HAHAHA I shouldn't drink at all.

I was too drunk to pick my parents up from the airport this morning and I woke up to them telling me that I'm drunk :(
Do they know about the baby?

HELLonWHEELS 10-04-2006 10:02 PM

For me bass is really the style of playing not really the notes. Don't get me wrong even as a kid i always loved the sound of bass and would always turn up as far as it would go in the car.

blizzard 10-04-2006 10:03 PM

Not yet... I should tell them
Watch me be on your doorstep tomorrow.
 If you can track down my house and be there by tomorrow, I'll be extremely impressed.
Hey Jarred, what's up?

One of my friend's is moving to Salmon Arm, by the way.
Seriously? Crazy.

And not a hell of a lot, really. How about yourself?

Spaceman Spiff 10-04-2006 10:03 PM
Cynicism ftw?

hahaha, you're probably right. I'll be dead before either, I'm pretty sure.

Did you hear about Zorn getting a $500 000 Genius Grant?
A cynic at best.

 Someone mentioned that Zorn thing on here... maybe it was you. Colbert is awesome.
Crap, here's how it will go: I still haven't uploaded that Zorn album for you, but he's got another one coming out in a week or two with the same lineup (Mike Patton on vocals, Trevor Dunn on bass, some guy [I don't know who it is, but he's pretty damn good] on drums), so I'll download that and upload both for you.

At least before they notice you eating pickles and chinese food together.

yeah, except the bass eq only makes everything more bassy, it doesnt turn up the bass guitar o_O

Mr. Pickle 10-04-2006 10:05 PM

this is going too fast for my 56k

Efrim 10-04-2006 10:05 PM

I'll be there, Ben, I will.

Jarred: Nothing much, I have a show coming up sometime soon.

Spiff: I must have, one of the funniest things I've ever seen on Colbert. And I would probably trade my entrails for those albums.

blizzard 10-04-2006 10:06 PM

HAHAH 56K for the loss.

I don't think I could ever stand using dial up again.

Spaceman Spiff 10-04-2006 10:06 PM
well, i meant mainly for me. it just seems that when you have so many higher strings, you're just wandering out of bass territory.
But it's still a bass. These people get those because they aren't piano players, they aren't stick players, they're bass players.

i disagree, strongly. not that style isn't part of it, but bass is a huge part of it. (i might be reading your post wrong, the "not really the notes" part confused me)

Sweet. Yeah, I've just been jamming with a ton of people lately. I'm in a class called Music Composition and Recording and when we're not learning a bunch of theory or recording, it basically turns into a bunch of jam sessions. My playing has improved so much from it already.

So when is this friend of yours moving here?

Efrim 10-04-2006 10:08 PM

Sometime soon. Her parents have a house there, and I think they've sold theirs, so it should be in the next few months.
yeah, except the bass eq only makes everything more bassy, it doesnt turn up the bass guitar o_O
If the spacing is more than 15mm its a bass i don't care how its tuned.

What makes a bass though? Is it the notes being played, the style of it beening played or how the guitar physically looks? When is a bass not a bass?
Sometime soon. Her parents have a house there, and I think they've sold theirs, so it should be in the next few months.
Oh, cool. Well, not really, because it is Salmon Arm and all... But you know what I meant.

What I'm getting to is that one of the main reasons I picked up bass was that i could play with my fingers(i wasn't accustommed to fingerstyle guitar yet). I was horrible with my left hand technique and the wider spacing made it easier initially. I liked all of that stuff regardless of what a bassa ctually sounded like. Do you get what I'm saying?

blizzard 10-04-2006 10:11 PM

A bass isn't a bass when its not tuned in 4ths and starts to venture out of the bass range.

Efrim 10-04-2006 10:11 PM

Though you probably have one she could transfer to....
umm... i understand your post, but i guess i don't understand what your point is.
I guess it didn't totally relate to what was being said, but it's more directed at people who say stuff like, "Why get a 12 string bass? Just get a stick." Crap like that.

Mr. Pickle 10-04-2006 10:12 PM

well, what seperates a bass from a guitar?

about an octave.

When it can not aquire the bass celf. So if you had a 10-string you can still go into the bass celf, besides bass has its own individual tuning.

Nope. We're too small to have a Starbucks. Which I'm actually grateful for.

I see what your saying and i think you see what I'm saying. Here's what makes a bass to me(add anything if you feel neccessary)

-The notes(an octave lower than guitar and bass clef.)

-The look(Basses have a distinct look you don't confuse them with any other instrament)

-The technique(bass is played very differantly from any other string instrament)

Even if if you take away one of those 3 thngs listed i will still consider it a bass. I do agree that it must be tuned in 4ths though

Oh good. It's nice to hear you're doing well. Do you have anything exciting coming up, at all? Any special plans for Thanksgiving?

Mr. Pickle 10-04-2006 10:21 PM

idk, i think your view of technique might be a little over the top.

maybe i'm confused, give an example of what you mean maybe?
