I shoudl wear my woodstock shirt too. It is got knows how old, my hippie aunt gave it to me in 6th grade. It has 9 (3x3) dove/guitar logos with the colors fading from red to purple (and everything in between) and "Woodstock Music Festival" in yellow at the bottom. It is also threadbare, a few sizes too big and is sporting more than one hole. And I really would wear it Monday through wednesday, but I have a college interview at Middlebury on Tuesday(where I believe about 27% get accepted) and I don't think that would go over so well

I'm totally wearing it on Monday and Wednesday though
Can you actually purchase Woodstock T-shirts? I'm sure you could get them through E-bay, but Do they manufacture them?

Lunch 08-14-2005 04:56 PM

I don't think I've ever seen one for sale.

This one has alot:

I saw alot of really cool ones in Woodstock, NY (naturally) (Best Grateful Dead shirt selection I have ever seen +++ Being in a head shop with your straight edge mom--, especially when she comments on how pipes are "not what they used to be") but I don't think any of you live anywhere near there, so you best pick one up on the internet.

I got my Prom dress in Woodstock :p

Glitterati 08-14-2005 05:11 PM

I saw a guy wearing a tye-dye Pink Floyd shirt today.

magicbus 08-14-2005 05:12 PM

I like the red shirt on that last link. I think I'll get it.

Glitterati 08-14-2005 05:14 PM
I like the red shirt on that last link. I think I'll get it.
If I were to get one, I'd pick that one. I'm not a fan of the tye-dye look.

np: Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back In Town

TheDMV 08-14-2005 05:15 PM

I wish they had a red tie dye one, but alas. The red one was the best.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-14-2005 05:37 PM

I have the red one.

My Woodstock DVD is ****ed up though. :(

I believe so. I have the director's cut version, and I haven't watched it in a while.

jpj 08-14-2005 07:45 PM

I got Jethro Tull-This Was and Allman Brothers-Live at American University Washington D.C. 12/13/70 (which I was really surprised to see FYE had two copies of, I thought you could only get it off the ABB site).

I also got a black Velvet Underground & Nico shirt and a Dead shirt from Kauffman's (they usually only have AC/DC, Stones, Skynyrd, etc.) similar to what Lunch described his as.

Nice.

I saw a really cool American Beatly long-sleeved Gtrateful Dead shirt. It was really, really small though. But Very cool. Also something none of you would ever wear

ATM 08-14-2005 08:08 PM

I hate wearing tight shirts.

Yea, me too.

Also, everyone better go vote for Widespread Panic in the Modern Rock poll.

Same here, I wear tighter shirts. Not too tight though.

Glitterati 08-14-2005 09:15 PM

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's baggy clothing. Tighter feels better for me, plus, I don't exactly like showing off my boxers to the world.

Widespread Panic is a jam band, country+blues+roots+other stuff influences, similar to Phish...check 'em out.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-14-2005 09:36 PM

I have a couple of their albums and I can't really say I'm impressed. I'm not the biggest Jam band fan (although I have a fairly large collection of it). A little Dead, Phish, Bela Fleck and Robert Randolph every once in awhile is always nice though. There is a bootleg from Bonaroo (sp?) that is called Super Jam and it's a real trip. Good stuff but I still don't know who's on it and why it's called "Super Jam". :-/

Badmoon 08-14-2005 09:36 PM

How haven't you heard Panic.

Space Wrangler has been passed around a bunch around here.

Walrus Gumboot 08-14-2005 09:38 PM

My neighbour* has some Bela Fleck, should I check it out?

It's worth it just to hear Wooten play, not to mention Bela Fleck's banjo virtuosity.

Schyma-It's probably either Michael Kang (SCI), Bela Fleck, Luther Dickinson (No. Mississippi All-Stars), and Robert Randolph, or Dr. John, Stanton Moore, Mike Gordon (Phish), and Luther Dickinson.

Lunch 08-14-2005 09:51 PM

I wish I had that red Woodstock Shirt.

Definatly sounds like it's worth checking out, especially if I can get it for free :p

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-14-2005 10:08 PM

Since we're talking about Jam bands and all I think it's a good time to point out out that Phish broke up a year ago tomorrow.

You always have some information about every day of the year.

I don't know how but I always find out about important events on different days of the year.

Edit: It always helps me decide what to listin to next though. :)

So he didn't lose his virginity until he had been a rockstar for like 7 years? He must've been shy.

Leper 08-14-2005 11:40 PM

Did his career go downhill after he lost his virginity?

/doesn't know Frank Zappa at all.

I voted for Widespread.

Of course

We should get a CR YSI thread.

AGREED.

Jacaranda 08-15-2005 01:05 AM

I've noticed alot of CR has taken over Other YSI thread. But a CR YSI thread would be pretty cool.

Walrus Gumboot 08-15-2005 07:37 AM

That way I wouldn't have to wade through pages and pages of... other music to find the CR. But I could see the argument being against it that "if you guys have one, everyone will have to have one"
If that happens, this could be the CR YSI thread

EDIT: Speaking of, there is a whole hell of a lot of David Bowie in "Other Music"

The other music thread is awesome. It has a lot of CR but has some good other music too. The Alt and Indie thread moves too fast for me.

 I'm leaving this afternoon to go to vacation in Costa Rica for a week.

My god you are so lucky. I have always wanted to got there, do you speak spanish? Tengo que practicar mi espanol. I don't think my parents would let me go, they have thins thing with thinking anyone that isn't Canadian/American will kidnap me. A little bit racist, I guess, when it comes to their little baby. I don't think they understand that it is alot different when you speak Spanish, or at least that I wouldn't follow some guy down a dark alleyway trying to get some pot like that girl in Aruba

At any rate I'm sure you'll have lots of fun

A lot of friends have been there and had fun, so it should be pretty cool. I don't understand any Spanish though.

You'll probably pick up some. I think the only things I really needed were "Where is/are..." [Donde esta/n...] "here, there, left right, straight" [aqui, alli, izquierda, derecha, derecho] and "how much does this cost"[Cuanto cuesto esto(a)]
And if you want to order something, it's Me gustaria... (I would like) That one is good too, if you plan on eating :D
I'm leaving this afternoon to go to vacation in Costa Rica for a week.
Costa Rica sounds pretty cool...have fun.

Walrus: I've heard that Spanish in Latin America is spoken differently from Spanish in Spain, kinda like how English in the UK is spoken differently from English in America.

Stuff I've been listening to lately: trip-hop, Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys, and Jaco Pastorious's self-titled album. Well, one of those is classic rock, I s'pose.

It depends, really. Places like Jamaica, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic have tourist places where it's safe to roam around, and then there is the "real" Jamaica, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, where it's really not safe for anyone, much less some tourist.
