professors at your school let you submit papers you wrote in the past for something totally unrelated?

my schedule is ehhhh

News Editing & Writing
Media Structure & Policy
Contemporary Narrative
d0cumentary Film & Television
Sociology of Consumption

i've had lots of professors who type a sentence or two into a program to see if it's original material, and submitting a review he wrote in the past that's easily searchable under his real name + date stamped is a pretty obvious way to get caught/lazy.
Yeah, if it fits the project tho they say you have to edit it/elongate it/change it but that's unneccesary ...that's not all professors but basically the younger hep kat teachers will let you do it

I've only had the chance once and the guy was old and bald and didn't let me...tits help you out in getting an okay

Tyler 09-07-2008 06:01 PM

I've only submitted one essay that was written a year before but I re-wrote 90% of it. I just don't get why you'd avoid working on your ideas, I mean you're paying a shitload to go to school why wouldn't you make sure you at least do it "right"?

Deth 09-07-2008 06:02 PM

Calc II
Physics II + Lab
General Chemistry (absurdly easy) + Lab

I would have taken more, but my schedule was hard to sync up and I'm pretty much in the black anyway with AP credits.

I know we can't 'self-plagiarize' here.

adb 09-07-2008 06:03 PM
yeah they make sure the papers they grade are legitimate what idiots
by doing it the hard and tedious way. turnitin.com ftw

willfellmarsy 09-07-2008 06:03 PM

well if you did the project right the first time and you get the exact same project, why waste your time on that rather than working harder to understand things fall apart by cinua achabe while being a honky from new york

Tyler 09-07-2008 06:04 PM

there's nothing hard and tedious about handing in a paper and then having the professor google a phrase. I don't know of any institutions that use turnitin here and I'm glad. That's just lazy.

masscows 09-07-2008 06:06 PM

my schedule is boring ****

Intermediate Algebra
Introductory Chemistry
History of Western Civilization
Honors Composition
Introduction to Cinema

The cinema class rules. The others are boring.

adb 09-07-2008 06:09 PM

When you'd be doing it for over a hundred papers, I'd say that's tedious and a waste of time. Maybe not for those weird pedo-looking loner profs (I've had one for English) but for those who actually have a family and other things to do besides obsess about a meaningless essay where the odds that it's plagarized are slim anyways. I don't see how its lazy when its effiecent and saves time

pate 09-07-2008 06:11 PM

I think it's bullshit when a professor teaches class for 9 hours a week, has office hours for 6 hours a week, and then goes home for the rest. They should be there for 40.

adb 09-07-2008 06:17 PM

At my uni there's a lot of part time profs now because they need to cut costs. I've had a few profs who teach like 3 classes or something and have a full time job too
pretense
hahaha

Permanent Solution 09-07-2008 06:54 PM

My class schedule:
Multidimensional signal processing
Instrumenttation in extreme environments

=)

On self-plagiarism: When I wrote my thesis I borrowed about 1/4 of it from a paper I had written in the previous semester since that paper had been researching my thesis topic in one aspect. I just cited my paper as a source and it was fine.

McP3000 09-07-2008 06:57 PM

Thats an interesting way of getting around the self-plagiarism thing.

Ill keep that in mind.
I think it's bullpoop when a professor teaches class for 9 hours a week, has office hours for 6 hours a week, and then goes home for the rest. They should be there for 40.
Most professors do research and **** too lol.

pate 09-07-2008 07:08 PM

I know, but some just **** off back home.

McP3000 09-07-2008 07:08 PM
Most professors do research and **** too lo[/img]

If they're science professors at major universities...

otherwise they just **** around and take forever to grade papers

adb 09-07-2008 07:09 PM

how would you know, you've only been in college, for what, two weeks

McP3000 09-07-2008 07:11 PM

3

but its not like this is secret knowledge or anything. And yeah, ive talked to all of my professors. One has a part time teaching job at the school, and the other three live on campus and chill most of the time.

Silenius 09-07-2008 07:19 PM

Pretty much science/engineering professors actually do **** and teaching is just like a side thing if they are at a big uni yeah.

Deth 09-07-2008 07:21 PM

Pretty sure we know that but thanks.

Silenius 09-07-2008 07:22 PM

Pretty sure FUCK OFF NON ELITE

willfellmarsy 09-07-2008 07:33 PM

do u give your teachers apples to mcp30000000000?

TimJim 09-07-2008 07:44 PM

i know that i would

Pebster49 09-07-2008 07:48 PM

If I was a teacher I rather have Strawberries

adb 09-07-2008 07:51 PM

me too, strawberries are the best fruit, apples are good though

elmntrs 09-07-2008 07:53 PM

i like most fruit tbh im so fruity!!

Angmar 09-07-2008 07:53 PM

I would require a daily pomegranate brought by a different student each day as their own personal assignment. If they failed to bring it they fail that assignment. If said pomegranate is low quality they get a lower grade.

elmntrs 09-07-2008 07:54 PM

i like bananas and watermelon and pears and apples and eVeRyThinG!!

elmntrs 09-07-2008 07:56 PM

so is chicken aka the fruit of the sea

gmoneyguy 09-07-2008 08:00 PM

******s have a good taste in fruit.
