Grammatically yes, but they're technically song lyrics so I don't think it really matters.
Sounds stupid to start a thread about shoes, but I'm going to. Punkers are into activism and such, and I want to buy a pair of shoes that aren't made in a sweatshop. I wear Vans shoes, which look cool and are comfortable, but I can't help but feel guilty. Any suggestions?

please don't flame the **** out of me for this thread...
Make 'em.

That is so f'ucking badass. Where did you get that hat, and where did you get that patch, and how did you sew it on? Damn I want that hat.

RudeBoyStompin 11-18-2005 11:07 PM

Weezerfan, you can order non sweatshop or union made shoes online at various places.

http://www.nosweatstuff.com.au/ - All union made stuff
http://shoeswithsouls.com/default.aspx - All either union made or sweatshop free
http://www.macbethshoes.com/Default_flash.php - I have a pair of shoes from this company. They have pretty good labor standards.

Lately my town and its surrounding areas have put up cameras at traffic lights. I'm going to shoot the one nearest to my home with a slingshot.

That is an INCREDIBLE idea. I shall make a slingshot later. On the subject, anyone know how to make a decent slingshot? And I mean GOOD.

When our old venue was shut down on the last show we tagged "We Do The Ska" everywhere. The stuff we tagged outside is still there. I dont know about inside tho.
Should of taken a picture. We all sprayed our names on the walls, and everytime a band came and played they would tag the wall. It looked awesome.

coheneran 11-19-2005 08:48 AM

Cool. What this has to do with DIY I don't know, but I'm not complaining.
That's pretty sweet. I've been looking for a hat kind of like that. One of those russian winter hats called a ushanka. I can't find any that aren't made of fur though.

And also I've completed my Eraserhead shirt.

Wow, That is amazing. I officially love you.

And did you make up the font for the back? I like it. I think the Y is pretty cool.

That kind of reminds me of my town's local hotdog place (I know, not as cool as a music venue). It's all tagged had names scratched in the walls. Although I used to live in an appartment above this building, I have yet to write my name on it. Back before I was born, when my family was living upstairs, some artist was painting this old fashion coke a cola advertisement on the side, right where our window looked out from. When he was signing the names, he wrote my brother's name there too. It's still there, although the painting is peeling quite a bit, and some people graffitied on it a bit. His name is still intact.

How did you make your W/IFS shirt?

Stencil.

Did you print it off the computer, and if so do you still have it? :naughty:

I freehanded the back, yeah.

edit: and by freehand I mean freehanded the stencil design, I didn't paint right on the shirt obviously.

Yep.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/asdf23/worldinfernoinvert.jpg

Leave out spaces where needed. It's not an exact stencil, but if you think about it, it works.

DaveToopes 11-19-2005 11:31 AM

That stencil is like an optical illusion i saw one time, where little black dots appear in the white parts that are surrouneded by the black squares and when you try to focus on them they go away. Does anyone else see that?

I want to make a shirt of this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v151/PunkRockLoser666/Misc/notmypresident.jpg
But face stencils are really complicated and detailed.

You would need at least two stencils to make that. One for the white and one for the gray.

Rise Me Up 11-19-2005 02:19 PM

It looks freaking impossible.

The picture is the general idea, I wouldn't be using the same face for stenciling, I had a better picture (with him with his mouth in an O, even better at mocking the anti-bush f'ucktards) that I was turning into a stencil via stencilrevolution's methods.

Here is the stencil for the face:

Nah, I see how it could be done. A bigger image would help a ton, though.

Vietnow 11-20-2005 09:10 PM

I made this stencil for all you guys who don't think they can stencil. Its very simple and not detailed. It looks really awesome if you spray paint it on your wall a bunch of times at different angles.

Aww man, that really sucks. And I was just about to yell at you because of how envious I was.

I have made it a life goal to see them in concert, but they never come to Michigan. :(

I made an Oi Polloi patch with the design Anarcho Poser put up a couple of days or so ago.

Cool. Well done.

I've got a few long sleeve shirts with sleves that are too short (I'm really tall and have broad shoulders, alot of long-sleved things don't fit well,) so I'm cutting and hemming them to short-sleeved length, painting some stuff on 'em, and using the leftover sleeves for patches. I'll post pictures of the shirts when they're done.
That is so f'ucking badass. Where did you get that hat, and where did you get that patch, and how did you sew it on? Damn I want that hat.
My mom helped me sew it together from a pattern, then I just sewed the patch on the side by hand.

I haven't made a stencil in so long, I think I'm going to do that "pick it up" one on my guitar case in white.

A couple of letters are a little blotchy, and I kinda fell off the stencil next to the A, but it didn't come out too bad.

Liebensaft 11-23-2005 10:15 PM

Very cool.

white_riot 11-24-2005 01:39 PM

That looks really good.

My Flux of Pink Indians patch I made.
