Forest_Fire 07-20-2005 07:09 PM

Fine. I didn't want to do it anyway. :sticks out tongue:

Tell us if you like it, travis.

Alright! I'm a new guy on these forums. Good to see a dedicated Clash following. Look forward to chatting to you guys more.

One thing though. Should I buy 'Cut The Crap'. I've got all the other records except Sandanista. What d'ya think. I know it's regarded as the worst Clash album so I was just wondering.

Daniel! 07-21-2005 01:39 PM

No, get Sansanista.

CombatRock 07-21-2005 02:09 PM

Flagjacket 07-21-2005 02:12 PM

While we're talking about Clash albums, is the London Calling Legacy thing worth it?

CombatRock 07-21-2005 02:16 PM

eh, if you a die hard clash fan yes. basically its London Calling, Vanilla Tapes (tracks they found in Micks basement, they were like practice runs), Last Testament (a dvd about London Calling) and a big insert with essays and photos. i have it i enjoy it, its more of a collectors piece though.

guns_of_brixton 07-21-2005 03:56 PM

Do you already have the original London Calling? If not, just get the single cd. The Armagideon Times (fanzine thing that the Clash made) is alot of fun to check out though, it comes with the Legacy.

Edit: and Strummerville, you should get Sandinista!, its got alot of way-out-there stuff, as well as some great f.ucking songs.

CombatRock 07-21-2005 05:20 PM

i never knew there was Aramgideon Times in the legacy thing. i though it was only essays?

and get on msn to send the rest of the songs please.

skunkmuffin 07-21-2005 06:29 PM

what did Joe die of?

sketchyjoe 07-21-2005 06:30 PM

AIDS.

skunkmuffin 07-21-2005 06:31 PM

hmmm, i thought it would be something smoking related considering in almost every photo he's smoking...my bad

sketchyjoe 07-21-2005 06:32 PM

It was from having too much sex with men.

guns_of_brixton 07-21-2005 06:34 PM

Yea (sketchy) Joe died of mansex.

Strummer had a heart attack.

sketchyjoe 07-21-2005 06:35 PM

Caused by AIDS and buttsex.

Basically, when HIV is transmitted through anal intercourse between two males several process occur. During the asymptomatic stage, billions of HIV particles are produced every day accompanied by a decline, at variable rates, in the number of CD4+ T cells. The virus is not only present in the blood, but also throughout the body, particularly in the lymph nodes, brain, and genital secretions. During this stage, the body's immune system is actively trying to fight off the HIV infection but, for the vast majority of infected people who are not receiving treatment, the immune response is insufficient as the virus directly attacks cells of the immune system and mutates rapidly into AIDS. Many who are infected experience a seroconversion flu during this stage as their bodies change from seronegative to seropositive leading to a massive pulmonary overload or "heart attack" such as in the case of Joe Strummer.

CombatRock 07-21-2005 07:53 PM

sean, when i went to go play the songs you sent me it said i needed a licecnes or somthing?

guns_of_brixton 07-21-2005 07:55 PM

I don't know what to do then... get slsk...?

CombatRock 07-21-2005 08:10 PM

skunkmuffin 07-21-2005 09:06 PM

actually hiv can pass though any form of liquid swapping, sharing needles, cumming in any orifice etc

cheeser_1 07-21-2005 09:53 PM
actually hiv can pass though any form of liquid swapping
that's a bit too vague. if i trade a kid a mountain dew for a dr. pepper, i'm not at risk to catch HIV. there are only four fluids that transmit HIV:
blood
semen
vaginal fluid
breast milk

no other fluids transmit HIV whatsoever. unless you are taking one of these fluids into your body in some way (through an oriface or open sore/wound of any kind), you cannot catch HIV.

CombatRock 07-22-2005 12:44 AM

wheres andy when you need to her?

clash police says stay on topic -andy

im still couldnt get those GEER songs to work!

Silvermedalmafia 07-22-2005 12:48 AM

do any of you guys have the From here to eternity live album? I do, and it's pretty good, even surprisingly good sound quality for a live album/compilation.

CombatRock 07-22-2005 12:51 AM

i always get there 2 live ones mixed up. which one cost allot of money?

Strummerville 07-22-2005 06:12 AM

I got From Here To Eternity for about £7. I think it's the Clash On Broadway that costs more. I could be wrong though.

Can I just clear something up, was Joe gay? Just need to know. Essential facts you see. I'm not sure whether all the mansex talk is just in jest or whether you're actually being serious.

Cheers.

guns_of_brixton 07-22-2005 08:48 AM

Joe Strummer wasn't gay and didn't have AIDS.

From Here to Eternity is very good. It sounds so good because most of the performances didn't feature Terry Chimes, and they must've done some studio tricks to get it to sound better, like the sound levels. On a bootleg I've got it has the EXACT same Complete Control but the guitar is quieter.

CombatRock 07-22-2005 10:00 AM

hes not in any form gay at all, they were joking around. joe was married and had kids.

sketchyjoe 07-22-2005 10:28 AM

Joe Stummer was gay and he had AIDS.

Shtein 07-22-2005 10:58 AM

Ya, the heart attack was just a cover up.

sketchyjoe 07-22-2005 11:05 AM

Don't listen to Sean. He's just a homophobe who doesn't belive gay people can make good music. He's in serious denial.

Why are you soiling my f'ucking thread like this? You're sullying it's good name!

Please stay on topic, dude. When Andy's not here, I'm the acting Clash police.

And Joe's mansex is something we like to keep very hush-hush around here, so let's pretend this one never happened.

Strummerville 07-22-2005 01:59 PM

This thread is a good laugh. I'm learning guitar at the moment and was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to recommend a Clash song to start learning. I'm lazy and haven't trawled through that recomendations thread yet. I've learnt the intro to 'Gates Of The West'. I'm still quite bad as you can see. I couldn't even manage 'Should I Stay...'.

CombatRock 07-22-2005 06:12 PM

if you want a beginner clash song, learn Clash City Rockers, its so easy to play.

Johnny EPHC 07-22-2005 06:23 PM

Death Or Glory is easy, too.
