If I want that I listen to Eminence Front, as it dominates most other late-Who material.
I love that song, and I am tempted to buy the album but everyone I talk to says it is awful. If anyone here has heard it, can they verify this, or is my belief that it is impossible for The Who to make bad music true?

Wait, just reading the thing above your avatar, is that about Neil Young, I knew he had a brain anyerism, but did he die and I just missed it?

MalcolmYoungRock 04-25-2005 07:11 PM

No fucking way did Neil die.

There would be 50,000 RIP threads.

It was a reference to his old avatar, which had Neil Young in it.
I can play Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. The hardest part is the finger picking, but keep trying and you'll get it. :thumb:
I love that fingerpicked intro. I always play it to warm up.

gijoe467 04-25-2005 07:28 PM

i havnt seen too much about styx, lynyrd skynyrd, and tom petty and the heartbreakers. The real Lynyrd Skynyrd died early but they were pretty **** good.

We've discussed them a lot (Except for maybe Styx), there's just a ton of pages to go through to find it all.

do u no where it is? I read the first 30 pages.

cheers :chug:

Jam2Me 04-25-2005 07:34 PM

Skynyrd is effin' awesome. Styx I don't care for much. Tom Petty is one of the coolest people ever and his music rocks. I'd love to talk about 2/3 of them.

Bands just get brought up randomly, it would be impossible to pinpoint an exact page to check out.

Just hang around awhile and I'm sure we will get some discussion going that interests you.

gijoe467 04-25-2005 07:38 PM

straight into darkness is a relatively unknown song but it is one of my favorites.

So I just got my test back for my music apprecation class, featuring such questions as:

Allman Brothers are what kind of band?

a) Heavy Metal
b) Industrial
c) Southern Rock
d) Funk

Probly a fuse between Techno and Death Metal.

Are you serious?

What other questions are there?

I was going to guess Pornogrind, but I really have no idea.

P.S. I wish I could take a class where the Allman Brothers would be on a test.

I'd go out and get it from my car if I wasn't so lazy.

The only thing I lost points on was a question about the Outlaws.

gijoe467 04-25-2005 07:52 PM

who are the outlaws?

lunch998 04-25-2005 07:53 PM
who are the outlaws?
Probably why he lost points on them.

Southern Rock at its best.

gijoe467 04-25-2005 08:08 PM

I didnt think any southern rock band could top skynyrd. I'll look for them the next time I'm out for cds. Any special albums I should look at?
The best thing about "Who Are You" is the drum fills.
True to that. From a drummer's perspective, I absolutly LOVE the song, but from others it might be an okay song.

I actually don't really like most of the album (I bought it because I like WHo are You....erg, should of gotten Tommy)....Who Are You is definitly pretty good, but 905 has a pretty cool synth part.

Can you play the drum fills on Sunshine Of Your Love? amazing.

They're not the best, but they are good, I'd start off with their Self title.

Probably. I ahven't heard the song enough, but I can generally play most classic rock licks. Now if you asked me if I could play Toad......then obviously no. ;)

Cool :thumb:

If I ever start a band, I would want a drummer who plays a crap load of percussion. Like Mickey Hart, Carlton Barrett or those guys from Rusted Root.

Badmoon 04-25-2005 09:07 PM

Has anyone heard the live anniversary version of "My Back Pages"; featuring Roger Mcguinn, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Neil Young and Eric Clapton?

Or Carl Palmer?

Meh, move to Oregon and call me up.
