i don't exactly know how you know how much your own is worth, but when you know who gives it to you, you can see what you were at and what you're currently at, and that tells you how much their rep is worth.

It depends on how much rep you already have. I only know that Winters rep is worth about 200 points. No clue how one would go about checking.
