Broken Arrow 08-08-2005 06:24 PM

I also got a free CD by a band called Clutch???

robo2448 08-08-2005 06:25 PM

I wish I had cool neighbors... :upset:

Between you raiding them and raiding your garage you won't ever need to spend money on cds.

My mom always said that when she was my age she was too broke to buy Sgt. pepper's because she spent all of her money on Carpenters albums

Thought I'd Check them out

Broken Arrow 08-08-2005 06:52 PM

Which version of "Are You Experienced" do you guys have? I have the original reprise version. That means no tracks 12-17, which means no Red House and Stone Free. :(

I have the version with Stone Free and Red House.

Edit - Yeah, the same one as Illmatic.

Illmatic 08-08-2005 07:01 PM

I have the 1997 version with the extra tracks.

Maybe not, I don't have it at all

MBS 08-08-2005 07:20 PM

So I'm listening to Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughan and I'd have to say it's one of my favorite albums.

Illmatic 08-08-2005 07:21 PM

I don't like SRV very much at all...I find his music pretty boring. He's a very one-dimensional artist.

MBS 08-08-2005 07:24 PM

Define one-dimensional.

Illmatic 08-08-2005 07:25 PM
Define one-dimensional.
All of his songs sound the same.

classicrockman 08-08-2005 07:26 PM

Stevie-Ray's awesome!

I don't think anyone sounds like him on the guitar.

robo2448 08-08-2005 07:29 PM

Great guitar player, but he is somewhat one-dimensional and overrated. He's not good with slow blues, and personally I don't like his voice or songwriting. I still like him though.

panasonic youth 08-08-2005 07:32 PM

I like all his work, I like his slow blues, but yeah I don't really like his singing. And he has become pretty over-rated throughout the years but u got to admit, hes an amazing blues player and hes white...props to that

speaking of white blues, Truth by the Jeff Beck Group is an awesome album.

classicrockman 08-08-2005 07:48 PM

Anything Eric Clapton too.

I didn't much care for that album. Blow by Blow on the other hand, that is amazing (though not blues at all so slightly irrelavant).

BludgeonySteve 08-08-2005 07:59 PM

White blues! Jeff Healey pwns!!!!!!111

Is that George Thorogood on your avatar?
Now there's a white blues-guitarist.

"One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" is one of the funiest songs I've ever heard.
speaking of white blues, Truth by the Jeff Beck Group is an awesome album.
F yea. Probably one of the greatest British blues rock albums made.

iwant_taquitos 08-08-2005 09:03 PM

Led Zeppelin did some pretty awesome blues rock stuff.
Led Zeppelin did some pretty awesome blues rock stuff.
Yeah, Jimmy Page has a pretty big blues influence.

Walrus Gumboot 08-08-2005 09:05 PM

I love it when the Daily Show titles stories after Beatles albums
ex:
Hello Submarine
Magical Victory Tour

barrett420 08-08-2005 09:17 PM

Zeppelin stole music from blues musicians.

jpj 08-08-2005 09:22 PM
Zeppelin stole music from blues musicians.
Yes, everyone has been made aware of the fact. The discussion has been done to death both in here and in the Zep thread.

Truthfully though, a lot of early rock artists (50's and early 60's) did similar deeds.

BassMasta2487 08-08-2005 09:29 PM

It's hard not to steal at least something. I don't think there's a single person who can admit they never, ever, took something they heard and liked and integrated it into a song, even if it was only once.
