Come to our side Conner!
I don't understand the whole edge thing anyway. If you don't want to do drugs and such and help the scene, just don't. What is the point of labelling yourself? To make you feel more accepted, like you belong to somehting?
You should go read all 45,000 edge threads for the answers. Or just one of them will do. Your questions have been answered in just about every single straighte edge thread we've had. |

Agreed, I don't see why they do that. I mean it's cool to not do drugs and fuck random girls all the time but why flaunt it and label yourself? Its friggin dumb. |
Why be part of a political party?
It's no different than having a name for a band. It represents something that you all have in common. Also I'd suggest you stop talking like you know what you're talking about. |

It seems like a good thing, I just don't know everything about it, so some things about it doesn't make sense to me. Don't get angry or anything, Johnny 'fired it up', so I was just bringing in some discussion. |
That post wasn't really aimed at you.

Speaking of edgebreak, my sXe friend is turning 21 next week and breaking edge in celebration. Silly, but an excuse to drink. It'll be the first time he's ever had alcohol, so it should be a blast.

If you're going to go through all the time and trouble to be edge, why would you blow it so easily? You should stick with what you believe in. EDIT: I say 'you' generally, meaning anyone that is edge. |
straight edge means i'll "get up in all dat" if she is hot.

So he was edge as long as the law required him to be? |

I think edge is pretty silly unless you have alcoholism in the family or you are a recovering addict and need something to cling on to. It made sense in the 80s, but I just think it doesn't make much sense today. This is all under the pretense that you are one of those semi militant, edge-merch wearing people. If you do it for yourself, then good for you. |

This is something that needs to stop. I'm not pointing out you, just everyone does this. Stop assuming these things. It's like assuming all hardcore is, is heavy guitars and fighting. I did it mostly for myself, although these events do seem to be a form of motivation in pursuing this life and hopefully setting an example to them if they ever wise-up. |
You're edge J?
|
I might have soccer, double sessions suck.
yeah they do, do you have like running in the morning and then training in the afternoon? Thats what we have, its basically non stop running, plus i didnt run during the summer, i should've though, im regretting it now. |

EDIT: I say 'you' generally, meaning anyone that is edge.
This is to everyone who responded to my comment. I dunno, it's his choice, not mine, so don't ask me. I figure he can do whatever he wants to, as long as it makes him truly happy. And even if it doesn't, who are we to say? The last thing we need is another edge discussion, though. |

Nah, we do normal practice then games at night. But we do running on other days. |
Andre I forgot how good M. Ward was until recently.

New Orleans is done for. RIP
Andre I forgot how good M. Ward was until recently.
He could have made music at any time in the past 100 years or so and still been just as relevant and great, which is something I strive for in my own music. And I wasn't sure this was you until just now. |
You're edge J?

Nah, we do normal practice then games at night. But we do running on other days.
thats not that bad, i like playing in games a lot, i like the flow of the ball, practicing sucks a lot though, especially running. |
Don't get angry or anything, Johnny 'fired it up', so I was just bringing in some discussion.
I was intending serious discussion, I just wanted to give Conner ****.
Seriously, every discussion about straight edge becomes a really heavy argument that ends in all of us admitting that fighting about anyone's personal lifestyle choices is retarded. Why waste time? I'm claim edge because I believe it's the right way to live my life and I "flaunt" it because I'm proud of everything I am and everything I believe. |
I think edge is pretty silly unless you have alcoholism in the family or you are a recovering addict and need something to cling on to. It made sense in the 80s, but I just think it doesn't make much sense today.
I have alcoholism rampant in my genes, and I've seen enough people I love hurt themselves and the people they love through substance abuse. I've seen people waste all their potential over getting their next fix. That's not for me.
This is all under the pretense that you are one of those semi militant, edge-merch wearing people. If you do it for yourself, then good for you.
Define "edge-merch". Is a Champion or Carry On shirt that says Straight Edge "edge-merch", or are we talking about Seventh Dagger shirts that say "Straight Edge Means I'll Kill You"? |
It's no different than having a name for a band. It represents something that you all have in common. .
For the record, that's a rather silly comparison. |
Seems fine to me. Straight Edge represents the values a group of people decide to be a part of, in a band you all decide to be part of a specific type of music/sound and choose a name to represent you all. Just that a band's name can change and changes with people, and straight edge's name stays the same.
The political party comparison is better, I was in a hurry to type everything up though. |
The political party one makes perfect sense, I still don't know what you mean by the name of the band.
|
Ehh screw it, I'm to lazy to type out everything I mean. Just know it does make sense.
