I love the song I Want You (She's So Heavy) on Abbey Road. Excellent work from George Harrison.

Seafroggys 05-24-2005 07:35 PM

I think I Want YOu is the universal good song by everyone on these boards. Boy does it kick ***.

Distant Echoes 05-24-2005 07:35 PM

A want you is my favorite song on Abbey Road hands down.

jcf, your post are way to informative, education, and meaningful. I really wish i would read em, but your education is out of my league

Sgt Peppers is one of their strongest forms of song writng IMO. Its known as the first true 'concept album', since the beatle didnt intend it (i think), but has a main connecting story behind it. The intro and outro Sgt Peppers Band arent just what im talking about either.

freestyle1k86 05-24-2005 07:36 PM

I Want You was the was final recording the Beatles ever did together.

Walrus Gumboot 05-24-2005 07:37 PM
By Abbey Road, George had become, in fact, God.
Sounds like a history book. I agree

I also love the organ work on that song.

JonG 05-24-2005 07:43 PM

I love how the vocals and the bends in Harrisons guitar go along together so smoothly. And right before that Octopus's Garden. Harrison +1. Still and will always be my fav Beatle.
I Want You was the was final recording the Beatles ever did together.
I Me Mine was actually the last song they recorded together. It's a Harrison song on Let it Be. By Abbey Road, they were never recording together any more.

magicbus 05-24-2005 08:56 PM

Guess what guyz, I like "I Want You" also! The guitar is sweet, and I'm also digging how it matches the vocals. And the thundering arpeggio until the end of the song is awesome.

Harrison always was, and will be, my favorite Beatle.

I think he may be mine, but then I will swing back to Lennon. Is that Harrison in your avatar?

thickasabrick 05-25-2005 12:47 PM

I Want You is one of my least favourite songs from Abbey Road. It's still better than 95% of the music out there though. I like the ending.

Kinda like how (IMO) Let It Be is sub-par on Beatles standards, it still kicks the *** off of most of anything anyone else has done that I own

slowhand 05-25-2005 05:57 PM

That in the avatar is in fact the true God, Eric Clapton.

George is Jesus (or Krishna, if you like).

And rounding off my Holy Trinity of Guitarist is David Gilmour, as the Holy Ghost.

Something terrible has happened. He lost his pimpness.

And yea, that's Clapton in my avatar.

I totally love Magical Mystery Tour right now.
This is just a total masterpiece, with so many classic pop songs, and just brilliant classic rock.

Scooch 05-27-2005 01:52 AM

Is anyone else seeing Paul McCartney when he's doing his U.S. Tour this Summer/Fall? I think I'm getting tickets to the Toronto show!

clown_phobia 05-27-2005 01:55 AM

Nah - I've live in australia, but it would be awesome to see him...

I can't imagine what it must be like to live in Australia. Culturaly you are so similar to US/Canada/UK but you are so very far away from everything. Good for you.

I am seeing him in Boston :D

It is awesome. Every song is brilliant, except maybe Your Mother Should Know and Flying, which are good, and fun to listen to, just not as good as the rest.

Only about 4 or 5 big bands come here every year, and most of those are pop or pop/punk.

We do have a beatles festival every year though... :D

I'm really digging MMT right now too. Strawberry Fields is one of my favorites of all time. It's a little eerie, but that's one of the qualities that makes it so cool to listen to. The lyrics are perfect, too. When John says, "No one I think is in my tree, I mean it must be high or low. That is ya can't, you know, tune in, but it's alright. That is, I think it's not too bad," that describes just how I feel sometimes.

robo2448 05-29-2005 10:26 AM

Strawberry Fields Forever is 1 of those absolutely perfect songs

BludgeonySteve 05-29-2005 10:27 AM

Yeah. The Beatles have quite a few perfect songs.
