I think edge is pretty silly unless you have alcoholism in the family or you are a recovering addict and need something to cling on to. It made sense in the 80s, but I just think it doesn't make much sense today.

My brother's a drug abusing [SIZE=2]f[/SIZE]uck, most of my friends are cocain fiends or alcoholics or stoners, and I've lost friends to heroin. I did it mostly for myself, although these events do seem to be a form of motivation in pursuing this life and hopefully setting an example to them if they ever wise-up.

I've seen people waste all their potential over getting their next fix. That's not for me.

For the record, that's a rather silly comparison.

Seems fine to me. Straight Edge represents the values a group of people decide to be a part of, in a band you all decide to be part of a specific type of music/sound and choose a name to represent you all. Just that a band's name can change and changes with people, and straight edge's name stays the same.

The political party comparison is better, I was in a hurry to type everything up though.
