Vivian Girls are fantastic. If you haven't heard them, at least try'em out and see through the hype.

I've been listening to them and Coltrane, which is a bit of an odd combination but it's fun.

I found their s/t on Sordo. Can you describe their sound?

YourBiggestFan 11-12-2008 06:02 PM

They remind me a lot of Women with a much stronger surf element to them, and they're all female, so I guess there's that. I also hear some the Jesus and Mary Chain in there.

so I guess lo-fi surf proto-shoegazer?

elmntrs 11-12-2008 06:09 PM

lol proto-shoegazer

Anxious 11-12-2008 06:09 PM

I'm, seeing them Saturday along with 15 other "post-punk" bands including The Slits and Savage Republic.

YourBiggestFan 11-12-2008 06:14 PM

it's effective at conveying their sound

So I guess Vivian Girls isn't anything to write home about. It kept me interested for a while but the vocals just kinda grated on me the whole time, especially when they all sung in unison.
