Great frontmen like Daltrey have charisma and attitude, they don't collapse of drug overdoses, fight Jimi Hendrix, and get arrested on stage.
But it's obvious which direction I'm biased towards anyway. And a frontman doesn't have to be bigger than his band. There is no need for an introduction as "Roger Daltrey and The Who", because everyone already knows what The Who is about.
You have no idea what your talking about. Read a Morrison bio or listin to their live material. |

I used all my facts from your earlier posts. Apparently you know what you're talking about.
What!?!? Noway he made people riot, he apparently pulled his dick out to a sold out audience, he got arrested on stage, he got into a fight with Hendrix.....etc
|
I'd say (other than Elvis), Jim Morrison is the best frontman ever. That's why the band kept getting introduced as "Jim Morrison and the Doors". You never heard people saying "Roger Daltry and the Who".
I believe the opening page (or something) to No One Here Gets Out Alive was about Jim getting in a fight with the man who introduced them, because he stated "Jim Morrison & The Doors". |
I used all my facts from your earlier posts. Apparently you know what you're talking about.
Morrison revolutionized the frontman position. I mean people came to see the Doors just to see him sing. What's in your avatar Moon. |
Morrison revolutionized the frontman position.
What's in your avatar Moon.
Daltrey came before him anyway, but lets say that Daltrey didn't do anything that would make him a great frontman before Morrison. That still doesn't mean I like Morrison more than Daltrey. |

A man (Jimmy Cliff, I believe) on the cover of the soundtrack to the movie The Harder They Come. It's a great Reggae album. |
So anyway, who knew that the closest language to English is Dutch?
|
Badmoon, Jimmy Cliff is amazing. I've got that album (The Harder They Come).
So ZZ Top is coming to my town soon, are they any good live? |
Try their s/t album, and Strange Days. I prefer Strange Days over the s/t, because it feels more consistent, but they're both good.
yeah I agree... what really got me into the Doors is their greatest hits though... those were the songs that made me like the Doors |

I almost bought Strange Days the other day, but then I didn't.
I almost bought Strange Days the other day, but then I didn't.
I got it recently. The second most weird and creepy and the second best Doors album :) ( weird and creepy does not make it better than less weird and creepy doors stuff. It just worked out that way due to awesome songs and such) |

Yeah, it is an outstanding album. There are so many good songs, and Jimmy Cliff is constantly consistent throughout the album. |
I've got tons of his mp3s if you need any.

Just to start some conversation going, what are some classic rock blues covers that are really good.
Some of the ones I can think of are Pink Floyd's (with Syd) cover of King Bee, and too many Led Zep covers to count (I would say more, but it would really kill the conversation quick to name them all in one post). |
Cream's cover of Crossroads
Hendrix's cover of Hey Joe |
cream - born under a bad sign
cream - sitting on top of the world the animals - boom boom derek & the dominos - key to the highway jimi hendrix - killing floor |
The 1st 3 songs off Live at Filmore East by the Allmans.

Yardbirds - Smokestack Lighting
Allman Bros. - Hoochie Coochie Man Allman Bros. - Trouble No More Johnny Winter probably has a lot of great blues covers |

I just feel like mentioning I have The Essential Leonard Cohen playing right now. Every human being who likes music should have the song "First We Take Manhattan" on their computer/mp3 player/CD player. It's that good.

I've heard it  . If you're talking about that Bob Dylan tribute CD, it's great. |
