.strawberrybricks.com

and on http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=848#mp3

I would upload an mp3 if my internet wasn't rubbish.

Leper 08-17-2005 01:01 AM

progarchives is a great site. I was on there earlier today reading what they had to say about Supertramp. Very thorough indeed.

It is very resourceful and introduced me to some great bands that I had previously never known about. I was actually listening to Breakfast In America today whilst playing with the harmonica on "Take the Long Way Home", great track. The building suspense on the piano and the harmonica as it lets loose, very nice.

Man this sounds like a great band! Could someone pleeeease upload some songs? I like the sound of them already. I could probably go for their more (or most...heh :smoke: ) psychedelic songs/albums but I will accept anything. I'm actually going downtown tomorrow, very bad things happened tonight (my friend broke his beautiful bong that we all love) and we gotta go downtown tomorrow to buy a new one, so I'll check them out at some music stores. Are they a fairly old band? If so I would rather have their vinyl than CD.

:thumb:  :D :amaze:

edit- and yeah, Supertramp are amazing!

Leper 08-17-2005 02:00 AM

Oh ya, thickasabrick, about Famous Last Words, great album as expected. There's a couple songs on it (mostly Rick Davies lead) that are a little too pop/doowop for my taste, and there's actually some almost ballady material on it. But the first and last tracks on the album bring that nice, familiar, prog sound we've all come to know and love Supertramp for. Overall, solid album.

Oh ya, and that comment about Rick Davies was not meant as a shot against him, though IMO Roger Hodgson's voice is sooooo much better.

Meh...they aren't that great. Trippy stuff and fun to listin when you're really blown otherwise I'd stay away from them. I'm suprised anyone in this thread has ever listined to them. :thumb:

I'm not a big fan of the Canterbury scene anyway. It's put out a few quality psychedelic albums but the majority of it isn't that good.

Lunch 08-17-2005 11:00 AM

I have Gong's Magick Brother, and it's alright. Nothing too great.

Your avatar is awesome, by the way

Kevinthejedi 08-17-2005 11:59 AM

ya harmonicas are sweet. they're the one instrument that i want to play other than guitar.

Very easy to learn. Easier than guitar, in fact. I would highly recommend it
