Thor 08-19-2008 03:26 PM

Get the latest album it's great so far

Junooni 08-19-2008 03:47 PM

Will do. Any classics?

Thor 08-19-2008 03:50 PM

All Hope Is Gone and Volume 3 are both solid listens.

beans 08-19-2008 05:25 PM

all hope is gone is out? or it leaked? i haven't been able to find it anywhere

i would start with their s/t album tbh
then iowa
the vol. 3
and then all hope is gone if you can find it yet

Si1v3RfaNg 08-19-2008 05:28 PM

well i made a thread about me having their new album and it got closed...... yeah anyways its awesome guys! beats vol 3 in my opinion, yeah anyways their best song from the old albms is def heretic anthem, the best song off the new album i would say is...... Vendetta from what i have listened to thoroughly so far.

beans 08-19-2008 05:31 PM

where did you find it, links please

Thor 08-19-2008 05:31 PM

Yeah it leaked.

The new album is pretty great, way better than their past two releases. It's just as heavy as Iowa but doesn't sound silly this time around. And the hooks are just really fun.

bunit just put your email on here and i'll help a brother out

beans 08-19-2008 05:32 PM

i didnt think iowa sounded silly, i loved most of the songs on that album
does anyone have a link for this sonofabitch lol

Thor 08-19-2008 05:36 PM

Iowa has good riffs and a few good songs, but overall that album is just kind of a joke.

I'M GONNA SLIT YOUR THROAT AND **** THE WOUND! ...seriously?

Si1v3RfaNg 08-19-2008 05:36 PM

i got it via torrent downloading, but bunit, thor did say if you give him ur email he'll give you the songs

Si1v3RfaNg 08-19-2008 05:37 PM

Thor 08-19-2008 05:40 PM

Dumb and Dumber. Come on man, it's a classic.

Si1v3RfaNg 08-19-2008 05:57 PM

Here's a quote from an interview with Paul Gray that I found interesting:
It's the perfect time for this record to come out. The fans have been waiting, and this whole genre needs a good kick in the teeth.

It definitely needs a kick in the teeth. It went from rap-metal to, "Hey, I'm an emo kid with a lame haircut and skinny jeans" [Laughs]. These days, it seems like everybody listened to At The Drive-In and decided that they were going to be in a metal band at the same time. Every ****ing band's doing that. I love death metal, and I love black metal. I won't say anything bad about that ****. As far as bands in our scene, I haven't bought a new record in a long time. I listen to my old Slayer records or my old David Bowie records. Of the newer bands that are out, I can't think of many that I'm into. I think Job for a Cowboy ****ing rules. Those dudes are pretty awesome. I liked Behemoth's last record. It's weird because Slipknot's at the level now where it became cool not to like Slipknot. We got a little bit of backlash. Kids that are 16 or 17 will say we're "Nu Metal." These kids try to tell me what true metal is when I was at the ****in' Powerslave concert in 1984. They weren't even born yet! [Laughs] I don't care. Dude, I know metal. I'm 36-years-old, I've been in metal bands for 23 years. I was doing Metallica and Slayer covers when I was 13. I've paid my dues, and I've paid my respects to the metal gods for that ****. I'm not going to be told by some teenybopper mother****er that we're "Mall metal" when I know what the **** we're doing. People can say whatever they want, but when we play, we're playing in front of 20,000 people every night. Slipknot's bigger than ever. I'm so ****ing proud and happy to be in this band. I'm so thankful for the fans that have stuck by us through all these years. We have the most loyal fans in the world, and we're gaining new ones every day. If any detractors can do it better, they should start a band and write a record, man. I'll buy it from them [Laughs].
Tyler 08-20-2008 11:55 AM

Paul Gray always feels like the guy without a face in that band. Good to hear him finally have something to say even if parts of that quote were pretty stupid.

Thor 08-20-2008 12:18 PM

The part about the Powerslave concert was pretty awesome though.

Gray was awesome on MFKR, it's a shame he never plays out anymore.

Tyler 08-20-2008 12:24 PM

MFKR is almost too awful for words though

keyboardxmosh 08-20-2008 12:32 PM

it's like the bad parts of colors

Dimmu Burger 08-20-2008 02:39 PM

That was a good interview.

The album sounds good so far, I haven't heard the whole thing but I'll probably listen to it on the way home from work.

botb 08-20-2008 02:40 PM

i didn't even know it had leaked.

Dimmu Burger 08-20-2008 02:41 PM

Yeah I stumbled upon it yesterday, it suprised me.

JoshuaHomme 08-20-2008 08:10 PM

the new album is good, but i wish they would progress more.

Powerban 08-20-2008 08:18 PM

I'm still unsure about the new album. It will probably grow on me. I love Gehenna for some reason though.

badtaste 08-20-2008 09:03 PM

Mmm, to download or not to download...
Paul Gray always feels like the guy without a face in that band. Good to hear him finally have something to say even if parts of that quote were pretty stupid.
Ha, if you check out the Inside the 9 interview with him (on youtube or whatever), his personality is very much reflected in the way he talks.
The part about the Powerslave concert was pretty awesome though.

Gray was awesome on MFKR, it's a shame he never plays out anymore.
The odd thing is that Joey and Paul are the ones who start writing the songs. So yeah, he's holding back for reasons unknown.

Dimmu Burger 08-20-2008 09:06 PM

Give it a try, you can always delete it.

badtaste 08-20-2008 09:11 PM

Sold.

badtaste 08-21-2008 12:27 AM

Bah, it's just a more heavy version of Volume 3. Reminds me a lot of my one experience with Lamb of God - lots of boring filler type riffs, vocals that are flat.

Si1v3RfaNg 08-21-2008 09:03 AM

i thought the album was very well done actually, much better than vol. 3
