when i went to the merch table all they had left was new wave and three small or medium sized thrash unreal shirts.
I got there pretty early, so I got the exploding guitar shirt. They had like 5 or 6 shirts, a sweater, and the New Wave CD.

tom79 10-02-2007 01:40 PM

When I get some money I'm gonna send an order to No Idea to get an AM! Sheild logo shirt, and the Disco EP since I don't own it physically.

Cliche 10-02-2007 01:59 PM

I've got a marble green copy of the Disco EP.

That's the only EP of theirs that I own, so I want to get the rest.

Henrik 10-03-2007 08:33 AM

The RAR-logo T-shirt I bought of No Idea was a pretty bad quality T-shirt.

big80smullet 10-03-2007 08:45 AM

I love against me! my friend just got me into the over last summer but im pretty addicted. I cant get any of their albums in asutralia though which is a bit crap. I didnt like New wave as much but its still pretty acceptable.
The RAR-logo T-shirt I bought of No Idea was a pretty bad quality T-shirt.
Yeah, i bought it too. Generally, i think all band t-shirts are fairly low quality, although Cinder Block's tee's are pretty good.

Henrik 10-03-2007 04:30 PM

Yep I agree. Most of the band t-shirts I've bought have sucked. I have had one Ramones shirt and one Dropkick Murphys shirt that have been good stuff.
Most of the times the T-shirts gets damn ugly after 2 or 3 washes.

SkaRobotArmy 10-03-2007 05:39 PM

its more punk that way.
but seriously, if they were good quality shirts you would probably have to pay more for them, as long as they aren't uncomfortable i dont' really care, i'm used to it.

Rise Me Up 10-03-2007 05:58 PM

If you flip them inside out before you wash them, they tend to fade and crack less.

NewKindofArmy03 10-03-2007 09:06 PM

I saw them for free last weekend and while they were good, the setlist kind of sucked. One song off of Reinventing Axl Rose and three or so songs off As the Eternal Cowboy. The new stuff does sound a lot better live than on recording though.

They're playing here again in November but i'll wait to see if the setlist for the tour is any better.

obese_breasts 10-04-2007 02:22 AM

This thread is proof that Against Me! will never die.

Henrik 10-04-2007 10:43 AM

I'm seeing them in three days. I hope for a good setlist.

Lexluthor 10-04-2007 11:43 AM
I'm seeing them in three days. I hope for a good setlist.
The chances aren't good. It seems on their recent tour its been almost entirely songs from New Wave. When I saw them "Pints Of Guinness" was the only early song they played (kind of disappointing).

That sucks for you, because when they played in Toronto they played Pints on Guinness, Walking is Still Honest, Baby, I'm an Anarchist, Rice and Bread, TSR, and Sink Florida Sink. Plus probably a couple from from ATEC that I can't remember. Only about 4 or 5 songs were from New Wave.

obese_breasts 10-04-2007 04:13 PM

They still play Baby I'm an Anarchist?! Weird, last 2 times I've seen them they haven't played it, although they did play Disco Before the Breakdown one of those

Yeah, they rarely ever play it anymore, I was really surprised when they went into it.

Cliche 10-04-2007 06:40 PM

I am inferior.

They played Baby I'm An Anarchist as encores both times I saw them. And We Laugh at Danger and What We Worked For just the first.
Only about 4 or 5 songs were from New Wave.
They played all of New Wave except Piss and Vinegar and Animal I'm pretty sure.

Does anyone know if they ever play Politics of Starving or Jordan's First Choice Live? I've never heard of them playing those.

SkaRobotArmy 10-04-2007 08:40 PM

dunno, i love jordans first choice though. i was super stoked about baby i'm an anarchist even if it was electric.

Good article on the band's recent history:

Everything they are doing doesn't bother me..its just funny that they expect no one would call them on their shit. They are touring in a big bus now when buses used to be for "bands with a lot of fucking egos".

Twin Human Highway Flares 10-04-2007 09:19 PM

That was a really good article. I think it's sad that the band that made RAR doesn't exist anymore but to harbor resentment against them (ha) is pointless. I got pretty pissed for awhile but I'm over it. I do wish they'd be awesome again, but whatever.

widzjnent 10-05-2007 01:18 AM

yesterday in utrecht (holland) they played a very good setlist:
pints of guinness, cliche, axl rose, rice and bread, sink florida sink
unprotected sex, from her lips, problems, don't loose thouch
and a couple of new wave songs, it sounds alot better live than on cd though

after the encore they played TSR, walking is still honest and baby i'm an anarchist

the reaction of the crowd to the old songs was much better including myself, i guess thats why they played some old songs at the end

it was great

Yeah me too. But I predict they'll continue to go downhill from here on.

Hmm, now I think about it, you're right.

big80smullet 10-06-2007 07:14 AM

Any one heard ben lees cover of new wave. Its pretty bad IMO

AIRIC 10-06-2007 08:05 AM

Yeah its kind of bad.

SkaRobotArmy 10-06-2007 11:18 AM

i liked it other than the vocals were kind of shitty. who is ben lee anyway?

tom79 10-06-2007 11:27 AM

Australian guy.

I only listened to it once but didn't care for it much.

Twin Human Highway Flares 10-06-2007 11:44 AM

I kinda liked it. You know, given what he has to work with.

he says they kinda knew it would happen but didn't really care. the music is still good, just in a different context. there is only like what, one girl song on new wave? he's still challenging the process and things, its still rebellious just not on the same scale as it was before. Anyone who cares to listen can pretty much get the whole story from their music, 'unprotected sex with multiple partners' basically says why they switched to a major label and to me kind of hints at an intent to revert back to their old selves when its all over, this is just so that they can indeed go on making music. I dont know if you anyone here has ever been in a touring band but i can only imagine how tough it is to make **** meet, especially playing in 'churches and laundromats'. i feel its kinda justified as long as it stays credible, intelligent and continues to question things.
