Well, can you imagine just standing up there for 15 minutes and not do anything?
Haha, Mike is the energy of the band. Has anyone noticed the transion of Myung? like, watch him on the Tokyo DVD, he's head banging and walking around on stage (most notably on the Ytse Jam) and then you watch the Budokan, he just stands there. Makes me kinda sad :(
Yeh that is kind of wierd. Has Myung had some sort of accident on stage or something so now he doesn't dare move? hmmmm.... what about when Myung rugby tackled Labrie for a bet. I can't imagine that of him now. It's funny on LSFNY(or Budokan... i can't remember) when LaBrei has his hands over Myungs shoulders and he looks really scared, and when DT did the cover of Damage inc with Barney Greenway(Nalpalm Death) and Myung is just standing in the corner playing along and laughing Barney's vocals. ahhhhh.....Myung, what a guy |

Myung just looks tired on the Budokan DVD. When did he tackle LaBrie? I wanna see! :) I think he's just really reclusive. I really think he doesn't feel appreciated by the band. They don't seem to really acknowledge him anymore. If I was in his place, I would feel really hurt with LTE, I mean, he wasn't good enough to do it, but Mike, John and Jordan just decide to do something together without him? Then with Mike and John really just stiffling his creativeness (for instance, they said that they told Myung to come with a song in proper format or dont bring it up, which is sad because Learning to Live and Lifting Shadows off a Dream are amazing songs!). I don't know though, that's what I've observed. He's naturally been pretty shy guy, so maybe he's just gotten more reclusive. |

yeah, I kind of agree. Myung is one of the best musicaians I know of.. :p So laid back, so quiet, all he does is play bass.... :D |

I got live at the marquee today, impressions of it when I get in from school, guys...

Yes, its logical, but I bet his feelings were heart |

So you basically had it right just backwards. Anyone with a booklet handy corroborate this? |

OK...live at the Marquee is pretty amazing... Bombay Vindaloo sounds like a mix of Rush and Iron Maiden and Led Zep...
|
I really don't like Mike Portnoy. He's one of the best drummers ive heard but it annoys me when he says things like Myung shouldn't right lyrics/poetry for DT stuff if it's not in the proper format.
 I bet Mike bullies Myung backstage and Myung is too frightened to say anything incase he gets chucked out of DT  |
LaBrie is an increadable singer his rage and pitch are amazing
its just that the timbre accent and sound of his voice are irritating (nowhere near Mustaines leuge of irritation) now eventually it just sets in and you don't mind anymore but in the begining its irritating
wtf does that mean |
hmmm...that dosen't really make sence at all.

I just picked up the Live at Budokon DVD. I had the cd, but I wanted the DVD and it is amazing. It almost fells like your are there. The camera crew did a really good job closing in on certain members of the band during certain parts of a song. For example, Petrucci in As I Am during the solo or Portnoy during the instrumedely when he was doing his thing. The production is great. I want to get another DVD, whats another good Dream theater DVD.

I've heard Scenes from New York is pretty good, I have double feature live in tokyo and 5 years in a live time, which are collection of music videos, concerts and making of the albums |
I can't find that DVD anywhere... :(
Will have to steal it from my friend.. |
Recommend me some Dream Theater
I've just become a really intrigued fan of Dream Theater. They're amazing! Everyone is just so amazing talented...words...cannot...decsribe. Anyway here's a list of albums I have. I've only been listening to them for about a few months now.
Octavarium: So far... it's incredible. I love every track. Images & Words: Freakin' amazing. I love "Metropolis" and "Take the Time." Awake: Haven't listened to it so much yet, but so far, I don't like it. Live Scenes from New York: I don't know much of the material...should have bought more albums first. Live at Budokan DVD: :amaze: :amaze: :amaze: :amaze: . So I wanna know what's the next DT album I should buy. Which should I avoid? Thanks. |

Its my favorite by them. Train of Thought's a nice heavy album if thats what you want, and 6 Degrees of Inner Turbulance is a nice mix of everything the band can do, and its 2 cds. |
6 Degrees is far from their best album bro.

Okay, I'll listen to 'Awake' more. So I hear 'Train of Thought' is the heaviest DT album. Does that mean it's good? I like "As I Am" on my DVD. |
It is good, but be prepared for pointless keyboard/guitar soloing in most songs. But otherwise yeah, its a good cd. In the Name of God is probably my favorite, minus the wank...

I'll wank it out all night long! I love Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson...all those guys. The reason I got into DT is because I heard Pettrruci could shread. But Dream Theater is so, so much more. |
I just heard Another Day for the first time
its completely amazing, its so calm and soothing and awesome.. great song, if you havnt heard it, then stop not hearing it |
Yeah, theres some good guitar solos, but I'm really not a fan of keyboard wank. Its kinda recks it for me, and a lot of the time their wildly out of place... every song is like *intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, small bridge, mad jam session consisting of keyboard/guitar solos for 5 min, chorus, ending*, with the odd exception.
