Anyone know what song are they shooting a video for?

DepthsOfDreams555 05-11-2006 12:08 PM

Ten Speed

TMA 05-11-2006 10:29 PM

My thoughts:
SSTB>GA>IKSSE

That's just me though. I love SSTB cause it did kinda show some Emo roots and influence, quite a bit, and I think GA is just a highlight musicianship-wise and incredibly musically diverse. Now, IKSSE was also diverse to an extent, but I think it had some of their most pop songs on it, and some of the songs were extremely low on musicianship in comparison to their other stuff, and that kinda turned me off a bit.

DepthsOfDreams555 05-12-2006 05:15 AM

I think GA has more poppy songs than IKS did though.

Mitch2oo6 05-12-2006 05:58 AM

Thats true. GA is much written in a more catchy manner. I think that SSTB is hard to get into. GA and IKSE were both a helluva lot easier to get into and love.

Society Sellout 05-12-2006 10:02 AM

Actually the first time I heard SSTB I loved it and I still do. GA is almost none existant for me now and I rarely listen to IKSE3. GA is just full of way too many wannabe singles and IKSE3 I think I just killed for myself by over listening to it.

SSTB was the easiest to get me into them. It was the first one I heard after all. GA is almost impossible for me to get into. I can only listen to like 2 or 3 songs before I have to switch albums.

DepthsOfDreams555 05-12-2006 02:29 PM

Wow, I thought that GA was so much more catchy than all their other albums. The very first listen through on SSTB I didn't particularly like it, but I grew to like it after my second listen through.

cobert 05-12-2006 03:56 PM

It didnt take long for me to like SSTB. IKS was amazing at first, but now all but a few songs just seem kind of *GASP* generic. It seems like they tried to make a formula to wrte some songs, or like they just tried shoving every single riff theyve ever written into some songs. Still, it has a few classics. And i rarely ever listen to GA.

Mitch2oo6 05-12-2006 07:03 PM

Oh well each to his own I guess. Doesnt change the fact that Coheed are definatley awesome. After five listens, im still not into SSTB though...it seems all choppy, kind of, like its got no rhythm, and the drumming is over-done groove wise to my mind.

B 05-12-2006 07:19 PM

SSTB>Anything else Coheed has done.

I pity you if you can't get into it. It's amazing.

IKS was the easiest to get into, but after you give SSTB more listens, you love it. It took me more than 5 listens too. I used to just listen to the singles, but after hearing the whole thing several times, it grows on you lots.

Mitch2oo6 05-12-2006 07:46 PM

Oh well, Ill keep listening and see how it all goes.

Fish 05-12-2006 11:12 PM

i think im playing a cover of the light and the glass tomorrow, for this small show, with my friend.

TMA 05-13-2006 12:29 AM

I did that last year!
Acoustic, by myself.
Went over REALLY REALLY well, so...
DO IT!

Mitch2oo6 05-13-2006 05:24 PM

Have you got a recording of it?

DepthsOfDreams555 05-13-2006 05:26 PM
i think im playing a cover of the light and the glass tomorrow, for this small show, with my friend.
Dude record that mess, I want to hear it thats really cool Dave!

And ya Brent do you have any audio of it?

TMA 05-13-2006 06:21 PM

I don't have audio of it. I have video of it, but the sound quality is crap. Maybe when I get back home I'll do some more recording.
Besides, while it went over well, is was my very first performance eve, so I was rather nervous and my voice was cracking in a few places. I'd rather just go home and record it. ^^

cobert 05-13-2006 06:25 PM

I remember you saying you performed it for your school or something. You said you cut out the 'liar' part, if i remember correctly.

YDload 05-14-2006 11:58 PM

i just got back from the pittsburgh show with a7x. coheed was really good, of course.

they played "The Crowing" which is probably my favorite song of theirs. i didn't know they played it on tour so i was really excited.

they ended with a half-hour long rendition of "The Final Cut" with Claudio playing solos behind his back, with teeth, and he tried the violin bow trick but it didn't seem to work. oh well it wasn't any big deal, the rest of the show was great.

setlist if I can remember:

IKSSE: 3
Ten Speed
The Crowing
Wake Up
Delirium Trigger
A Favor House Atlantic
Everything Evil
The Suffering
Welcome Home
The Final Cut

I'm not sure if the order is right but i think that's every song they played.

Mitch2oo6 05-15-2006 12:57 AM

What an awesome show it would have been.

cobert 05-15-2006 12:00 PM

Yeah man, the final cut was waaaaay elongated when i saw them too.

I didnt go to that show because i didnt have any money, and i hate a7x.

YDload 05-15-2006 04:09 PM

Oh I forgot, they also played Blood Red Summer as well. All in all a terrific show. They messed up a few notes here and there, but nothing drastic.

cobert 05-15-2006 04:19 PM

GOOD STORY.

My sister just came back from her job at the mall, and she said avenged sevenfold were there. They were on the up escalator, and she was going down, then they were waving to her and saying 'HEY!!!'. I asked her why she didnt say anything back, and she said "If it was a better band, then maybe I wouldve acknowledged them."

DJ Ducksauce 05-15-2006 05:55 PM

lawl, that's nice.

Their guitarist looks like a fag.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 05-15-2006 07:01 PM

They are all douches and full of themselves.

Indeed I did. It was a school event, and I thought that the whole "liar" part was kinda just 30 seconds of fluff. The vocals don't change much, nor does the guitar, so... I just left it out.

OUCH!
That's awesome. I like some of their older stuff like the song Darkness Surrounding.
But ever since that dude decided he "could sing", I just can't listen to them.

cobert 05-16-2006 01:17 PM

Yeah, now he sounds like axl rose, which i dont see as a good thing.

These are my feelings exactly. I hope they get their act together for GA 2.
