Haha, that was pretty good gur, some of the lines didn't seem to flow, but that's probably just me, it might be cool if it ended without the " A pirate’s life ain’t for me." just because i've seen so many that do that at the end, but for what you were going for i can't really be faulted.

I didn't want to come off as someone who indulges rape fantasies :upset:

Basically, it's my attempt at some dark comedy. The first three stanzas could be from a generic children's poem - the last one's meant to be a nasty twist. But not twisty enough, I fear :(

haha good point about the rape, i just liked how most of it is all twee then it becomes dark and sinister, the moment kind of got taken away at the end, but that's probably just because i'm a bit twisted.

I think I may 'write' a second version... basically, same poem with a different last two lines :P

If I ever make it as a poet, the second version could be like an 'outtake', dvd style :p

Alternate last lines:

We’d be violent as any pirate was,
We’d be violent as can be –
A pirate’s life of murd’rin’ theft
Will fill me ‘eart with glee.

I like the new ending alot better.
The old one didn't fit the rest of the poem - it seemed too negative an ending to such a jolly poem.

Also, did anyone else read it in a Cockney accent? :o
