Youth of America

Digging Laughing Stock, the first two tracks don't do much for me since I'm listening with bad speakers but "After the Flood" is niiiiiiice.

br3ad_man 09-22-2007 03:31 AM

I've been listening to this $3 Billie Holiday compilation I bought a while ago for the past couple of days. It's awesome.

if you can, get the boxset. it has their 1st 3 albums (is this real? youth of america and over the edge) on and used to be the same price as a single album

if not get youth of america

Either Over the Edge or Youth of America. I prefer OtE since it has my favorite Wipers song ("No Generation Gap") and it's kinda neat that you can tell Hot Snakes borrowed a lot from this album.

Also if you can find it get the tribute album Fourteen Songs For Greg Sage and The Wipers. Some of the artists in it include Nation of Ulysses, Thurston Moore, Hole and NIRVANA

Cocteau Twins- Head Over Heels

I suppose they turned into goth/dreamy pop band just for this album and then decided to go back to straight dream pop. Its a shame, because the dark elements work really, really well.

I personally like Is This Real? the best, but most people here would disagree. It's more poppy then YOA and OTE, and it was the first Wipers album that I heard. But if you can, get the boxset. It's pretty cheap for albums.

YDload 09-22-2007 12:03 PM

well i'm asking because Sordo has Over the Edge and Is This Real? up for d/l. i know one of them is their debut album so that might be interesting, but i also want to know if the other one is a significant improvement.

Boilermaker 09-22-2007 12:06 PM

They're all really good, but Is This Real is my favorite.

Zebra 09-22-2007 12:08 PM

Youth of America ftw

but boilermaker is right all of those albums are good.

ATM 09-22-2007 05:00 PM

The cover of Liquid Swords is so awesome. I also love the packaging of Mmm..Food.
