I'm going to see Tom Petty...
cool, at MSG?

Janeway 06-04-2006 08:34 AM

No.

He's touring with The Allman Brothers for part of the summer. It's going to be at Darien Lake, which sucks, but eh.

ludvista29 06-04-2006 08:36 AM
ahhhh i cant decide! 14" New Beats or 14" Paiste 2002 Heavy Hats? Theyre both $120 and I play every style. I need answers quick!
Paiste!!11

Also, I believe lyrics are more important than the music itself, so, I'd say, write lyrics first, then put music to them.

Tuning is fun.

fishbulb 06-04-2006 09:14 AM

I'm seeing the Peppers...September 22..

We_Love_Lime 06-04-2006 11:02 AM

I would see The Roots.

But Kansas is being Racist currently.

drummerdave 06-04-2006 11:13 AM

no its just the last time kansas had a famous or even mildly famous band here it was yellowcard (which i went to, was actually a really good/fun concert), then before that it was metallica a couple of years ago, there's always the yearly rap concert that you could go to

Tang. 06-04-2006 11:16 AM

I live in southern mississippi. No one comes here, and especially since the hurricane hit, the place where we usually have concerts is still being rebuilt. Blake Shelton (country artist) came and played at a fair in April which was cool.

I live in a place where we either get rap artist (ludacris came and donated money to a school, BET hosts black spring break down here..yeah..black spring break....) or really country artists. But a local alternative rock station has CPR fest down here, which brings in a lot of famous rock groups.. this year wasnt that great of a line up, but they've had alot of good groups come down here. 3 doors down plays here alot because they are from my hometown.

We_Love_Lime 06-04-2006 11:23 AM

Yeah Dave. I saw Weird Al a couple years ago ;). Lol yearly rap concert.

Young Bloods and the 36 Mafia.

Oh Snap!

You'd think a lot of people would play for free Tang, due to the Hurricane, as a releif support thing.Meh.

Ludcris.
Hmmm..

fishbulb 06-04-2006 11:27 AM

What is Amon Tobin?

We_Love_Lime 06-04-2006 11:35 AM

Only the Coolest dude ever.

He created the Splinter Cell Chaos Theory soundtrack.

He's very cool, Jazzy, Funky, Electric. Ambient? . He sets a really good mood when listening to his stuff.

Berk 06-04-2006 11:36 AM

I saw Thrice last November..Great show.

I'm seing the Peppers..

And then Metallica when there new album comes out.. If it does? and if they come here (January-march)

Icky_Mettle 06-04-2006 11:36 AM

Great Electronica/DnB artist...he's pretty well known for doing soundtracks, but his albums are awesome.

Permutation>All

The Roots ahve a new album coming out in August.

Hmm

Icky_Mettle 06-04-2006 11:44 AM

Have you checked out µ-Ziq or Squarepusher? They're fairly similar to Tobin, and I think I like Squarepusher best of the three...

We_Love_Lime 06-04-2006 11:46 AM

Negative.

I'll write em down.

I gotta get the City of God Soundtrack first.

OMG it is so good.

Check out the samples!

here's a sample.

Icky_Mettle 06-04-2006 11:48 AM

That movie should be getting here soon...ordered it on netflix a few days ago, along with this movie about MC's and one with Fela Kuti

We_Love_Lime 06-04-2006 11:49 AM

Oh my god

City of God was an incredible movie, it's well worth the wait.

Don't know this Fela Kuti though.

Icky_Mettle 06-04-2006 11:52 AM

Fela pretty much invented Afro-Beat music, he's an african guy who died of AIDS a few years back...I have a live album he did with Ginger Baker that's fannnntastic

afro-beat=African funk, for the most part.

We_Love_Lime 06-04-2006 11:55 AM

African Funk?

That's tight, I'll write him down too.

Janeway 06-04-2006 12:25 PM

Ah. My sims soundtrack is now composed of random Bollywood, Diesel Boy, LTJ Bukem, and DJ Spooky.

And the Insiminator is...amazing.

fishbulb 06-04-2006 01:25 PM

Ahh, permutations. I just learned those a couple months ago.

Icky_Mettle 06-04-2006 01:34 PM

Anyone have any idea how a yamaha oak custom 14x7 would sound? I'm thinking it'd be fecking loud, but I don't want it to be drown everything else out...I could use my stock snare for light stuff. I could get a Maple absolute nouveau snare for $290 and a black panter for a little more...the Oak custom would only be about $200.

We_Love_Lime 06-04-2006 01:46 PM

Hmm

Musashi's are oak.

You could go for that, but yah the Oak will be friggin loud.

Berk 06-04-2006 01:52 PM

Isnt Oak really heavy?

We_Love_Lime 06-04-2006 01:54 PM

I don't know.

Icky_Mettle 06-04-2006 02:06 PM

I just know that oak is lounder than maple, and yeah, I'm pretty sure oak is a strong wood. I'd think that the rimshots would rouse the neighbors, so I think a musashi would be a better choice.

We_Love_Lime 06-04-2006 02:07 PM

Musashi is Oak.

I would just get the Musashi, because It probably has it's own line for a reaason.

Icky_Mettle 06-04-2006 02:11 PM

No no, I know it's oak, It's just not a mammoth 14x7 oak drum...

We_Love_Lime 06-04-2006 02:11 PM

Oh yeah.

I would just get the 13x6.5 duder.

fishbulb 06-04-2006 02:33 PM

Man! I want it to be July 19th.

We_Love_Lime 06-04-2006 02:41 PM

Why?

fishbulb 06-04-2006 03:06 PM

I'll be 16.

Berk 06-04-2006 03:18 PM

I want to make my own shells...
Is it cheaper just to buy a set?
Or shells then add hardware n ****...

We_Love_Lime 06-04-2006 03:21 PM

I don't know.

Research a bit.
