"Pressure Drop" > Your soul

jpj 08-07-2005 09:34 PM

Walrus, I posted AotS in A&I.
"Pressure Drop" > Your soul
There's a lot of great tracks on that album.

Jam2Me 08-07-2005 09:40 PM
It's pretty easy to upload music onto it, and I like it, but I just don't have much need to use it.
The price of the Zen 40GB is real nice, I think I'm gonna get one soon.

..back on topic:

Is anyone a big fan of Big Brother & Holding Company...they seem like they were all the rage back in the day touring a lot and playing with big time bands, but I never hear them on the radio or hear much about them at all.

PinkFreud 08-07-2005 10:20 PM

to jpj: theyre leonard cohen songs.

to moon: netflix is nice for obscure and foreign movies that are hard to find in rental places. national treasure? come on...

Illmatic 08-07-2005 10:33 PM

You know, Frank Zappa is great and all, but man, "The Torture Never Stops" is brutal.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-07-2005 10:37 PM

I finally got back The Doors self titled and I have again come to the conclusion that it is still one of the most amazing albums that have ever cought my ear. :)

Leper 08-07-2005 10:39 PM

Just got PF-Piper at the Gates of Dawn today. Seeing as how i've never heard any Syd Barrett, who wants to give me a little review on the album, and comparison to Gilmour?

Illmatic 08-07-2005 10:41 PM

Also, have you noticed how weak Jimi Hendrix's guitar sounds on some of his live albums? Isle of Wright '70 and Woodstock come to mind. Band of Gypsies is different, of course, which is why it's a great album.

EDIT: 1000th post ITT

Completely different from any Floyd you've ever heard. I think it sounds like a completely different band.

Well, for one my mom wanted that. Also, the prices for videos around here are extremeley high, especially for new releases, video stores also have incredibly low selection.

Finally, I have 14 days of free renting from Netflix, so renting National Treasure really doesn't set me back.

PinkFreud 08-07-2005 11:11 PM

fair enough, just make you sure you make it up.

ive wanted to see the king of comedy for a while.

Leper 08-07-2005 11:37 PM

I also got Supertramp-Even in the Quietest Moments

anyone who hasn't heard Fool's Overture is living in sin.
I could probably get it up tonight, and I haven't even gotten to the Electric Prunes album yet. I'll let you know how it goes. I figured you especially might be interested in the Spirit albums, Easter Everywhere, and the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band unless you've already heard them.
I don't like West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band that much and I have yet to get Easter Everywhere. Thanks for the album I'm downloading it now. :)

John is my favorite Beatle because he writes the most amazing songs out of the 4. If you were to compile John's greatest songs (with the Beatles) on one CD it would be honestly the greatest CD that has ever existed. I mean it'd be so good kids in the street would run home, clouds soon followed by thunder would begin to appear, toads would fall from the sky like rain, orange joice would come from the ground and a zombie John Lennon would knock on your door with an axe in his hand and.......well you get the picture.

That's quite the scene..How does a great album lead to brutality and gore though?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-08-2005 12:17 AM

Not sure but that's what I predict will happen. ;)

I miss my Freak Out! avatar. :(

On a brighter note I learned "Blackbird" yesterday. Fun and very cool song. :)

Illmatic 08-08-2005 12:46 AM

I've always been a big fan of George Harrison's work with The Beatles.

Except for "Within You, Without You"

JonG 08-08-2005 01:01 AM

George has always been my favorite, mainly because I play guitar, but oh well.

Also, I love his solo work.

My favorite Beatles song with good guitar work is "I Want You"

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-08-2005 01:30 AM

I wish Paul and John would have let George have more songs on the albums. I mean it wasn't like he wasn't writting any either.

Ugh....I'm up at 6:00 this morning because I got sunburnt while skimboarding yesterday and I'm in too much pain to sleep :upset:

The Doors S/T is so good.

Walrus Gumboot 08-08-2005 12:00 PM

Jam2Me- I just got a zen a few days ago, I really like it. My only problem is that I thought it might have recording capabilities and an FM radio like my sister's zen micro, but it didn't. Zen micro's are also considerably more attractive, but the memory wasn't enough (but it is EXTEMELY easy to delete albums from it if you need to)

Thanks alot, The Wind is on it's way

magicbus 08-08-2005 12:48 PM

I learned Blackbird last week too, and I Want You is a great song to play.

Walrus Gumboot 08-08-2005 03:09 PM

I always try but find it very difficult to learn the bass part to "I Want You"

robo2448 08-08-2005 04:41 PM

Blackbird is really fun to play. I'm listening to Morrison Hotel now, such an awesome album.

And I got a really cool John Lennon shirt today. It's black, but has his face in yellow in front of an American flag and the peace symbol. On the back it says Give Peace a Chance with another flag and peace symbol. I was surprised because I got it at Hot Topic which usually doesn't have shirts that are cool like this one.

Not my kind of store, but my friend made me go in with him, and I found that shirt.

Jam2Me 08-08-2005 05:05 PM

I've been in Hot Topica couple times, got a Sublime shirt once and a Lynyrd Skynyrd shirt there. They have a pretty good selection of bands, Bob Marley, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Sublime, Nirvana, RHCP, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, etc...basically it's not all gothic/emo crap.

Hmm, never seen ABB there, maybe I should re-visit it

Did you see my mini-review on Zen?

EDIT: Crap! Their Revolver t-shirt is cooler than mine! :upset:

Yeah I think Canada is better off with out one, its really just a breeding ground for things that are trendy. Though sometimes they get luckey.
