You're putting Underoath on the same level as **** like Attack Attack!, basically, when in reality, Underoath's image has changed time and time again along with fashion trends of the time they're in.

again

why should fashion matter at all

hismajestythepope 06-10-2009 01:11 AM

Well, he's got a point honestly. You've got terrible terrible generic bands like Attack Attack! who are clearly just in the scene for the fashion.

But I'm just confused as to how this band fits that at all:

man look how scene timmy is, in those cut off jeans

Bleekill 06-10-2009 01:11 AM

I guess I'm only really concerned with bands that use image to sell, as I've said. It should be about the music. Look at KISS, they made so much moeny, they are not anything special. They just whored out to make action figures and all kinds of gimmicks. I'm not comparing underoath to kiss or anything but I'm saying image does matter. It alone WILL get you fans.

hismajestythepope 06-10-2009 01:12 AM

Dude, watch those two videos.

They're not an image based band.

Bleekill 06-10-2009 01:27 AM

Idk dude, I see a small change in style. Could just be the time passed and some members left/joined. I mean its obvious Aaron is fan of the scene style. Now the rest of them aren't but look at this shot.

They were all trying too hard there. That's around the time they exploded in popularity too. I mean fashion is a big part of that scene. Attack Attack! isn't even as ridiculous as Alesana, Escape the Fate, Blessthefall,The Word Alive, Drop Dead Gorgeous. It's easy to see that image is a large part of these bands.

hismajestythepope 06-10-2009 01:30 AM

2004

not 1998-2002

not 2006-now

they had an ultra scene phase yeah

Bleekill 06-10-2009 01:34 AM

Yes. So.....I just have this thing where I don't like image driven music. That is fine if you don't care about it. And we will never agree on Zao vs Underoath so lets just forget that. I'm a bit drunk now and have summer slaughter tommorow so, I end my rant here.

JonG 06-10-2009 01:40 AM

needs moar suicide silence

hismajestythepope 06-10-2009 01:44 AM

band is so bad

RunAmokRampant 06-10-2009 01:49 AM

image based music?

idk i just listen to the music without worrying too much about how they look on stage or whatever.

hismajestythepope 06-10-2009 01:54 AM

same mayne

rasputin 06-10-2009 06:37 AM

yeah dallas ****ing rips (late reply my bad)

HighandDriving 06-10-2009 07:26 AM

I love Dallas vocals, Zao is pretty poopty, UO don't wear scene clothes to try and retain some dignity cause 75% of their audience is young scene girls.

thomasj12e34 06-10-2009 08:22 AM
i disagree

caitiff choir has the poppy songs with a lot of clean singing, but if you skip those, the heavy stuff is all in all better than the new one

plus, defeatism man, that song is awesome
i dont mind poppy songs but, i didnt like the vocals on catiff choir

Txus 06-10-2009 08:29 AM

Dallas vocals were ****ing awesome, I really like everything Underoath has done except probably TOCS, it's not bad, but I rarely listen to that album. Cries of the Past is the best <3

thomasj12e34 06-10-2009 08:33 AM

underoath is so ****ing good really digging DFTGL

Moon Flavor 06-10-2009 09:18 AM

I don't get the big deal about Underoath I was into them 4 years ago when I liked gay emo-y **** and now I'm over it and realize they're lame as hell

jrowa001 06-10-2009 09:26 AM

is it because theyve gotten more popular the last 4 years? band rules and the fact theyve gotten popular and loved by scene kids hasnt bothered me or swayed how much i love them

Moon Flavor 06-10-2009 09:42 AM

no not really...around here they seem to have gotten less popular but i don't get cable or listen to the radio so i wouldn't know

just back then i listened to really immature music like Dead Poetic, Underoath, All That Remains, Unearth kinda music and I feel like I've grown past all that now and just see it as formulaic pop music. So when you guys rave about Underoath it just reminds me of all that other gay emotion-based crap that was made to make money.
