i wasn't using the example of classical music for any particular reason, just to point out how absurd the example is. my point was that some things are better in their respective aims than other things, but this does not stop people from thinking otherwise. in other words, there is an element of subjectivity and objectivity to everything, not solely one or the other.

The nah was a little hasty (I have to leave shortly), but you are right its not entirely subjective. We can agree on historical significance, technical mastery, whatever qualities are musically strong, I guess there is a sort of "scale" in a manner, not everyone will agree on it but there is something even if it is fluid.

As for whether the result is aesthetically pleasing or not... it's an open field to the individual on that one.
